For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: It's official -- the Brits think we're in a Depression:

We knew things were bad on Wall Street, but on Main Street it may be worse. Startling official statistics show that as a new economic recession stalks the United States, a record number of Americans will shortly be depending on food stamps just to feed themselves and their families. Dismal projections by the Congressional Budget Office in Washington suggest that in the fiscal year starting in October, 28 million people in the US will be using government food stamps to buy essential groceries, the highest level since the food assistance programme was introduced in the 1960s.

Astounding. My airport was packed on Sunday. Vegas is absolutely jammed with tourists. Went to Cirque du Soleil's "O" on Sunday -- $165/ticket, totally sold out. And people are talking Depression. Anybody see the absurdity, or is it just folks like me that travel a lot and see what's actually going on outside of the media's small prism?

I think they're depressed

I think they're depressed because Hillary and B. Hussein are obliterating each other.

Otherwise, the only economic problems we have are the result of dictators, terrorists, environmentalists and other socialists who refuse to take the shackles off the marketplace.

Hillary Clinton was fired from the House Judiciary Committee...

...for, get this, unethical conduct.

Too bad Nixon didn't wait longer to resign. If he had, Hillary would have been disbarred, and would not now be in contention for the White House.

It will be interesting to see if this does go anywhere. If handled properly, it could knock her right out of the race.

It definitely shows that she had ethical problems all the way back in her mid to late twenties.

Anyone ruthless enough to purposely falsify a brief being presented to a judge has no business being POTUS.

Fast, I got tipped off by a friend about this.

He called this morning and told me Boortz had mentioned it on his show. I turned on the radio and then went straight to Neal's site. There was nothing about it posted there, so I went searching for it. I found it on Google pretty quickly.

At first I was thinking this was going to be one of Neal's famous April fool's moments, but he later had the author of the artice, Dan Calabrese, as a guest on his show, and I was convinced it was the real thing.

The article was actually posted yesterday.

Update:
Neal now has it on today's Nuze page:

HILLARY'S UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR

If you were listening to the show today you heard the story about Hillary
Rodham, Associate Council to the House Judiciary Committee back in the Watergate
era. It seems that the Greatest Lawyer in the World stole some documents, hid
them in her office, and then proceeded to write a legal brief that she knew to
be false and misleading. The stolen documents would have outed her. She was
later fired for her actions. Why haven't we heard about this before? For those
of you who missed the story today ..

here's a link to the incredible column by Dan Calabrese
of the NorthStar
Writer's group. Read it .. and be astounded.

The media needs to pick up this story and run with it ... Hillary should be
made to completely explain her actions. A copy of the brief and of the
documents that she confiscated and hid in her office ... documents that would have
shown her brief to be an exercise in intentional dishonesty .. needs to be made
public.

Keep watching folks. Let's see how long it takes for this to become a real
major news story out there.

Theme for Election '08: I want my mommy!

RD et al

RD et al,

This is actually old news. Zeifman wrote about this in the NY Post in 1999: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a37b838fb5c82.htm

Google "Hillary's Own Watergate Scandal" and you find a lot on this. Been around for years. ns

This Was on Powerline Yesterday

Someone started a forum discussion on Zeifman yesterday on Powerline. Naturally, the BDS-infected deniers' only response was to call him a nutbar.

Gee, thanks Noel. :-(

Guess I didn't do a very good job of researching this thing. I really thought I was onto something juicy.

Oh, well.

Theme for Election '08: I want my mommy!

RD

RD,

Hey, don't take it that way. Boortz thought this was a big thing, too. I heard him talking about it today as well. That's what led me to research it a bit, which brought me to that August 1999 piece in the Post.

Here's potentially the bigger issue: this is just another juicy item from Hillary's past media will ignore. Just like they ignore the big 2000 fundraising event in Hollywood organized by Peter Paul after which her campaign totally abused campaign finance laws with total impunity.

If Hillary was a Republican, she would have been thrown out of the Senate in 2001, and would not be running for president today. Period. The double standard is disgraceful, and this Nixon issue is just another example. ns

"...this is just another

"...this is just another juicy item from Hillary's past media will ignore."

Noel,

Wouldn't the Clinton campaign insist (as usual) that this, like all the other contoversies involving her, is "old news" and therefore a non-issue - unworthy of explanation or coverage?

Thanks, Noel.

I guess my being a loyal Boortz fan for over a quarter century caused me to be a little complacent here, as he has always been a fairly rock-solid source for most things, particularly things that are decidedly off the beaten trail. I guess I'm just feeling a little singed.

