For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: U.S. death toll in Iraq reaches 4,000.

What does this milestone mean to you? Are round numbers just that -- round numbers?

Given that media coverage of the war has rapidly declined since the success of the surge, is it a metaphysical certitude press outlets will be all over this announcement for the next several days?

Is it also a metaphysical certitude that once they get off this issue, and things continue to improve in Iraq, media coverage will go back to near nil until we get to another casualty milestone they feel important?
