Catching up with an item from Wednesday, add actor Henry Winkler to the long list in Hollywood of those wishing for President Obama’s re-election, taking a swipe at Mitt Romney in the process. “I hope that the man who actually cares about 300 million Americans as opposed to very few is re-elected,” Winkler told Nikki Schwab for the Washington Examiner’s “Yeas & Nays” column.

In DC to promote medical research on upper limb spasticity, Winkler informed Schwab that’s he’s never met Barack Obama, but “I would like to get his autograph one day.”

Winkler (IMDb page) also recalled: “I did send the entire collection of Hank Zipzer: The World’s Greatest Underachiever, which are the novels that I write for children, to his kids and got a beautiful letter back from Mrs. Obama.”

The jacket Winkler wore in his role as “The Fonz” in the 1970s Happy Days sit-com is on display at the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History and Winkler admitted: “I came to visit my jacket, which is in the Smithsonian....In my heart I visit it every day, but in body, whenever I’m here, I go to the Smithsonian.”

Winkler is now playing a recurring role on USA’s Royal Pains and, with Kevin James, is in a film being released next week: Here Comes the Boom.
