ABC Staff Laugh at Bill Maher's Anti-Religious Mockery of Tim Tebow

December 31st, 2011 10:03 PM

On Wednesday's Good Morning America, ABC staff could be heard laughing in the background when substitute news reader Dan Harris recited the less vulgar part of HBO comedian Bill Maher's infamous tweet mocking Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow's religious beliefs. (Video below)

After informing viewers that there were calls for a boycott against Maher's HBO show over the "controversial tweet," Harris continued:

The part of the tweet we can show you reads, quote, "Somewhere in Hell, Satan is Tebowing, saying to Hitler, 'Hey, Buffalo's killing them.'"

Low-volume laughter could then be heard in the background.

Below are both video and a transcript of the news brief that aired at about 8:04 a.m. on the Wednesday, December 28, Good Morning America on ABC:

DAN HARRIS: There are growing calls this morning for a boycott of comedian Bill Maher's talk show on HBO, all because of a controversial tweet

After the Buffalo Bills beat Denver last Saturday, Maher took aim at the deeply religious Bronco's quarterback, Tim Tebow. The part of the tweet we can show you reads, quote, "Somewhere in Hell, Satan is Tebowing, saying to Hitler, 'Hey, Buffalo's killing them.'"

"Tebowing" refers to kneeling down in public prayer. No comment yet from Tim Tebow, who generally does not respond to any public taunts.
