Krauthammer: We've 'Always Known' Saudi Arabia Is Responsible for 9/11

The White House has been coming under increasing pressure in recent days calling for the public release of 28 pages that were omitted from the 9/11 Commission Report. Many speculate that the pages contain evidence that Saudi Arabia aided in the attacks and Charles Krauthammer and Laura Ingraham dialed up their own presser Monday on Fox's Special Report with Bret Baier. Both called for pages to be released to the public.

We should obviously put it out even if it is going to hurt our relations,” Krauthammer stated. “But, I mean the larger story is we have always known that Saudi Arabia is ultimately responsible for 9/11,” he continued. He went on to argue that even if they did not provide the funding and training they did have a hand in the attacks:

“The Wahhabi ideology spread all over the world, the madrasas, everything that has come out of it. This was a tiny minority sect of Islam which has become world wild and dominant precisely because of the money, influence and active participation of Saudi Arabia in its spread. So, whether it was involved through individuals in this case or not is, I think, less important than it is responsible. And that there is no way to hide it.”

Ingraham approached the issue from a different angle, calling for transparency. “Well, it fuels the distrust that people have for government right now,” she remarked. She continued by saying that the pages may have already been leaked to the public. She cited rumors that the pages contained evidence that the Saudi government was providing funding for the terrorists’ flight training, and other logistical aid, to the cell in San Diego. She also argued that the public should know who’s responsible for ruining lives with the TSA and who’s pretending to be a friend:

And I think the victims of 9/11, the American people, our whole life has been upended by 9/11 with TSA and everything else we go through. We should at least know who our real friends are and who pretends to be a friend as they stab us in the back or fund those who blow up our buildings and our people.

With an administration that has been anything but transparent it’s hard to say if the pages will be made public any time soon.

BRET BAIER: The White House today on this controversy about 28 pages in a congressional report about 9/11. That some say may show ties to Saudi Arabia. The royal family, someone in Saudi Arabia financing at least one or several of the hijackers of 9/11. This, of course, almost 15 years after 9/11. Five years to the day after Osama Bin Laden has been killed. And the former chairman of the select committee on intelligence Bob Graham saying, “it is incredible that it would take over 13 years to review over 28 pages.” Back with the panel. Charles?

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Well, it depends on whether what John Brennan said is true or not. If is a correlation uncorroborated material some of which is true some of which is not. It was all read by the 9/11 Commission. And they decided that not be released. Then it might injure us if it gets published.

I think if that's not the case, we should obviously put it out even if it is going to hurt our relations. But, I mean the larger story is we have always known that Saudi Arabia is ultimately responsible for 9/11. The Wahhabi ideology spread all over the world, the madrasas, everything that has come out of it. This was a tiny minority sect of Islam which has become world wild and dominant precisely because of the money, influence and active participation of Saudi Arabia in its spread. So, whether it was involved through individuals in this case or not is, I think, less important than it is responsible. And that there is no way to hide it. Everybody understands that.

LAURA INGRAHAM: Well, it fuels the distrust that people have for government right now. I don’t think--Probably a lot of people believe what John Brennan is saying, rightly or wrongly. And I think there have been snippets of this report that have leaked out and it regards the two of the hijackers is San Diego and government funding--Saudi government funding of flight training and so forth, logistics. That either happened or it didn’t.

So I mean, when he says it’s uncorroborated lets corroborate it or not. I mean, let the sunshine in here. And I think the victims of 9/11, the American people, our whole life has been upended by 9/11 with TSA and everything else we go through. We should at least know who our real friends are and who pretends to be a friend as they stab us in the back or fund those who blow up our buildings and our people.