And you are correct about the double standard that has been applied to her for so long, as any time an article gets posted in here about the MSM pointing out her previously "invisible" warts, we members here literally jump for joy. I think this reaction reflects the frustration so many of us have felt over the years toward those who apparently couldn't see her blemishes before.

The thing I find somewhat puzzling here is that, as this information has been out there since '99, why haven't the Obama people been all over this like paint on a wall?

Theme for Election '08: I want my mommy!

Hey howdy RD... Like I

Hey howdy RD...

Like I said before I think they, meaning Obama, are most likely the ones attempting to renew this....I knew about her being in an office for hours over night and remembered something about it not being right, but not her being in big time trouble over it...then with Noel's post when I read the name Rodino some things came back...anyway I have read so many danged books about her and still have them that some things and time fog the mind if you know what I mean...lol.

Just wanted to throw this in here real quick while I can...(I'm in the middle of finishing cooking dinner...lol)

Fast...I too was wondering

Fast...I too was wondering same thing since there are no links in this story...although none of us would put it past her..

...whether it true or not, it won't make the light of day in the msm...and McCain and crew would never use it in the campaign, that's for sure.

It is soooo Hillary though.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

bt, it better not be a Boortz scam.

He is famous for this sort of thing, after all.

Having heard the later part of his show (I missed the first hour or so) I am pretty confident that he was on the level with this. He interviewd the auther by phone, and he also said his people had checked it out pretty completely.

LOL-If it is a scam, I'm going to be the first caller on his show tomorrow.

Theme for Election '08: I want my mommy!

I'm thinking I may have been fooled...

How would such an explosive diary be hidden by this guy for all these years, and why would he suddenly want to reveal it today? Also, a clerk as low-level as Hillary back then would have probably been scared to death to do something so blatantly unethical...Swiping papers to "support" a brief is a real no-no, and even back then copy machines barely-existed (I think!) and carbon-paper surely abounded in all DC political cases. Hell, Justice Douglass himself was probably watching the case, even though he was no friend of Nixon. I'm starting to get dubious...

OTOH, Hillary IS a slimy one. Also, I know all too well that in very-political legal cases, government lawyers doing blatantly unethical/illegal things is distressingly normal. When it happens, it's rarely-if-ever reported-on, much less actually punished. So, if he has fooled me, this is a good one. My compliments to Boortz. If it's true instead, then I've still got a lot of questions.

Hey RD... I'm really busy

Hey RD...

I'm really busy today...saw your update above..but believe me, like I posted, it doesnt surprise me in the least about Hill regarding her time on the judiciary committee...I have read a lot about her life and she wasn't on the up and up when she went behind closed doors, this is enlightening what she was doing behind the scenes...

The only person who would use this is Obama...so maybe it will be used now, but where was this guy all these years before...seems to me he must be for Obama or something, there must be some reason for this to be coming out now...know what I mean?

...time will tell if this goes anywhere, as it should...I just have my doubts...

Nevertheless...great find friend...I'm certainly not making light of it.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Ok, maybe it's true...

I'm wavering again.

You mentioned Obama, and that got me thinking. Maybe Diary-man isn't just a partisan Democrat like the story said (which would explain the diary not-emerging before) but an Obama-supporter (which explains the diary emerging now). This is totally speculative, though. I'm still thinkin' we may have been taken.

It's On Another Blog

Check over at the Sweetness and Light blog, which ran a 3-parter on Zeifman Monday. It has this original 9 year old article, as well as a newer Zeifman piece.

The reason his original article from 9 years ago never got much coverage was probably because Hilly was running for the Senate at the time, and her enablers in the "objective" media shoved it down their rabbit hole.

Sorry for the late open thread. I'm traveling, and thought someone else would get it.

The really worrisome point is this line, "Choudary said he would not condemn a Muslim for any action." Why is this man still a lawyer? And I'm sorry, but there is no saving grace here, no "he's entitled to his opinion" as an allowance. While he may be entitled to his opinion, he's not entitled to his license to practice law. As an officer of the court, this statement should be sufficient to revoke his license, no questions asked.

Leftist Brits Want - Need - A Great Depression

The world-wide Left is gearing up its efforts to hurt the big evil entity, the USA, in this American presidential election year. They use the same tactics every four years.

How much success have they had?

US vs. UK is no comparison

I recall visiting the UK several years ago and watching a quiz show on the Telly. It was the British version of Jeopardy, Wheel or Fortune, or some such (it really doesn't matter which). What I found amazing was the prize awarded the winner. In the US the winner of those shows walks away with tens of thousands in cash, a new car, or dream vacation. The big prize awarded in the UK was a built-in shower stall . . . and it was a big deal.

