MRC’s Brent Bozell Slams the Liberal Media’s ‘Stunning’ Bias, ABC Covering Up for Epstein

November 13th, 2019 10:24 PM

Appearing Wednesday on the Fox Business Network, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell told Trish Regan on her eponymous prime time show that the liberal media have shown “such hypocrisy” on the Trump whistleblower. And in reacting to our latest study, Bozell ruled that they have put our “democracy...in peril” with their rampant, anti-Trump bias.

After three generous teases (each accompanied by a video mash-up of liberal journalists saying “impeachment”), Regan began with the scandal enveloping ABC after Project Veritas exposed their decision to quash reporting about Jeffrey Epstein.

Regan called out ABC’s hypocrisy of how much disdain they have for the whistleblower within their own ranks while the one who touched off the impeachment inquiry has been treated like “a total hero” by ABC and their liberal media allies (who’ve assisted ABC by not covering their black eye).

Bozell began by laying out how he would have dealt with the situation if her were a journalist:

BOZELL: You know, I would think that if I was a real journalist and that — that I just — I just pretty much exempted about 98 percent of people who go on the news these days. [REGAN LAUGHS] But if I was, what I would do on hearing this report, my reaction would be what the hell is going on? What story about the Clintons and Jeffrey Epstein? I’ve got to get to the bottom of that. That’d be my reaction. I’d want to know the story was. Instead, their knee-jerk reaction is to try to destroy the person who’s trying to tell the truth.

REGAN: And — and — and they tried indeed and got the wrong person. There had been some thoughts that that person had gone to CBS News and so ABC calls CBS. CBS then fires that young woman who says wait a second. I wasn't a leaker and Project Veritas says that’s right she wasn't the leaker and leaker is still over at ABC. You know, the — the terms here are interesting.

Bozell added that there’s “such a double standard and such hypocrisy” considering how much energy the liberal networks have purportedly used in searching for the person who leaked the video to Project Veritas versus unmasking the Trump whistleblower.

Later, Regan pivoted to the latest MRC study from Rich Noyes that found 96 percent of the Trump coverage on the broadcast network evening newscasts was negative (from September 24 to November 5).

Regan exclaimed: “I’m not surprised — maybe the only surprising thing about your study, Brent, is it's not 99 percent negative coverage of Trump. But you looked at the recent data and recent report and you found that 96 percent was negative. Only four percent positive. That’s amazing.”

Bozell quipped that he’s “surprised ABC isn’t trying to out the four percent that tried to report the news” and called Noyes’s findings “stunning” before citing his biggest single takeaway: “[T]he number that I thought was most incredible. Donald Trump, as commander-in-chief, ordered and succeeded in the assassination of the most dangerous terrorist in the entire world and the media gave him 67 percent negative coverage.”

Regan agreed that it was truly “amazing” in that “it really shows you he cannot do anything right” in the eyes of the press and that their bias “frankly is dangerous for our country.”

“Yeah and, you know, it’s the point that I continue to make, it's democracy that's in peril. They are trying to overturn the will of the American people,” concluded Bozell.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Report: ABC News Execs Freaking Out Over “Mole”]

REGAN: Tonight, executives at ABC News are working overtime in a desperate attempt to find the mole inside their organization. You know, the person who leaked an anchor telling her producer in a private moment that was caught on camera this.

AMY ROBACH [on 08/19/19]: I had the story for three years. I’ve had this interview with Virginia Roberts. We would not put it on the air. Um, first of all, I was told, who’s Jeffrey Epstein? No one knows who that is. This is a stupid story. Um, then the Palace found out that we had her whole allegations about Prince Andrew and threatened us a million different ways. [SCREEN WIPE] She had pictures. She had everything. She was in hiding for 12 years. We convinced her to come out. We convinced her to talk to us. Um, it was unbelievable what we had, Clinton.

