The Obama FDA today changed labeling requirements for use of the RU-486 abortion pill.

Noting the revision, the Daily Beast website cheered the move as "progress" in its Cheat Sheet news digest item, "FDA Cuts Abortion Pill Label Requirements."

"FDA Cuts Abortion Pill Label Mandates: A win for many pro-choice advocates" gushed the teaser headline and caption in the Cheat Sheet sidebar. "PROGRESS" in bold red letters appeared above the teaser headline (see screen capture below):

Here's the full text of the digest item itself:

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday eased some of the requirements for taking an abortion-inducing medication. Abortion rights advocates have fought regulations in Texas, North Dakota, and other states that have long mandated providers to follow outdated requirements from at least two decades ago. The eased set of requirements will reduce the number of trips a woman has to make to a doctor, lowers the dosage (which was seen as unnecassarily high), and increases the number of days she has to take the pillsfrom 49 to 70 days after her last menstrual cycle.
