MRC’s Brent Bozell: ‘I’m Just Loving’ the Media Freak-Out Over Trump’s Dinner Plans

November 16th, 2016 2:41 PM

Media Research Center founder and president Brent Bozell joined the Fox Business Network (FBN) on Wednesday afternoon’s Cavuto: Coast to Coast alongside FBN’s Connell McShane and Heat Street’s Jillian Melchior and admitted that he’s “just loving” the liberal media’s latest meltdown over President-elect Donald Trump leaving the press behind on Tuesday to sneak out for dinner.

Host Neil Cavuto led into Bozell by noticing that one would think that “Trump is really way behind the curve here” on announcing his cabinet and staffing appointments but “[h]e’s actually ahead of it, but you would never know” based on the media hysteria over his transition shake-ups.

“Oh, you know, I'm just loving this, Neil, I'm just loving this — all this talk, I read the headlines about how he is not, Trump is not being transparent. We just got done, we're finishing with eight years of an administration that said it would be the most transparent in history, that did nothing but hide information from the American people,” chuckled Bozell.

Bozell went onto point out that “[t]he media never cared about the fact that we have never gotten to the bottom of Benghazi” or other Obama administration scandals such as Fast and Furious, the IRS, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Further, the MRC founder and president pointed out they never truly were invested in exposing the Clinton Foundation but suddenly care about transparency now: “[B]y God, by gum, Trump didn't tell them he was going out to dinner last night, this is awful. This awful. Got to tell you, Neil, I’ve been laughing all day.”

A few moments later, Bozell observed that after the media awarded the lion’s share of coverage to Trump both in the primary and the general election, they’re trying to get back at him “with their attacks on Steve Bannon” and truly “not giving” him “a fair shot here.”

“You know, I've been hearing for the last two days about how Donald Trump hired a white supremacist who is a anti-Semite and, you know, on and on it goes. All you have to do right now, anybody who’s listening to me, Google Steve Bannon and any one of accusations you won't find one lick of evidence, yet media are all piling on. CNN and everyone else is piling on,” he concluded.

NEIL CAVUTO: You know, Brent, I was looking through past presidents and picking their cabinets or going through staffing issues and — because I thought, wow, Trump is really way behind the curve here. He’s actually ahead of it, but you would never know. Now, I don't know when he will finally have a cabinet selected or for that matter who all the principal players will be but, historically, he is actually running a little bit ahead.

BRENT BOZELL: Oh, you know, I'm just loving this, Neil, I'm just loving this — all this talk, I read the headlines about how he is not, Trump is not being transparent. We just got done, we're finishing with eight years of an administration that said it would be the most transparent in history, that did nothing but hide information from the American people. The media never cared about the fact that we have never gotten to the bottom of Benghazi. They never cared what happened with IRS, it’s never been resolved. They never cared about the VA scandals. They never cared about Fast & Furious. They don't care that Hillary Clinton destroyed 33,000 emails. They don't care about the Clinton Foundation, by God, by gum, Trump didn't tell them he was going out to dinner last night, this is awful. This awful. Got to tell you, Neil, I’ve been laughing all day.

CAVUTO: You know, Brent, it might be collective guilt on the part of the media. They were never really big fans of him. Maybe to, you know, Jillian's point they kowtowed some of the things he wanted and weren't given they scrutiny — whatever that now they will make up for that?

BOZELL: Well, they sure are making up for it with their attacks on Steve Bannon. You know, I've been hearing for the last two days about how Donald Trump hired a white supremacist who is a anti-Semite and, you know, on and on it goes. All you have to do right now, anybody who’s listening to me, Google Steve Bannon and any one of accusations you won't find one lick of evidence, yet media are all piling on. CNN and everyone else is piling on. No, they're not giving a fair shot here.
