Romney Introduces Ryan As 'The Next POTUS' - Will Media Mention Obama Did Same Thing?

August 11th, 2012 9:42 AM

It seems a metaphysical certitude the big takeaway for the Obama-loving media from Saturday's announcement by Mitt Romney concerning his running mate is that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee introduced Paul Ryan as "the next President of the United States."

As they bash Romney for this error, will they mention candidate Obama did the same thing when he introduced Joe Biden as his running mate in 2008? (Videos follow with transcribed highlights and commentary.)

When the introductory applause died down, and after Ryan commented about being in front of the U.S.S. Wisconsin, Romney joined him back at the podium to correct his mistake.

"Every now and then I'm known to make a mistake," said Romney. "I did not make a mistake with this guy, but I can tell you this: he's going to be the next VICE President of the United States."

And that likely will be what the media will focus on from this event for the next 48 hours despite Obama doing exactly the same thing when he introduced Biden as his running mate four years ago.

Will the media note that as they bash Romney for his error?

Don't count on it.
