Katie Couric to Interview Valerie Plame Wilson on ‘60 Minutes’ Sunday

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

Get ready to learn everything you ever wanted to know about the Valerie Plame Wilson affair, for she is going to be interviewed by CBS's Katie Couric this Sunday on "60 Minutes."

And you can bet your bottom dollar the former CIA agent is going to be grilled like a terror suspect at Guantanamo Bay.

Or, maybe not.

As reported at CBSNews.com moments ago:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Valerie Plame Wilson, the former covert CIA officer whose leaked identity resulted in a national scandal that reached all the way to the White House, will appear on 60 Minutes in her first interview.

Plame spoke to Katie Couric recently for a report to be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Plame Wilson and her husband, former Ambassador Joe Wilson, accuse the Bush administration of leaking her identity to the press as retaliation for Wilson's claim that the White House manipulated intelligence on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

A subsequent investigation into the leak resulted in the conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice of Lewis Libby, the former top aide of Vice President Richard Cheney.

Think Katie will ask Wilson about columnist Bob Novak's take on this matter? Or about Dick Armitage's involvement in the scandal? Or about the Wilsons' suit against top Administration officials being dismissed?

Or, is this just going to be another opportunity for a Bush-basher to use "60 Minutes" to sell Bush-bashing books?

Or didn't you know that Plame has a new book out wherein it's a metaphysical certitude she'll have some unkind words for the President of the United States?

As such, where else would a liberal with a new Bush-bashing book go to hawk it?

Anybody?

Oh, goodie ... I was

Oh, goodie ...

I was wondering when this harpie's next 15 minutes would begin.

Oh there will not be any

Oh there will not be any lying bias here now will there.

This just is absolutely disgusting to me...these people the Wilson team, both of them should be behind bars as far as I am concerned.

I am not going to rehash these two people and what they did again, we have been through it here for a very very long time, but for them to get to sell a book and profit now from it makes me furious.

Despicable, disgusting, deplorable people and if figures that it is Katie and CBS...60 Minutes is nothing but a lackey for the leftists...has been for years now...ah heck all the msm is I know but this is just over-the-top for me.

I love when 60 minutes was

I love when 60 minutes was parading out the line of Clinton womanizers, Republicans weren't too angry...but NOW they're bringing intervewing the left, and left wing media bias prevails

mg... Why don't you

mg...

Why don't you remind of what hard hitting show on 60 Minutes they had about Bill the womanizing rapist Clinton.

CBS has always been a lackey for the left.

Just pointing out that when

Just pointing out that when 60 minutes goes after a democrat, the newsbusters selective memory rears it's neo-con head.

You would be hard pressed

You would be hard pressed to state that 60 minutes WENT AFTER the Clintons.

Serious question gerard

I can't remember the last time I watched 60 minutes so I'm definitely out of the loop.

60 minutes has gone after a democrat?  Other than possibly Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman, which democrat has 60 minutes "gone after"?  This is a serious question and I'm genuinely curious.  Can you really name even just one dem 60 minutes has gone after?  I find that possibility fascinating.

 You can always sniff out

You can always sniff out the Daily Kos loonies when they start using the absurd "neo-con" label.  Gobshite.

Anyway, first of all, 60 Minutes is 60 minutes of Bush-bashing, Republican and conservative-despising bull shite Liberal-DNC-fed-talking-points propaganda.  When Bill Clinton's fleet of abuse victims had their 2 minutes of air time, and they were usually ravaged by the MSM by the way (calling Juannita Broadderick a 'nut case' for example), they always took the side of 'it's a private behavior'-type of thing and reported on the side of poor-Bill-let's sympathize-with-the-serial-woman-abuser, wink-wink.  Is there doubt that this slime ball did the things he did?  Is it truth or fiction, friend?  Did he or did he not lie and ask others to lie under oath?  Did he or did he not get disbarred for his transgressions, felonies, unless you've conveniently forgotten those facts?  Now, did Valerie Plame and Joseph Wilson tell tall tales about their behaviors or not?  Why haven't they been seriously investigated or reported by the MSM?

Vanity Fair cover girl and boy Plame and Wilson are nothing but low-life traitors and liars and the Media were only too glad to try and distort the facts of this scandal to smear Scooter Libby and the White House.  They are still in the biased reporting game when it comes to their heroes, Plame and Wilson.

