As my colleague Brent Baker previously reported, Wolf Blitzer opened Friday's "CNN Election Center" with Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama's disgusting warning that the Republicans will play the race card in order to defeat him in November:
We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. They're going to say you know what, "He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. Did I mention he's black?"
Blitzer played this soundbite a few hours earlier during the 6PM installment of "The Situation Room," and Jack Cafferty called Obama's comments "very shrewd" and "pretty much on the mark."
I kid you not.
Here's Cafferty's full statement concerning this matter (video embedded upper right):
Very shrewd. Very shrewd to put this out there now before they do, because they will. What is the word they use, you inoculate yourself against this stuff by putting it out there first. He's nobody's fool. It's pretty funny and it -- but it's probably also pretty much on the mark. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that if -- you know, it's already on the Web sites and the Internet, this kind of slimy stuff. And, you know, you'll get these 527 attack ads going and there will be veiled references to all of this stuff. So it's probably pretty shrewd on his part to touch on all of it right now.

IMO, Cafferty can say what he wants, Blitzer is supposed to provide balance. Blitzer is supposed to referee, to challenge their statements, to challenge their assumptions, to challenge their bias. CNN and MSNBC are, for the most part, echo chambers, with very little or no balance at all.
Winning elections means so much these days that even the referees are bought and paid for. Sad.

Not only has no Republican ever even hinted at Obama's skin color in any way, but isn't it interesting that when Hillary said you never know what can happen; Robert Kennedy was assassinated, Obama replied that he doesn't think Hillary meant anything racial at all. Clearly, Obama simply used kid gloves with Hillary (who treated him very badly) but will beat McCain, Bush, and the GOP to a pulp for non-reasons (other than the sole reason of him wanting to be elected president).
I hope McCain responds to this shameless playing of the race card by Obama. McCain tends to let Obama's lies, gaffes, and associations with corrupt people (SAY! How about Obama's association with racists like Jeremiah Wright?! And yet Obama has the gall to say it's Republicans who will be racist?!) slide. But McCain does give Obama criticism when it comes to Obama's inept political views (like Iran representing a "tiny" threat) and when it pertains to the presidential campaign directly (like with Obama's recent flip flop on fundraising). I think this should fit into the latter category. But perhaps Obama used the word "Republicans" instead of "McCain" knowing that John would have had an angry comeback if his name was personally used.
In any case, looks like Obamanation will gleefully use the bogus race card a lot now until November. And yet he didn't use it at all in the primary vs. Hillary despite her repeatedly using the gender card, like "I'm your girl".
It's all about continuing the John Kerry style of demonizing Republicans to get elected because he has absolutely no substance or ideas of his own to run on. Except that in Obamanation's case, he will add the race card to the mix.
Despite some of John McCain's positions that have let down conservativism, compared to Obama McCain is starting to look like Ronald Reagan or Abe Lincoln to me now.
