Scarborough Smacks Down E.J. Dionne's GOP Obstruction Charge: Obama 'Owned Washington' for Two Years

I sure hope Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne as well as other unapologetic Obama-loving media members were watching MSNBC's "Morning Joe" Thursday.

After Mika Brzezinski read a snippet of Dionne's "Obama's Paradox Problem" wherein he basically blamed all that ails the nation on GOP obstruction, Joe Scarborough accurately noted, "the President owned – OWNED! – Washington, D.C., in 2009 and 2010" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

MIKA BRZEZINSKI, CO-HOST: Well, along those same lines, in the Washington Post, E.J. Dionne writes about “Obama’s Paradox Problem,” and he says this:

"Obama hates to bring up the nasty fact that we have political parties, but very soon, he will have to point out that it is Republicans in Congress who are blocking his agenda. They will either have to start worrying about their low ratings or begin to pay a real price for obstruction."

JOE SCARBOROUGH, CO-HOST: I, with all due respect to E.J. Dionne, the President owned – OWNED! – Washington, D.C., in 2009 and 2010. Owned it! Fifty, at points he had a filibuster-proof Senate. He had a seventy-nine vote margin in the House. And E.J. Dionne, again with all due respect, he’s a nice man, but he was blaming Republicans then as well.

At some point, E.J. Dionne and other people who celebrated the triumph of Barack Obama are going to have to turn the mirror on the man that they adore and realize that they’ve been writing the same columns whether this president was, had a filibuster-proof Senate or whether they had John Boehner as Speaker.

Indeed.

Folks like Dionne dishonestly ignore how much power and control of our entire government Barack Obama had his first two years in office.

Yet after only eight months of a Republican House, all the nation's problems are due to the GOP and the Tea Party.

It's a bald-faced lie that columnists like Dionne and virtually everyone on MSNBC with the exception of Scarborough shamefully purport on a regular basis.

If the "Morning Joe" host is really sickened by this dishonesty, maybe he should talk about it every show including how prevalent it is on his own network.

A conservative can dream, can't he?
