Doctors in Dresden, Germany, said Friday they had successfully removed a 62 pound ovarian tumor from a woman that had been previously diagnosed with obesity.

According to Agence France-Presse, Irmtraud Eichler, aged 60, had been told by doctors her weight gain was a function of her diabetes and a lack of physical activity.

As a result, they had put her on anti-obesity medicine.

When Eichler could barely stand and was having problems breathing as a result of the swelling, her daughter insisted on getting another opinion.

An ultrasound was performed at that time detecting the tumor which was not benign but fortunately wasn't particularly malignant.

Doctors at the university clinic then removed the tumor - weighing 62 pounds and measuring two feet by 20 inches - as well as her ovaries, uterus, and thyroid.

A spokesman from the clinic said the tumor actually filled a wheelbarrow.

Eichler lost almost 90 pounds after the seven hour procedure and can now walk again with crutches.

She told the local news agency DPA, "I am a new person."
