MSN Swats at Actor Kirk Cameron, Christian 'Extremist'

March 4th, 2012 1:24 PM

On its "MSN Now" page dedicated to what is "trending," MSN swatted at a CNN interview with the headline "Kirk Cameron provokes with anti-gay comments." The unnamed writer began with a sneer: "Kirk Cameron alarmed GLAAD and all 12 of his fans after making statements on CNN against not just gay marriage but the existence of homosexuality. "I think it's unnatural, I think it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization," he said. When asked what he would say if one of his own children was gay, he answered, "Just because you feel one way doesn't mean we should act on everything that we feel."

MSN didn't even spell out the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Debate (or Defamation, if you want to be formal about it.) Their headline was "Tell Kirk Cameron It's Time to Finally Grow Up". It came with a graphic decrying how Cameron went from "Teen Idol" to "Anti-Gay Extremist."

MSN didn't explain that if Kirk Cameron has only 12 fans, whey would they and their gay allies be so desperate to slam him?

The site added that "GLAAD tells TMZ  that Cameron is 'out of step with a vast majority of Americans, particularly people of faith who believe that gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be loved and accepted based on their character and not condemned because of their sexual orientation.'"

GLAAD was delighted that Piers Morgan offered their official line of Liberal Unity: "If one of my sons [came out], I'd say 'that's great son, as long as you're happy.'".

UPDATED: On Twitter, GLAAD the so-called anti-defamation group is promoting defamation from Roseanne Barr that Cameron was molested as a child: "its pretty obvious to me that kirk was the victim of hollywood's worst ppl as a young handsome boy".

They also touted CBS late-night host Craig Ferguson, who tweeted:

Rush makes me ashamed to be a middleaged white man and Kirk Cameron makes me ashamed to be a failed actor. We don't all think like that NoH8
