Time Mocks 'Fair and Balanced' Fox Debates to Bret Baier

Before the latest debate, Time magazine contacted Fox anchor Bret Baier for a “10 Questions” interview – except in the August 5 Time it says "7 Questions" although they plainly published ten. Michael Scherer admitted to Baier “Back in the 2012 debates Fox News has some of the toughest questions of any of the networks.”

And yet, the Time Washington bureau chief still mocked Fox’s old “fair and balanced” slogan in a protest against conservative groups having more of a voice in Republican TV debates:

TIME: The Republican National Committee has asked media organizations to partner with conservatives for the debates. CNN is bringing in Hugh Hewitt. At Fox, you’re doing it with three news anchors. Is that the RNC acknowledging that “fair and balanced” has a conservative tilt?

BRET BAIER:  We didn’t like that stipulation from the beginning, and so we pushed back pretty hard because we wanted what we used last time to be the template. I’m surprised the other networks went along with it. We wouldn’t.

Apparently, Time thinks a fair and balanced debate requires a moderator like George Stephanopoulos who literally worked for the Democratic front-runner. They never make jokes about objectivity when the shoe is on their foot.
