CNN Pulls 'Crime Stories' Ad Featuring Sen. McConnell's Picture

As NewsBusters reported, CNN aired an advertisement on Monday for its "Nancy Grace" program on Headline News in which a picture of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kent.) was highlighted in a promo about this fall's "incredible crime stories".

Amazingly, the esteemed Senator from Kentucky was sandwiched between shots of convicted Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, OJ Simpson, and other high-profile crime figures of 2007.

NewsBusters has been informed that after a number of CNN producers were sent our article on this subject, a senior CNN official contacted McConnell's office to apologize for the incident.

Apparently, the ad is being immediately pulled, and a full internal investigation is being launched concerning the matter.

NewsBusters appreciates this decision by CNN, and is very interested in the outcome of said investigation.

Well of COURSE it was a big mistake. After all, they had McConnell, but they forgot to add Bushhitler, Cheney, Rush Limbaugh and all the rest!!

I am sure that the next ad will be "corrected" to feature the rest of them!

I am so tired of this amateurish crappola. Thank goodness for all you sharp eyed folks out there. The lame stream media has been doing stupid stuff for decades. Now someone calls it out within minutes of the act. Is this the kind of thing Helen "Wicked Witch of the East" Thomas is referring to when she talks about how ethical and professional the old media is?

Here's what will happen:

I: CNN will admit this was done with malice. The name of the person will be posted and the individual will be fired.

II: CNN will replace the picture of McConnell with a picture of William Jefferson and his freezer.

Is it April 1st yet?
