Time Reporter Sucks Up to NBC's Brian Williams as 'Handsomest Man'

Time political reporter Michael Scherer is really impressed with the looks of NBC anchor Brian Williams -- or he'd like to work for NBC Nightly News. In his minute-by-minute summary of the Monday night Republican debate, titled "What You Missed While Not Watching the NBC GOP Debate in Florida," what Scherer thought was most striking was the handsomeness of Williams.

The first time, he wrote, "Brian Williams, the handsomest man to have never been a movie star, is not wasting any time." On and on it went, as Williams was dapper and debonair and detective-like:

-- "But dapper Williams tries again with Gingrich..."

-- "Williams still looks like how every 1940s radio-drama detective sounded. He asks Romney whether he can appeal to conservatives."

-- "Debonair Williams, he of the slender face and half-Windsor knot, throws it to former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who has
apparently been onstage this entire time."

-- "Never-a-bad-hair-day Williams cuts them off and goes to commercial break."

At one other point, Scherer claimed "Williams asks the right question, by avoiding the L word" with Gingrich (lobbying), so he wasn't just dapper and debonair, he was also sharp as a shiny tack.

Scherer clearly found the debate grew tiresome. Near the end, he wrote, "Some talk about Terri Schiavo, the woman in a vegetative state who became a cause célèbre for conservatives in 2005. The answers are inconsequential." They're at least not as consequential as the earth-shaking handsomeness of Brian Williams.