REGAN: Project Veritas, who published this, says the person, the mole is still in-house at ABC and that’s alleged — allegedly causing tremendous anxiety, causing all these execs to freak out there, especially now that the mole has a secret Twitter account and is out there, tweeting about the total hypocrisy of the network's news division.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: “Mole” Calls Out ABC Hypocrisy on Twitter]

And the mole may kind of have a point here because, you know, the same exact news organization seems to think whistleblowers should be protected. So, I see. If you are the whistleblower at ABC, you deserve to have your career ended, but if you are the so-called whistleblower at the White House, you’re a total hero. How exactly does that work? Joining me right now, Media Research Center president Brent Bozell, whose organization just published a fascinating study, by the way, on the new normal of news organization in the Trump era, 96 percent of all the coverage, negative. Go figure. Brent, it’s good to see you.

BRENT BOZELL: Hey, Trish, how you doing?

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: MRC: Research Shows 96% of Trump Coverage Negative]

REGAN: Very good. We’re going to get to that study you guys did in just a second. But first, what the heck is going over at ABC News?

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Report: ABC News Execs Freaking Out Over “Mole”]

BRENT BOZELL: You know, Trish, look at — listen to the terms we are using here. Whistleblower? Noble. Mole, is a pejorative. There’s something wrong if you’re trying to do what they’re saying the Trump whistleblower is trying to do. You know, I would think that if I was a real journalist and that — that I just — I just pretty much exempted about 98 percent of people who go on the news these days.

BOZELL: Trish — Trish —

REGAN: Huh uh, go ahead.

BOZELL: — sure, Trish, but you know, you follow this and ask yourself, okay, if there is that kind of — of energy behind uncovering and blowing the whistle on this person, ought there not to be the exact same kind of energy about uncovering who the whistleblower is with Donald Trump? It’s such a double standard and such hypocrisy.

REGAN: Why are we even calling —

BOZELL: By the way, Trish, everybody is seeing it

REGAN: — the person a whistleblower, right? I mean, this is an NSA, CIA, White House leaker.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Bozell: Media Labels Hearsay on Trump “Heroic Whistleblowing” But Exposing Hypocrisy Is “Leaking”]

BOZELL: You know, you had The New York Times

REGAN: Someone who reported a bunch of office gossip and suddenly it turned into an impeachment hearing.

BOZELL: — you know, The New York Times reported back in September that they knew the name of the whistleblower and said they were going to disclose some limited information so the American people would be able to make a judgment and they said he's a career officer from the CIA. Okay. If giving a limited amount of information is a good thing, isn't giving total information a very, very good things? And that's what the Republicans are asking for.

REGAN: You know, shouldn’t the President — this is not a criminal investigation, shouldn't the President have the right to face his accuser?

BOZELL: Yeah he should. You know what? I — you know, if I were — if I were advising Republicans, and Republicans listen to me right now, what I would do is tomorrow morning, I would have every Republican demand that Adam Schiff get out of that chair, sit down, take an oath at that table, and say once again under oath that he doesn't know who the whistleblower is.

REGAN: Yeah, well, his team met with the whistleblower before the whole thing was filed.

BOZELL: Yeah. He —

REGAN: So he’s going to know who he is.

BOZELL: — this is where it started. It started with him and his office. There needs to be an investigation into Adam Schiff. How about them apples.

REGAN: Yeah, how about them apples? Really quick. I'm not surprised -- maybe the only surprising thing about your study, Brent, is it's not 99 percent negative coverage of Trump. But you looked at the recent data and recent report and you found that 96 percent was negative. Only four percent positive. That’s amazing.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: MRC: Research Shows 96% of Trump Coverage Negative]

BOZELL: Yeah, I’m surprising — I’m surprised ABC isn't trying to out the four percent that tried to report the news. Isn’t it stunning? You know, there was — there was — the — the number that I thought was most incredible. Donald Trump, as commander-in-chief, ordered and succeeded in the assassination of the most dangerous terrorist in the entire world and the media gave him 67 percent negative coverage.

REGAN:  Amazing. Amazing. No, it really shows you he cannot do anything right. It shows you about the bias in the media today.

BOZELL: It’s an agenda.

REGAN: And that’s frankly is dangerous for our country, is it not?

BOZELL: Yeah and, you know, it’s the point that I continue to make, it's democracy that's in peril. They are trying to overturn the will of the American people.

REGAN: Crazy. Hey, Brent, it’s really good to see you. Thank you for joining me tonight.
