The Democrat presidential candidates refused to participate in debates sponsored by the Fox News Channel.
Yet, Hillary Clinton believes the supposedly conservative cable network is actually treating her better than liberal rival MSNBC.
Ain't that a kick in the head?
As reported by Politico Monday evening, John Harris interviewed the presidential candidate, producing the following delicious exchange (emphasis added, h/t NB reader Thomas Stewart and Inside Cable News):
JOHN HARRIS: Senator, you were offended the other day for reasons that I think a lot of people understood by comments that were made on MSNBC. And in the wake of that, I heard from some of the people on your staff who say, to their surprise, they actually think that Fox News is giving you a better break than MSNBC. Is that your perception?
SENATOR CLINTON: Well, there was some independent study that my staff sent me - we didn't do it - but it was some independent study which seemed to suggest that, that in terms of the fairness of the coverage - you know, look, I'm a mom first. I'm a candidate second. And, you know, I really am troubled by this pattern of behavior and comments that you hear.
JOHN HARRIS: Two-week suspension, you said that's inadequate for what was said. What would be adequate? Are you looking for a firing or something more?SENATOR CLINTON: That's not my job, John. You know, that's the job of the people who run the network. But I think that they need to take a hard look.
This is like the third time they've had to apologize. And there are a lot of things that they haven't had to apologize for that might have merited one. So I wish they would take a look at, you know, some of the pattern of demeaning comments that are made on their networks.
Well, Senator, how about taking a stand for how this network regularly demeans the current President and members of his family while your at it? Or, would that be too presidential of you?
Regardless of the answer, you really have to love how one of the most liberal Senators in Congress appears to believe that she's being poorly treated by the most liberal news network in the nation.

Fox
February 12, 2008 - 16:16 ET by Emma GrumpFrom what I've seen, while FoxNews may favor the conservative candidates, they regularly have the opposition on and even though the hosts may hold different views, they have always treated them cordially and with respect. The same cannot be said of NBC/MSNBC . These so-called journalists go far beyond common disrespect, savagely going right for the jugular. Olbermann and Mathews come to mind as two of the more vicious, as their hatred of anything Bush or conservative triggers irrational thinking on a laughable level, and I think their disgusting (but network-approved) behavior has cost them big time in the ratings.
No fool in the Hamrod Hamlet
February 12, 2008 - 16:30 ET by Lame CherryOK WHY? Ask yourself why would Hillary go out of her way to COMPLIMENT FOX????
Fox viewers do not vote in Democrat primaries, so why?
I believe it is just one more Clinton dive meant to antagonize the supporters of Obama who are HuffPo and Kos wackos. Their hearing that Hillary is complimenting FOX (yes Fox has dripped all over her in cuddle comments by the high skirt babes there.) is like waving a red flag in front of wacko white internuts.
It is the same as "same as Jesse Jackson" fires up black voters.
Hillary is not stupid. She is deliberately destroying her base. She has gotten rid of blacks, Maryland and Virginia now is seeing major departures of women voters which is all Hillary had left.
Her pro FOX comments will fire up the greasy haired feminists and the pimple faced dope head boyz who can not get dates to go out and get votes.
I posted here last night about the ABC feed on Nightline in Hillary talking about "winning" in the coming primaries. Her head was shaking NO NO NO NO NO. She knows this is over and she threw it away. That is psychology talking in public. Watch the feed from last night as it is the first time she has done it.
Obama on the other hand is driving his arm down, down, down like a hammer in battle. He knows he is on the cusp. He takes 5% from Hillary now it will be 10% in Texas and Ohio as women always flock to the winners and abandon the sinking ship.
I await now with "delicious" anticipation of Patrick Fitzgerald to come upon the screen as Richard III has now had a palace coup implemented, the dragon queen is toasting and the clever little betrayals of the DNC royals has begun. Lord Obama is about to find out a trap is laid for him in the indictment of the refreshed memory of Rezko facing prison time.
YouTube has video of a claim Obama was in a sex coke orgy (Gee I posted that would show up here a month ago.)
Bubbles daddy is in bed with a Chechen terrorist staying in America at tax payer expense and old Ziggy is Obama's foreign policy advisor.
and top it all off with Obama facing Paddy Fitzgerald, prize fighter champ of dirty tricks.
..........and alas in yonder plain and glen does the noble warrior on steed doth ride.........to battle yon and battle hither.........never seeing the trap thus laid.
and there in ashes heaped lies the dragon queen........forelorn and forbidding of the tempest past.........her children fled like rats from the tower.........leaving her to weep in monsoon season.
and here the Camelot doth ride his steed.........onward onward in word and deed...........but in deed doth he now has been caught.....and end will he come to his nought.
Oh poor little children in the streets do cry...........gone dragon lady and Othello to the bye and bye..........who will save us who will care..........who will feel for us and dare.........oh the prose of the chaos daily lament........who will pay for what we have spent.
Then comes the mob from distant hollow...........a shadow man for them to follow.........chosen not by vote but by discourse.........a merry leader to dry tears on the palest of pale..........the pale horse.
Watch and listen........be silent and learn..........the play is written for the audience doth yearn.
Disnoble deeds upon death's populist steeds...........while they fought the battle to be won..........the battle was pitched and already done.

I was wondering myself why
February 12, 2008 - 17:20 ET by dscottI was wondering myself why Clinton would compliment Fox even in an innocuous way by dissing MSNBC. It's definitely a head game. My take is she knows she is loosing her teflon status at MSNBC as Obama gains his. Her comments raising the Rezko scandal regarding Obama are falling on deaf ears. (this will enrage the Obama followers and also backfire on Hillary) It appears that MSNBC is going for Obama, so in order to keep them going entirely she is accusing them of bias. It's a typical leftist ploy to accuse someone of something in order to prevent them doing what you anticipate them wanting to do. If they go ahead anyway, walla, the target gives proof as the confirmation of the accusation. Never mind that the Clintons have been the beneficiaries of the bias/privilege all along to that point.
Hillary's use of the Rezko scandal is a NO, NO on a fellow Dem. It shows how far she is falling and how deparate she has become. I'm looking forward to the end of the Clintons, the end of their vicious politics of the last 16 years.
I don't think the MSM is going to allow the Rezko flap much coverage, it's just too unseemly during a Dem primary and might turn off the voters.

She just couldn't quite bring herself to say that Fox is more fair to her than MSNBC.
BTW, I hate that line; I'm a Mom first and candidate second. Whatever is convenient at the time is what she says she is first.
Why is anyone surprised?
February 12, 2008 - 16:45 ET by CaringwhiteguyFox truly is the most fair and balanced of the cable networks. Sometime it frustrates the hell out of me when they don't go for the jugular when interviewing liberals. It's true that Fox cuts liberals more slack than any other network cuts conservatives.
The other side of my comment is that often Fox seems more interested in Natalie Holloway or Britney Spears than it does the political process. They know what sells. Therefore one might assume 1) they are dumbing down a lot of their reportage 2) they are working hard to gain more female viewership because they already have the male demographic.
I am in no way inferring that dumbing down coverage attracts more female viewers .. .. .. .. or am I?

Not a very quick learner, here
February 12, 2008 - 18:37 ET by ThisnThatFox News has always been more fair. If Clinton is just now learning this (assuming she's being honest, which is always a stretch), then how long will it take her to learn anything else if she's elected president? That's the problem with Dims in general -- they simply don't live in the real world.