Anyone who says they support the troops but not the mission is a liar.

Gobshite. Indeed

"You can always sniff out the Daily Kos loonies when they start using the absurd "neo-con" label. Gobshite."

"Neo-con" is the Leftist's favorite insult word-de-jour (actually try "word-de-past 6 years").

It's supposedly a catch-all insult, but in 9 out of 10 cases where the Leftists use the word, it's aimed at people of a certain religious persuasion. Goebbels would be proud of them.

Glad to see that fine word

Glad to see that fine word Gobshite is gaining currency in the states.

"Gobshite" is absolutely

"Gobshite" is absolutely brilliant.   He's an eejit and a total wanker as well, what do you think?

Bollox!

Anyone who says they support the troops but not the mission is a liar.

Ah ... reminds me of my

Ah ... reminds me of my youth in Liverpool.

That was almost my entire vocabulary! In the school yard, not the home, I hasten to add.

Check out my latest YouTube...but only if you support the troops and their mission: Better Men Than Me/The Battle For Fallujah

...and my youth visiting family in Ireland.

Anyone watch Father Ted?

Hi kath... mg has been

Hi kath...

mg has been absent since these posts...rather conveniently...just went poof...hehehee...

As you well know Ifeel the same way you do about the ex impeached rapist of a President and his evil team-mate...let alone the dashing duo of the Wilson Clan.

Come to think of it,

Come to think of it, they're Clinton wannabes, aren't they?  Except that they're both girls, and the Clintons are both boys.

Anyone who says they support the troops but not the mission is a liar.

Geez...not Plame and Company...

I always wondered how Valerie Plame could go to work 5 days a week at the CIA building, and claim someone "outed" her....all you had to do was to follow her into one of the CIA HQ's.

Big Secret.

Old News, and all the Football Players will be saturated Sunday with Good lookin Babes on the NFL sidelines, they won't stay tuned for 60 minutos.

What good is a Free Press, if it is a False Press ?   David Foote  GoE

Um, mgerardn, that post makes no sense

Only a troll would not be embarassed by that post.

Ignoring that whatever point you're trying to make is clearly off-topic, care to name this list of "Clinton womanizers?"  Do you even know what "womanizer" means?

...and your second sentence is just gibberish.....

RJ, it could mean

Clinton womanziers could refer to all the guys that are going to come out that had affairs with Hillary while Bill was fooling around.  Although I don't remember 60 minutes interviewing them or the story....

Right exlib. mgerardn's post possibly qualifies as the most

inane ever posted on this site.  I can't decide if he's stupid or just drunk.

Here's another possible interpretation:  "line of Clinton womanizers?"  How many Clinton womanizers were there?   Should we open a new line of investigation?  :^>

I tell ya RJ it's like I

I tell ya RJ it's like I said...I think he has that Randi Rhodes syndrome...one too many or fourteen...lol.

Well, BT, it was my first interaction with this mgerardn charact

...and you were right...nobody home.....

Oh sorry RJ... Thought

Oh sorry RJ...

Thought you had already experienced mg...now I am laughing.

Second sentence?

RJ, are you being too charitable?

Lacking a period, (that fundamental element of punctuation signifying the end of a complete thought) the post doesn’t really have a first sentence. Adding one mentally does not seem to help.

Embarrassed indeed.

And these lefties wonder why we won't take them seriously.

I wonder if anyone will ask

I wonder if anyone will ask Val if her hubby was lying to the CIA when he returned and officially reported that Niger HAD been contacted by the Iraqi's, or if he lied when he wrote in an article for profit that Niger HAD NOT been contacted by the Iraqi's?

1.)  If he had lied to the CIA in his offical report, that would only make him a felon.

2.)  If he had lied to the public through his article in the paper, then he is a fraud.

Anyone want to bet whether this questions is asked?  I will put it 5-1 against....

BD... Of course that

BD...

Of course that won't be asked...neither will Katie ask Val about her influence in getting him sent there either.

Or if her husband leaked her name first in the first place.

All good questions....

All good questions....

BD... I would also like

BD...

I would also like to know when they knew that Armitage was the second person that so-called leaked her name.

I just wished they would of been able to be questioned so badly in a courtroom, I listened to her stellar lying performance in front of congress, she wouldn't last in front of a good lawyer in a court of law...she would be in big trouble...

Softballs?

