Biden: Transgender Discrimination 'Civil Rights Issue of Our Time'

To paraphrase the immortal words of Britney Spears, oops - he did it again.

According to the Huffington Post, Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday called transgender discrimination is the "civil rights issue of our time."

The Vice President was meeting with campaign volunteers at a field office in Sarasota, Florida, when according to a press pool report, he singled out a woman "he thought had beautiful eyes."

The woman said something to Biden the pool reporter couldn't hear leading the Vice President to say it was "the civil rights issue of our time."

The pool reporter identified the woman as Linda Carragher Bourne of Sarasota. Her daughter was Miss Trans New England, and she was asking Biden if he would help them.

"A lot of my friends are being killed, and they don't have the civil rights yet. These guys are gonna make it happen," Bourne told the pool reporter.

For the record, there really is a Miss Trans New England Pageant.
