Grammy award-winning country singer LeAnn Rimes said her performance at a Republican fundraiser on Tuesday  in Washington, D.C., was “a job” and that she was “not making a political stance.”

Via Twitter, CNSNews.com asked Rimes, “What influenced you to participate in the GOP fundraiser tonight?”

Rimes replied, “It's a job! I'm entertainment, not making a political stance.”

When asked whether she had performed at Democratic fundraisers, Rimes said, “Yes, I performed at the Democratic convention years ago and for Clinton several times.”

Rimes was also asked if she supports or opposes celebrities endorsing candidates for public office.

“I think everyone should make their own decision without being swayed by a celeb,” she said.

The event, which took place Tuesday night at Washington's W Hotel, was sponsored by America's New Majority, a joint fundraising committee founded by Rep.-elect Jeff Denham (R-Calif.)

The event’s invitation cited House Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-Ohio), Majority Leader-elect Eric Canter (R-Va.), Majority Whip-elect Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and National Republican Campaign Committee Chairman Pete Sessions as invited guests.