She's gonna get helium-filled, anti-gravity, long-distance beach balls.

I remember when Diane Sawyer was going to interview Hitlary, conservatives said she wasn't going to ask any tough questions. When SeeBS said, "Oh, yes she will," I decided to tune in:

Diane: OK, Hillary. Everyone wants to know, did you do it?

Hillary: Of course not! Blah blah blah.

Diane: OK, good. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Softball. Fawn. Thank you for coming on and answering the tough questions.

Ignorance is bliss. It's easier to repeat a mindless slogan than to do some actual research.

It will be guarnteed that Plame will..

It will be guaranteed that Katie will allow Plame to continue to turn the accusation into a statement of fact that she was "Outed" as retaliation for Joe's "Factual" report in the NYT.

Then it becomes a question

Then it becomes a question of:

Did he lie to the CIA, or did he lie to the NYT?  Because both positions he took are at odds with each other.

Excellent point BD.

Excellent point BD.

BD isn't Joe above reproach after all

BD, I am sure that one story or the other only contradict in very small ways and ways that are not really important to the central fact of the story, which is...

Isn't Joe above reproach since his wife got outed by a nasty Republican trying to get even for Joe's story which was meant to tell the truth about the nasty Republicans?

If that happened to you, then you can comment, but since you have never been outed as a CIA spy by vindictive Republicans.  Well, then, you just can't comment.

An outed CiA "operative's" moral truthiness is absolute.

Even if it weren't true, didn't we all HOPE it was true?  And couldn't it BE true?  If we close our eyes and hope??

<sarc-off>

I say let Katie soft shoe

I say let Katie soft shoe these frauds.  The only people who side with these creeps anymore are those totally obsessed in their hatred of Bush that they ignore all facts.  Even the Democrat candidates won't touch these phonies with a ten foot pole.  Keep it up CBS...keep reminding us who the left props up as "heroes".  We can use these constant reminders of what disgraceful, treasonous scum people like Berger and the Wilsons are and why we cannot tolerate the Dems getting back the White House to elevate them to higher positions of power.

Plame and Cuetical on 60 Minutes of Pain

Will Katie ask if Plame and Wilson are returning (reimbursing) the taxpayers (GAO) for the waste of pay and benefits including expense accounts for travel which produced nothing, did they do the job requirements they were hired?  Why are we paying for their retirement? I think I speak for many Americans, if we did not produce we were gone, however they did nothing but spend US taxpayer money, get married and write a book>then retire.  This is amazing!!  OK give them a Nobel....and a raise.  Thank goodness NFL is on...

Be very careful when

60 Minutes vs Fox

I just thought of something...I wonder if CBS thinks 60 Minutes with this lying bimbo-ette is going to hurt Fox while they are having the republican debate in Orlando Britt Hume moderating....just a thought.

Of course then there is football to consider...lol.

Is this a case of the

Is this a case of the blonde leading the blonde?

"Fighters are fun but bombers make policy"

Hey!

I resemble that remark.

It's the blonde leading the blind(ly biased).

David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive

Mutually exclusive audiences

I wonder if CBS thinks 60 Minutes with this lying bimbo-ette is going to hurt Fox while they are having the republican debate in Orlando

I doubt it, BT.  Anyone inclined to watch the debate is not likely to want to sit through this rehash of Plame's lies, and anyone who wants to hear the Plame fairy tale again probably wouldn't be caught dead turning to Fox News for anything.

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Late Games Could Wreak Havoc With Plame

BT, CBS has two 4:15 games on Sunday in major markets (the Jets vs the Bengals, and Oakland vs KC). Fox has 3 4:15 games as well, one of which is Chicago vs Philadelphia. So no matter what happens, "60 Minutes" will likely be delayed in many parts of the country, and football fans may still have some late-ending games on Fox to watch instead of Katie sucking up to Val.

Good!...to both above

Good!...to both above posts...lol.

Expect Couric to ask such

Expect Couric to ask such hard-hitting "questions" (i.e., prompts from Couric to Plame for boilerplate leftist talking points) such as: What do you think of George W. Bush?  How much damage has Bush done to the United States?  Why do you think the White House attacked you and your dear husband?  Blah, blah, blah, ....

TE... BINGO! That is

BINGO!

That is exactly what it will be...throw in frog-marching Rove and we can't forget VP Cheney either.

