Bashir Asks DNC Official How Romney Can Be for Middle Class While Trying to Hurt Poor

February 9th, 2012 4:35 PM

Are there limits to how far the folks at MSNBC are willing to go to get Barack Obama reelected?

Before you answer, consider that on Thursday, Martin Bashir actually asked the communications director for the Democratic National Committee, "How can Romney claim to be fighting for the middle class when his backers are some of Washington's most notorious lobbyists and when he wants to repeal legislation that's been of direct benefit to many poor people in this country?" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

MARTIN BASHIR, HOST: Brad, how can Romney claim to be fighting for the middle class when his backers are some of Washington's most notorious lobbyists and when he wants to repeal legislation that's been of direct benefit to many poor people in this country?

BRAD WOODHOUSE, COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE: Well, he can't be, and Martin, he's not. I mean, he's certainly not looking out for the middle class.

If you were thinking that there had to be a counterpoint to this question and answer - like someone from the Romney campaign or the Republican National Committee - to offer an opposing view, don't kid yourself, for this is what qualifies as fair and balanced on MSNBC today.

Makes you wonder if all the salaries of MSNBC employees along with the ad revenues should be included in President Obama's fundraising tallies and reported by the Federal Election Commission.

Associate Editor’s note: As you are likely aware, since the financial collapse of 2008, charities and non-profit organizations have seen a sharp reduction in donations. Although the environment has improved, contributions are still nowhere near where they were prior to the recession. Unfortunately, the Media Research Center has not been immune. With this in mind, your support has become more important than ever. With a critical election approaching, the liberal media needs to be monitored 24/7. As we have been predicting for months, the press are willing to do anything to get their beloved politicians elected and/or reelected. As such, we need your help to fight this fight. Any contribution, even $10, is greatly appreciated. Please consider a tax-deductible gift to the Media Research Center to help us battle the liberal media. Thank you.
