Andrea Mitchell: 'MSNBC Helping Preserve the NBC News Brand'

This will give you an idea of just how far to the left NBC's Andrea Mitchell is.

Although many industry insiders and media watchers on both sides of the aisle view the cable network MSNBC as being a journalistic disgrace as a result of its blatantly obvious liberal bias, Mitchell says, "Nothing could be more important to our future."

And that's not all. For those with strong stomachs, here's Mitchell's complete response to a question on this subject from TVNewser (emphasis added):

MSNBC is helping preserve the NBC News brand by making us the only broadcast network with a worldwide cable organization. It permits us to go live at any time with breaking news, gives us the ability to carry non-stop political coverage, including debates and convention proceedings, and — best of all — merges a new cadre of correspondents, anchors and producers with the NBC News team.

Nothing could be more important to our future. There are plenty of firewalls between the opinion during MSNBC's prime time shows and the NBC News broadcasts.

Helping preserve the brand, Andrea? Hmmm. I think most media watchers feel this abomination is destroying the brand...but thanks for sharing.

The only way that is true

Is if NBC is consciously going after the liberal audience exclusively. Interestingly, that same audience is being courted by CBS and ABC as well. CNN is a little more centrist but could be concidered in the mix as well. The only network that even makes an attempt to give equal airtime to conservative journalists and commentors is FoxNews. Interesting how NBC is choosing to "go after" a market that is already almost saturated with competition and eschewing to make a more interesting business decision, like giving FoxNews some competition.

Re: The only way that is true

OK, here's my idea - what Andrea Mitchell was foreshadowing is that NBC's long-term strategic plan is to get out of the news game on their 'flagship' network and port their news function out to MSNBC and CNBC.  GE has been rumoured to be sniffing around the idea of selling off such a 'non-core' business unit and it is widely known that NBC has a lot of it's financial eggs resting on the success of the Olympics.  If the Olympics fall through for them, they may well decide to make some fundamental changes before GE decides to make them for them.

Personally, I'm not watching a second of Olympics coverage on NBC.  It's my own personal boycott.

She's just kidding, right?

Plenty of firewalls between opinion and news broadcasts?? Toilet paper does not make a good firewall.

Chris Matthews

Andrea on Chris: "I don't think Chris Matthews is a liberal thinker."

Andrea on NBC's liberal bias: "That's not how we approach the news, Bill."

Andrea is the quintessential old media personality.  She and her fellow NBC journalists are so entrenched in their liberal groupthink viewpoint that they perceive it is "normal" or "mainstream" to be as far left as they are.  It's the classic, "How did Nixon win?  I don't know a single person who voted for him" or whatever the exact quote is.

Preserving?

Similar to how formaldehyde preserves a body for burial?

wow

Andrea Mitchell is actually excited because NBC has their own one of them newfangled cable news channels?

It doesn't make a lick of difference if Fox News keeps blowing them away.

I wonder if Andrea really meant that in a self-deprecating kind of way?

You mean a self defficating

You mean a self defficating way, don't you candance?

Give the MSM the middle finger.... vote for John McCain! - BuxomAnnieMcGreggor

Mitchell says, "Nothing

Mitchell says, "Nothing could be more important to our future."  she forgot to add....as a left wing media outlet which gives the left free air time because of our biases....

One of the most liberal!

Andrea Mitchell is one of the most liberal biased news women on tv!

A couple of weeks ago, she was kinda making the statement that the media weren't getting access to Obama over in Europe, and she sounded miffed about it.  Well....... she must have gotten reprimanded by MSNBC, because since then........

She is overboard on protecting the Messiah.  Every chance she gets she makes the statement that Obama didn't diss the military, that she knows, she was there, that it's a lie.  For someone who wasn't getting access, she seems to know everything!  I mean she was getting mean to anyone who dare say different about the Messiah!

She is one of the worst, along with Olbermann, Matthews, and that horrible Rachel Maddow.

"Rachel Maddow, Host of the

"Rachel Maddow, Host of the Rachel Maddow Show on Air America."

Every time I hear that annoying introduction, I want to sledge hammer my TV. The RM Show must not be too much of a show, cause you can't turn on MSNBC without seeing her Frankensteinian head and wiseass smirk. It's like she's in the MSNBC studio 24/7. They're really slathering on the makeup lately, too. Not that it helps.

and just for the record -

and just for the record - if she was a fairly conservative person instead of a flaming off the charts moonbat liberal - the intro would be

"Radical right-winger Rachel Maddow, Host of the Radical right-wing Rachel Maddow Show..."

TM, you're right about

TM, you're right about that

But 'Air America' does sound so patriotic and reassuring, like apple pie...

In other words, NBC is trying to copy the success of Fox by offering an alternative to objective cable news, and failing badly.

Go easy on her, BT. After

Go easy on her, BT. After all, realizing she has no more spare skin to lift, she's clinging on to the only career future she has left - at NBC's third tier news channel.

LOL Chris... No more skin

LOL Chris...

No more skin to spare...that is hilarious...true too.

Speaking of that third tier network...I can't wait to watch that network the evening of the election, plus the following week, I have seen Andrea teary-eyed, all upset before by the results of the election, now it is going to be fun watching the whole cast and crew passing around the Kleenex until the guys in white coats come to take them away...ha ha...ho ho...hee hee...

That's why even though I

That's why even though I loathed McCain until the end of the primaries, I want him to win - if for no other reason to watch the MSM realize that all their efforts were for naught. I suppose it's a matter of the enemy of my enemy is my - er - friend.

McNotObama '08

Exactly Chris... I will

Exactly Chris...

I will enjoy that with more than glee...that is the main reason I want to see Johnny win....even though I still won't vote for him.

Obama is plummeting, slowly but surely...

Ah arrogance...whining...wonderful twosome...doing him in, along with the msm.

With the Aplomb of an Undertaker

Yes Andrea, MSNBC is perserving the NBC brand with the aplomb of an undertaker embalming a corpse.

More like:"It permits us to

More like:"It permits us to go live anytime with bulls--t lies."
