'Tampon Crafts' Website Makes Nativity Scene, Promotes 'Bloody Good Christmas'

Penny Starr at CNSNews.com identified the latest ugly collision of Christmas kitsch: “A website that teaches visitors how to make crafts made of tampons includes a nativity scene with wise men, Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus made of tampons.”

Somehow it’s not awful enough that someone can’t resist dragging the holiest scene for Christians into the powder room. They have to make fun about a “bloody good Christmas”:

“Gather 'round the manger for the Christmas Miracle,” a caption under a photograph of the nativity scene says. “These three kings come bearing gold, frankincense, and … fresh-scented feminine hygiene products.”

The nativity scene is featured on the homepage of tamponcrafts.com and includes the message, “Have a holly, jolly, bloody good Christmas with these tampon crafts!”

Penny added that instructions say  “The Baby Jesus” is made from “OB tampons,” which are about half the size of regular tampons and the instructions for Jesus call for a “small halo out of metallic pipe cleaner.”

Read the whole thing. Penny has a knack for finding the cultural outrages. It goes without saying -- but I'll say it any way -- that these tampon crafters wouldn't try to make a Mohammed with these materials.