The winner was jumping for joy. Why? Because not that many Brits actually had a shower in their homes. It will take a might big "depression" here to take us back to the days when few people have a shower in their home.

I studied in Britain in the

I studied in Britain in the late 80s, and in my student hall there was a guy who designated Sunday as his bath day. Yep, just once a week, and he spent about 3 hours in there, cranking his music.

We had a shower stall, but he preferred the bath. Nice guy, but later in the week I made sure to choose a different table in the dining hall.

recession/depression???

I live about 30 miles Northwest of Atlanta in Cobb County. I took my family out to dinner on Sunday, a weekly occurrence. I commented to my wife and son that the recession had yet to hit our area. Every time we go out to eat at non-reservation restaurants, there is a minimum half hour wait. One hour is more the norm. I have been around for a long time and my experience has been that restaurants fare badly in recessions or depressions. I was in New York/New Jersey area in the early 70s and in the late 80s. I saw many businesses fold, especially restaurants.

It is not very evident here.

Houses are depressed in price, foreclosures have surged, yet there still seems to be lots of folks with enough money to keep the restaurants busy. My development is very modestly priced, yet there are 5 out of 80 homes here that are in foreclosure.

I believe the full impact of the economic problem has not hit across America yet. I believe it will. We are living on and in debt. No home, business or country can continue down the road we have taken and survived.

PS An afterthought--as long as our government fails to uphold our laws, as long as we continue to deficit spend to support legions who do not belong here, we will never get out of debt. Those of you who are twenty/thirty years younger than I will never see Social Security as your government signs agreements to provide this retirement funding to other countries.

Remembering Terri Schiavo ... STATE sanctioned murder

LINK

Just a reminder: death by starvation and dehydration does not constitute dying of natural causes. Terri Schiavo's death was the direct result of STATE SANCTIONED MURDER !!!

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

Hey LK... Excellent

Hey LK...

Excellent link...I had another one yesterday I really liked regarding this too...my IP server went bonkers for six hours, I lost it, nevertheless yours covers it pretty danged good too.

Just wanted to say thanks.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

I still get a sick feeling

I still get a sick feeling thinking about what happened. It was slow motion murder by decree.

Chris...makes me sick also

It has always been a real thorn in my side.

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

Hi Chris... Yep, while

Hi Chris...

Yep, while the msm and the political leftists reveled in it with their sick countdown for 13 long days...I will never ever forget it....this country is past pathetic at times...

I would wake up each morning hoping that her suffering would be over so the glee from the msm would be out of my face...I do not know how her family could live through it.

Her so-called husband is another matter for me that I cannot put on a post here without getting kicked off...

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

LK and BT, I'm

LK and BT,

I'm no hard***, but I'm no softy, either. I don't know why this whole thing affected me so much. Maybe because it was so protracted. Maybe because Ms. Schiavo wasn't just laying there asleep, but was moving about with her eyes open - making this not a clean and clinical thing - I saw her as a living breathing and alive person - despite what many of the "experts" proclaimed. Seeing her as such, it made me sick and angry at the state ordering her demise. I saw the husband as being too anxious to end her life. The whole thing didn't pass my "this just isn't right" test. You know what I mean?

Chris...I sure

Chris...I sure do...especially when her husband was and has been living with another woman, has children with her, her PARENTS want to take her home and care for her...what the hell is the problem with that?! It is their child, their child, that says it all.

LK, BT CN---I usually am in agreement--

LK, BT CN---I usually am in agreement--but my jury is out on the sad Terri situation.

1. Except for modern medicine, Terri would have died long before she became a public figure.

2. Because euthanasia is outlawed in the USA (see Doctor Kervorkian), no medical person could offer Terri a peaceful passage to her eternal reward.

3. I read all the reports before and after. There was some controversy, but most medical personnel agreed she was brain dead.

4. I say this with all respect to you and your viewpoints, I believe (hope) you all know how much I respect you--that said , I believe the natural order of life and death was challenged by man's ability to prolong life, in this case. We have coma patients who linger for years. We keep hem alive artificially via machines and modern medicine, but they are not brain dead.

5. As someone who has been through 3 life threatening situations (hospitalized, SCU, etc), and 4 cancer surgeries, I can say with sincere emotion that I have signed a living will and I would feel totally betrayed if my wife kept me alive by machine to fight her fear of my loss.

6. I am going in for minor surgery on April 29th. There is always a risk when one goes for surgery. I will, as I have done each time in the past, ask Debbie to renew her promise to me that no attempt will be made to keep me alive or revive me if there is a serious problem during the procedure.

I do not ask you to share my beliefs, I only ask you to try to understand them. I believe when God calls one should go. This does not preclude the surgeons from making efforts to save my life.

