Tim,

I have no connection to GU and (according to the petition questionnaire) it seems no standing to sign onto this important effort.
However, your post got me to thinking about the details of the curriculums being taught at GU and other Catholic Colleges/Universities… My question is simply, “Do these institutions buy into the argument of ‘Darwinism as Fact vice theory?’” I’d be interested to find out from students, alumni, or even professors at those Catholic institutions.
Thank you for posting some good Food for Thought!

Hmm
Submitted by Tim Graham on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 2:54pm.
Catholics are not as opposed to Darwinism as evangelicals in general as a matter of church teaching, so it may not be as essential to orthodoxy as actually believing that abortion is an evil, for example.
Yes Tim, I understand that…

Yes Tim, I understand that…
… but I phrased the question wrong. Actually the point I was trying to make was about “academic freedom' within the bounds of Church teaching (reveled truths). So let me try this again: “Do Catholic Colleges/Universities allow for a healthy academic discussion on the merits of secular subjects (i.e. Darwinism) which other institutions of learning have determined to be either ‘settled questions’ or ‘out of bounds’ for the purposes of inquiry.”
Thanks,

CBS kept referring to the war in Afghanistan, which is where the "Ranger" in question served, as "NATO's War." I wonder why that is? Not too long ago, it was always classified as "Bush's War." I guess you'll never hear CBS ever refer to any armed conflict as "Obama's War," not when NATO is available as a scapegoat, especially when there is a protest involved. Mustn't link Obama to any type of negativity, you know. They cant afford to lose their coveted seat at the Correspondents Dinner.

Jer ---
Submitted by matthewdean on Sun, 05/20/2012 - 5:43am.
For any number of reasons it is easy to be 'contemptuous' of someone who fails to share one's political beliefs.
There are conservatives on these threads who disagree with one another on lots of conservative based issues - and to such varying degrees within the confines of those issues that it certainly is no stretch to contemplate why venom can so easily replace reasoned discourse between politically disparate entities.
The ins, outs, ups and downs of politics --- even when considered only from the perspective of ideological 'purity' --- can be dizzyingly disappointing; and when political personas - especially such polarizing figures as Obama - are factored into the equation, it becomes exceedingly difficult to separate an individual's personal political preferences from that person's very personality itself.
I detest Barack Hussein Obama intensely - so much so that it is extremely hard for me to be anywhere near civil to anyone who favors, supports, or defends the worthless pos.
That said, threads here at NBs are a far cry from one's occupational digs; and I wonder why you would pose a statement that comes so close to impugning the professionalism of a medical practitioner who appears to be merely stating that based on past practice, a known lefty is quite likely to continue acting as a lefty ?

Submitted by Jer on Sun, 05/20/2012 - 6:23pm.
No, this is the point where you concede that assurances not to worry and of having no intention to pursue a matter are not "threats to sue", but rather the exact opposite of same. But such is consistent with your pattern of behavior over the past year and a half which is notable for less attention to fact and a heightened inclination for insult.
But what you should REALLY do at this point is to apologize to cajun and Georgia Girl for interrupting a thoroughly friendly exchange to interject your noxious, crude, and condescending--and utterly gratuitous--attempt to associate these ladies with smoking crack. I understand it's a cliche`--and that it was intended to make your smearing of me more dramatic--but it was still rude and offensive.

Submitted by stratman on Mon, 05/21/2012 - 7:16pm.
Assurances based on what? I didn't bring up the issue of a lawsuit. You did. Precisely why would you need to tell me you weren't going to sue me? I didn't ask.
You, an attorney, PM me to angrily instruct me that you are not suing me and that is not an implied or veiled threat? Coming from an attorney? No prior discussion of litigation? Because it's common for attorneys to arbitrarily, capriciously, and angrily discuss lawsuits without any purpose or message behind it?
Shall we get a show of hands of those on the forum who have non-threatened litigation on others or been the recipient of the same? Of those that answered 'yes', how many involved an attorney and shrugged it off as mere words without meaning, absent subtext?
Now you malign my professional character but somehow you are the victim. Classic Jer. One for the books.
Is that your attempt at Jedi mind control? Very dramatic but utterly false.
If you understand it as dramatic cliche then you know it was not an attempt to tie illicit narcotics to anyone. This contradiction not only undermines your premise but also completes one of the most preposterous posts I've read from you.
Lastly, if "interrupting" an "exchange" and "interjecting" oneself in the public forum on NewsBusters were grounds for apologies, then you, Jer, better get busy apologizing. Ditto goes for you having been noxious, crude, condescending and utterly gratuitous.
While awaiting the results of the showing of hands on attorneys who non-threaten people with talk of lawsuits, please respond to the following questions so that all may unequivocally know your position on Obama and his stated desire to fundamentally transform America:

