Letterman on Syria: ‘Now Obama Can Start a War the Next President Will be Stuck With’

David Letterman took a comedic swipe at George W. Bush and Barack Obama Wednesday.

Talking about what appears to be a looming American strike on Syria, the CBS Late Show host said, “It's going to be kind of an enjoyable switch for Obama. Now he can start a war that the next president will be stuck with” (video follows with transcript and commentary):

DAVID LETTERMAN: Well, U.S. warships are heading towards Syria. Oh my God. It's going to be kind of an enjoyable switch for Obama. Now he can start a war that the next president will be stuck with. So it's a little bit of a change-up there.

[Applause]

They're saying now that the war against Syria will last no more than two days. [Laughter] They're saying, that’s what they're saying. It's going to be a two-day war. Well, you know what that means - we’ll be there another ten years. Another ten years.

Is that possible?

Did David Letterman actually question the veracity of Barack Obama?

Will wonders never cease?