CBS' TV and Publishing divisions team up to bash Bush

Hmm...  Who's publishing Plame's work of fiction?  According to Amazon.com, it's Simon and Schuster.  (Scoll down.)  And who owns Simon and Schuster?  Why, CBS.  CBS's publishing arm seems to specialize in Bush bashing books and takes advantage of their connections to the network for publicity.  Here are two examples in one NYT article.  Here's another from CBS News' own website.  And another.  I think there are more, but you get the point.

So would CBS ever air a pro-Bush story if it would undermine book sales for their corporate sibling?

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

viking, Thank you so

viking,

Thank you so much...that is great information, at times I tend to forget all the leftist connections.

(As an aside I heard the NYT's lost a big chunk of money today with a big pull-out...breaks my heart.)

viking and bt, This must

viking and bt,

This must be the "synergy" we hear about so often. CBS promoting a book that I doubt more than a few people will actually buy. Does synergy work for a dead horse? I mean, just how interesting and relevant is this woman's story? It's so five minutes ago...

Hi Chris... This woman's

Hi Chris...

This woman's story is sooo right on the spot.

I hope it doesn't do well, but she and maybe her lying team-mate will most likely be on all the leftist msm...with them gushing over her/him.

I still hope the book is a flop.

I doubt if even the

I doubt if even the Bush-hating libs care about Plame's story now. They only cared when they thought her story might help get Cheney impeached. Now that it fizzled, they'll have discarded her and moved on to new things they hope will work. She's worthless to them now...

-

And who owns Simon and Schuster?  Why, CBS.

[Amazon.com]  This title will be released on October 22, 2007. Pre-order now!

Good catch, Nkviking.  So one of the first stops on Valerie's book tour is an in-house, cross promotion interview.

Her are some questions for

Her are some questions for Katie to ask (by the way, why is 60 minutes using a lib to interview a lib...oh yes, that is the only type of interviewer they have)

How badly were you victimized by Bush, Rove, et al?

How corrupt is the Bush Administration?

WHo is worse, Cheney, Bush, Rove, or all of the above?

ANd for the hard hitting one:

What songs are on your ipod?

Tarted Up and Dumbed Down

Actually, I think that would make a great caption for the picture that accompanies this story.

Then Katie will interview

Then Katie will interview Scooter on 60 Minutes next week..  right?

rimsky... I am laughing

rimsky...

I am laughing out loud ....In answer to your question in between the chuckles....

...Right... when pigs fly eh?

Plame affair

These are the kinds of reports that we are going to bombarded with more and more as the election approaches. Only the sympathetic "journalists" are going to get the interviews that will bash the Republicans and conservatives. The MSM is going to have a Dem in the White House and preferably Hillary.

All the usual suspects on

All the usual suspects on the left are praising here book in advance of it's release and her characterization that Dear Joe was the first guy to be swiftboated done't you know.

The _Plame Game

I never really understood what supposed gain the Bush administration would get from leaking the fact that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA, whether she was at one time "undercover" or not.

Was this, as trumpeted by the MSM, a real blow to her and her duplicitous husband,  to release the fact that she was a CIA spook?    How was that exposed  knowledge intended as a payback to Joe Wilson?

In my estimation all that would do is make both of them notable and of course, more wealthy.  Some payback; a dolt could figure that out.  The Bush clan certainly would have taken a far different tactic if revenge was their motive.

She was engaged in a blatant

She was engaged in a blatant conflict of interest in promoting her husband's trip to Niger.  Some people, myself included, might have thought an intellectually honest press might have taken up the charge here.   Others might have expected that disclosure to undermine the credibility of Joe Wilson.  The actual events are astonishing.  A corrupt and craven press siezed upon this opportunity to carry out a witch hunt against people in the government they hate:  conservatives.

One Question

When is the Playboy spread coming out. Plames 15 minutes are just about up, better cash in while she can.

Texas has a population of nearly 21 million people, all of whom are ashamed to be from the same state as the Dixie Chicks. (IMAO.us)

What a waste....

of air tme. It will be one of those grilling like a sympathetic girlfreind type of grilling. Let Brit Hume or sombody else from Fox News interview her then you'll see a real interview.

Sunday's schedule

See-BS.

Personally, I will have yogurt expiring on that day that I need to eat. That's far more important than watching Katie al-Couric interview Vanity Fair's favorite "covert agent".