Now please answer a couple of related questions. Where was your concern when I was being repeatedly called a "shyster" which is a clear, unequivocal, and direct attack on my personal integrity and ethical conduct as a member of the legal profession? I don't recall a peep of protest from you on those occasions. In fact, my recollection is that you encouraged it. Does it boil down to political differences making me fair game for defamatory labels?

signature attached to a piece of paper saying that I am required to protect an in-your-face-lefty, on a conservative site, from the slings and arrows of misfortune, name-calling, and insults?
You said something along the lines of you hoped strat didn't treat his patients like such and such; making a comparison to his disagreement with your political beliefs.
How is that not impugning his professionalism?
Cuz you say so?
Lawyers have been derogatorily called shysters for far longer than I have walked this earth; and while I may have alluded to someone else calling you a shyster, my recollection is that I, personally, never tagged you with that label. Odd, eh, that YOUR leftist recollections are always at counterpoint to what the conservative recalls?
Who says I have to render a peep; give a poop; or forgo saluting the poop deck when a fellow conservative hammers your hide or yanks your chain so hard it lifts you and your liberal bent up and over the yardarm above the poop deck leaving yards of sunlight showing beneath your flailing arms?
As a lefty, house lib or no, you might want to consider - being a Dem and a vociferous defender of the Clinton's and Obama does not necessarily translate into what every conservative sees as being a person suffused with integrity and ethical conduct.
There is no such thing as "fair" game in politics; if defamatory labels upset you so, why do you continue to climb into the arena and wave the red flag in the bull's face?

All you had to know was his Senate background, let alone the rest of his background. They all should have run screaming from him.
I will never forget the night the vote came down. I looked at my husband and said: "Oh, this is going to be BAD. Our country may never be the same again."

Uh, that question needs no reply, but NO on the crack "crack." I didn't appreciate the dig, however. You assumed a lot that is not the case. Believing Jer is a "pound pet" I am rescuing doesn't even come close my thinking on this. There was a very specific reason I approached Jer on this.
I'm not going to give up one single opportunity to "speak" to someone who will voted O who will at least listen. I approached Jer where I could, asking him to consider three points. I only chosevthose because of what I know about his views already. It's his vote, but I have a right to speak up if I feel led to, and I stand by what I said to him, and there was a very good reason why I mentioned it to him. Even so, I was mainly kidding around with Caj in what I posted to her (the way I said it), and she would know that.
I'm no fool. I KNOW Jer's a liberal and the views he holds on about all of the issues. I also get MD's frustration about O and what is happening to our country and have full awareness of it -- as probably 100 or so of my posts indicate.
But I do what I can, and although I can get really intense, I'm not going to insult people, thinking that's somehow going to help. And I'm most certainly going to support conservatives who are at least trying.

Even a Northern boy like myself knows not to mess with la grande dame de la Louisiane.
Thank you for your understanding.

This is pretty much impossible for me to explain because the reason I got upset is rooted in a sensitivity I have regarding Caj, and she'll know why. And the personal aspect to it is not that she has ever smoked crack! LOL.
But I can't explain why, so pretty much, there is nothing I can say at this point.

I really was dumbstruck by your post which is why it took me so long to respond. I have respect and praise for the Conservative women on this forum. I am sorry I caused conflict with you. It was never my intention.

Thanks -- I really appreciate it. All is fine. I wish I could explain what was going on from my perspective, but I really think it's one of those weird things where it's best we just call it a "communication glitch" and let it go...something went wrong, and everyone ended up feeling rather misunderstood/confused/stunned. Okay, not everyone, but some of us! Maybe even the bystanders on this thread were as confused. LOL.
But we're good. Thanks for the gracious post.

Well, first of all, you're darn funny, Mister! I think you will be just fine now. It was too big of a secret to keep. ;) Also, I want to say this "cheerleading outing" was entirely MY fault, not Cool's. I posted that last paragraph too late, as Cool was obviously posting his at the same time.
But the second thing I have to say to everyone is that if Jer makes a promise to you, the man keeps it!! And he could have hung this over my head (blackmailed me!), but he never even came an inch toward doing so. He never hinted on threads or anything. Maybe it was a silly secret, but still, it showed me he is trustworthy to keep his word. :)

My Great great Grandma was full Chippewa. But, all the Polish and Danish kinda ruined it I guess.
Seriously though, if you have ever driven through one of the large Reservations, you would be appalled at the living conditions. To use these folks as a pawn in your election is quite disgusting. I should also mention, these reservations are perfect examples why the Gov has no business subsidizing folks.
Anybody, white out?

Okay. To comfort myself, I think by now nobody here would ever think I could be mean.
But apparently, there just may be a little something to that airheaded cheerleader stereotype. That was a really dippy mistake. I might as well laugh at myself.
Well, somebody please change the subject!

The fact that you were once a cheerleader, and will now speak to me, is now a source of great pride for me! I'm cool now. Ok, I know a cool person now. :)

I can't get your link to come up -- so I just have no idea what you're talking about.
UPDATE:
Boudin (or anyone), what is the Rove link? What did he say? I'm really curious!
