Uygur Urges Dems To Be More 'Vicious', Like Republicans

One more sign the Age of Civility is over: an MSNBC host urging Dems to be more "vicious" toward Republicans. Oh, and to engage in more "name-calling."

Apparently writing off any career ambitions of succeeding to the Miss Manners slot, Cenk Uygur issued his recommendations last night in the course of disagreeing with a Dem congressman who was insufficiently coarse for Cenk's taste.

View video after the jump.

Watch Cenk make his unseemly suggestions to Oregon Dem congressman Earl Blumenauer.

EARL BLUMENAUER: From my vantage point, I don't think we want to get into a name-calling effort with Republicans.

CENK UYGUR: I disagree.

BLUMENAUER: I don't think name-calling actually does a lot of good.

UYGUR: Look, Congressman --

BLUMENAUER: We're going to lose, name-calling.

UYGUR: No, no, no.  You're wrong. Look, I love you, but you're wrong. Here's why I say that: they call you guys names all the time.  That's why we've just shown you the poll where people blame the president for the gas prices, cause they did this stupid "drill, baby, drill" bit, and it worked! And then they say oh, it's the Democrats fault for the gas prices, and it's not.  Because they're vicious in how they attack you.  When you guys sit back and you're not as vicious, honestly, and you say, well, you know, and then the next thing you know people blame you when it's not your fault at all!

Note: Uygur calls Republican proposals to increase drilling "stupid."  Does Cenk believe the laws of supply and demand have been suspended?  His proposal to deal with higher gas prices?  Repeal the $4 billion a year tax subsidy to the oil companies.  I'm generally no supporter of corporate subsidies, but Uygur never explained--because he can't--how increasing the costs of production will cause gas prices to fall!
