MSNBC's Tamron Hall: 'Should Rush Limbaugh Be Canned?'

March 14th, 2012 3:19 PM

A day after MSNBC featured a guest who compared Rush Limbaugh to a "serial murderer,"  Tamron Hall on Wednesday eagerly wondered if the radio host "should be canned." The News Nation anchor repeatedly teased a new Bloomberg poll claiming 53 percent of Americans want Limbaugh to be fired.

Stoking her liberal audience, Hall wondered, "And should Rush Limbaugh be canned? That's a question that's been floating around, but a new poll shows how many Americans feel it's time to say goodbye." A MSNBC graphic touted, "Fire Rush?" [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Earlier in the 2pm hour, Hall previewed, "Plus, we have details on a new poll that shows just how many people answered this question: Should Rush Limbaugh be fired? How many said yes? We've got that new poll number out there."

The Bloomberg poll's results:

More than half of those interviewed also say radio host Rush Limbaugh, who called a female law student testifying publicly in favor of birth-control coverage a “slut” and “prostitute,” should be fired based solely on those comments.

...

As for Limbaugh’s derogatory comments about Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, men are split over whether the radio host should be let go from his job -- 49 percent say so, while 47 percent disagree. Fifty-six percent of women support the move compared with 39 percent who don’t. Almost one in three Republicans, 30 percent, say Limbaugh should be fired for the remarks.

Hall didn't make clear who, exactly, should do the firing.

On Tuesday, MSNBC anchor Martin Bashir featured Politico reporter Joe Williams. Williams highlighted his background covering the police and mocked, "... [Law enforcement] always would catch the serial murder because he was driving around with a busted taillight, not because he had, like, three bodies in the trunk."

He added, "I mean they would always have some incident to really capture him on and this was Rush Limbaugh's."