You can probably guess from the above how I feel about the concept of being frozen for a possible return, Brrrrrrrr!

misterb... I always

misterb...

I always respect your opinions. I wish you the best as always and will pray for you too...I just think the Terri S. case is quite a little diferent here...anyway, I sure am not about to argue it.

Glad to see you here that's for sure...I always miss you and your opinions.

Btw...did you see my link I think above here somewhere about the border fence? Better late than never and screw the greenies and trial lawyers...now if Pres. Bush would just do something the same regarding drilling here and being self-dependent via Home Land Security like he did here with the borders (especially during a time of war) I'd be happy! From what I heard so far today in Congress with the oil co. heads they gave back the real facts right in the face of congress, for once I am looking forward to catching the replay on c-span later tonight or sometime this week.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

bill,We will all be pulling

bill, We will all be pulling for you. I understand your point of view. I listed my reasons above. I don't have anything against what you are doing. Three years ago, my siblings and I came to the difficult and heartbreaking decision of letting my mother pass away in a hospice because there was nothing else that could be done for her, in the late stages of her chronic illness. I hope I never have to make a decision like that ever again. However, in the Schiavo case, something just didn't seem right on the gut level.

mb, the times we live in modern medicine, that changes things.

Yes your comment about modern medicine, that has a big effect on what can be done safely. If it can be done safely then why not, millions of abortions in the name of the god of safety. We are at a cross roads here in the age of oil. The ability to do all these things what a great time to be alive. 300 million people in this country and look what we have for president.. then theres' Terri husband the suck a@@ odds on that! someone else can do the math on those odds, geez

misterbill, you better be here for years to come; I always like what you upload here on NB.. I be Praying for you Brother.

Mister Bill...

As always, I respect your opinion, but I disagree.

A doctor takes an oath to do no harm. Starving and dehydrating someone is harmful.

God is the source of ALL knowledge and entrusts us with it. Keeping someone alive is not playing God, but choosing to end someone's life under these circumstances appears to be doing just that.

Medical breakthroughs occur very frequently. Who is to say that had Terri Schiavo not been alive that she could not have received a miracle.

Her true family was not inconvenienced by her being alive...what did it really matter to her so-called husband?

btw, Mr Bill, you will be in our prayers on the 29th.

[ As an aside, my brothers and I were faced with this situation regarding my father. I knew my father's wishes regarding being kept alive artificially, but I would not agree to starving him. God mercifully resolved the situation. ]

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

Mr. Bill

I think we were lied to by the people who were involved in Terri Schiavo's death.

People often say that they heard that Terri was terminally ill, unconscious, in a coma or in a vegetative state, and that medical care was withheld so that she could die of natural causes. These statements are patently false and the people who made them knew they were lying.

Terri Schiavo was a young and healthy, but severely disabled woman who was not ill nor unconscious she was quite active and healthy. She needed no more care than any six month old infant or a quadriplegic would need.

The fact is this poor woman was a victim of murder in the first degree with several individuals in powerful positions participating in the conspiracy to kill her including her own husband because they could not wait for her to die of old age. The story told in the media is a lie to cover up a murder and press the euthanasia agenda. The feeding tube that she had was there not because of medical need, but for the convenience of the nursing staff. Once this was removed, normal feeding by mouth, including water, should have been given, but the court order prohibited the hospice staff from feeding or providing water in any manner. From that point on she was starved and dehydrated to death over many days.

This was an execution of an innocent disabled woman by court order. This was the first time this has ever happened in this country. The last time this happened was in Nazi Germany when the disabled where sent to the gas chamber.

At this point I will repeat, that this woman would have lived a normal lifespan and could have enjoyed seeing her family, watching tv and listening to music for many years had she simply been given normal care, food and drink, just like we all need. This death was no different than when the Eskimos would leave their old people out on the ice to die of exposure.

Q. Is Panamanian born John McCain a "Natural Born Citizen"

Brit...and others who

Brit...and others who posted who feel as I do about the Terri Schiavo case...I just want to say that I am glad I am not alone in my thoughts about all of this...my heart went out to her and her family, I thought it absolutely despicable what we did in this nation as a whole, including and especially the msm.

"Never murder your opponent when he is committing suicide." ~ W. Churchill

Terri Schiavo--

Obviously, I am in the minority on my opinuion about Terri's passing. When I read Britcomm's response, I realized that I had not given eonough specifics,

First-- The concept--that is what I was addressing. I think most of us are close on that. I have a "Do Not Resuscitate" order when I undergo surgery.

Second: As to the way Terri was forced to pass away---inhuman. I think we all agree on that. The type of Christian I am , I thanked God that she had passed and was away from her suffering. It was not my intent to endorse the method of her dying. When it was my Mom's time, they shot her full of pain killers. She was not conscious. She had diabetes and so, a gangrenous foot infection could not be operated on. They made her as comfortable as they could. They did not starve her. I agree with Brit and the rest that the method was criminal.

Third--Please do not get angry with me about this. Whether we liked it or not--Terri's husband was the person who had the right to make the choice. A very humane thing would have been to have set a contract transferring care and responsibility to her parents. This, I think, would have saved a lot of problems and hate that came out of this.

Fourth--Brit-- Perhaps I am wrong, but I get the impression you are opposed to euthanasia. I am not. Therein is the one big difference between us. I pray I am allowed to make that choice if I need to.

Fifth:--Something I think we all agree on is the strange behavior of Michael Schiavo--it certainly appeared that he was anxious to have Terri gone. On that basis , it is easy to be suspicious. On the other hand, I do not know him. I cannot say if his desire was to free Terri to join the Lord or if he wanted to get rid of her.My posting did not deal with the last aspects I entered above,. My post dealt with the dignity of the human spirit and our right to go to God when called.

Lastly, My mother in law was a victim of Alzheimer's disease as was my mother. Alice, Debbie's mother, displayed symptoms at around 60 years of age. She lived with us for many years. Eventually, care in the home  became extremely difficult and we placed her in a nursing home. She was about 78 years of age. She lived in a vegetative state for 7  more years. I prayed every day that God would free her. It is an extremely emotional issue. How can you love someone so much and yet pray for her to pass. Alice was not in physical pain, thank God. She was put into a walker and there she lived, except for bed, until the day she dies. She had long lost her recognition of us or any ability to communicate.

My prayer for the Lord to take her was not a selfish thing. It was not for me. We gained nothing through her death. We only suffered the loss of a loved one. But, hadn't we alreday lost her? She was a wonderful proud woman who worked all of her days to support Debbie, who through God's love is as wonderful a woman as Alice was. Our reason was for Alice's dignity. I have often wondered if this is not the state of Purgatory for some of us.

At any rate--I think I left the impression that I approved of the method of Terri's passing. I did not, I do not. I am happy for Terri that she is with God. If my religious beliefs do not hold for you, those of you who know me know that it doesn't matter, I respect your beliefs too.

In the end, the comparison to my mother in law and Terri was to illustrate that out of love and concern for Alice, we wished Alice could have passed away without all the years of living in her condition. I do not feel evil because I felt that way.

I post this to share information----not to argue a poition.

"Smooth passage? Doctors who have sat at bedsides after feeding tubes have been removed can offer a studied guess at what a dying person feels. Most believe that when food and drink stop, the body's own chemical reactions smooth the way toward death. "All mammals eventually stop eating and drinking," says Ira Byock, director of palliative medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. "Nature has provided us with a very gentle way for life to end." When someone is in a persistent vegetative state, with no conscious awareness, there is no pain, no hunger and no thirst. "In [Schiavo's] case, there's no reason to believe she'd feel anything," says Joanne Lynn, geriatrician and researcher with Rand Health. "It's as if she were anesthetized." Even when a person is extremely sick but aware, feelings of hunger dissipate after about 24 hours. "The dying process creates an involution of normal hunger and thirst," says Bernat. Movement of the gut slows, as does plasma volume, decreasing the sensations of hunger and thirst. Normal palliative care in such cases includes moistening the lips, mouth, and throat for comfort. And if there is a concern about pain, physicians can treat with drugs. ">

Good Luck

Good luck on your surgery misterbill, I will keep you in my thoughts as well, and thank you for your perspective regarding these matters.

The age of man

First they came for the unborn and I said it's her choice,

then they came for the aged and I said they had a full life,

then they came for the disabled and I said they are just vegetables,

then they came for the insane and I said they are in pain,

then they came for the homeless and I said their misery is ended,

then they came for the poor and I said they were unfortunate,

then they came for the Jews and I said they brought it upon themselves,

then they came for me... and they said we are better off without his kind.

The sixth commandment of God is Thou Shalt Not Kill. God's law is like the law of gravity, you don't break it, or it will break you. God's law is profoundly wise, and we are wise when we keep it.

A very unnatural progression. Kind of creepy. Sounds so...NAZI.

misterbill,

Sir, I hope your surgical proceedure goes flawlessly. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I, too, will be going under the knife (or should I say laser) in the near future.

There is no such thing as a "minor" surgical proceedure. Just read the mouse print on the forms they make you sign.  :-)
