The Official End

Submitted by Jman449 on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 4:03pm.

For conservatives, today is the official end of the 2012 campaign. We don't have a candidate. Even if Santorum was far from perfect, he beats Romney by a long shot. If conservatives are honest with themselves, the best thing to do is fight a guerilla war within the Republican Party to take it over. There is very little chance of Romney winning as the alternative to the idiot in the White House, so why not withhold our sanction for this and blow out all the Karl Rove-types in the process? The only thing that is going to turn this country in the right direction is total conservative leadership. There is now no chance of that happening in 2012. If Romney wins, there will be no real chance of conservative leadership until 2020. If he loses, the Roves of the world will be jamming Jed Bush down our throats in 2016 and blaming conservatives for Romney's loss no matter what we do. This must end. We can't take down the libs until we take down the Red-dog Republicans.

Because that's EXACTLY what the Democrats want, THAT'S why!!

Romney is the nominee, for all intents and purposes.  So get over, it, suck it up, and drag your butt to the polls in November, hold your nose if necessary,  and VOTE FOR HIM!

Donald Rumsfeld once said, "You go to war with the army you have."

And you go to the election with the candidate you have.

Just how long do you think it will take to "clean out" the Republican party?  Are you really willing to leave Democrats in control until you have the Republican Party you want???

Here is a post I made the other day about this subject.

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 8:02pm.

Always Opposed to Gay Marriage

"The second part of his statement is clear: Romney does not favor gay marriage. He supports the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) that bars federal recognition of gay marriage, as well as a constitutional amendment to do the same.

As governor of Massachusetts, Romney did everything he could to stop gay marriage there after the state's high court allowed it.

Romney responded to the 2003 Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision by vowing to keep the state from becoming, as he put it, "the Las Vegas of gay marriage." At the time, Romney stated: "I agree with 3,000 years of recorded history. ... Marriage is an institution between a man and a woman."

A Second Source

"I agree with 3,000 years of recorded history. I disagree with the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. Marriage is an institution between a man and a woman. I will support an amendment to the Massachusetts constitution to make that expressly clear. Of course, basic civil rights, and certain appropriate benefits should be available to people in non-traditional relationships. But marriage is a special institution between a man and a woman, and our Constitution and laws should reflect that."

Texndoc: Romney's position seems pretty clear to me. Do you want him to back off that position and just go with the "It's a matter for the States", and just leave it a that? I'm not sure where you are going.

**********************************

I left my reply to Texndoc in my response to you, cocodrie, to reproduce my post in it's entirety.  Now I just grabbed this from the vast spaces of the intrawebs.  Maybe you  or someone else can come up with a position that shows Romney actually favors gay marriage.  I'd have to see it to believe it.  Romney may have made ambiguous statements about gay equality, but he has made it clear that by those statements he means gays should not be discriminated against, economically.

I have not done an exhaustive search on everything Romney said with regards to gay marriage.  Maybe someone can post where he favors gay marriage, from a first hand source, not some web-blog or other unreliable news outlet.

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Wed, 04/11/2012 - 8:48am.

Thanks for posting that, but nothing written there can be tracked and verified. I would think an article that was that extensive would have some sources that point to Romney's actual words or written statements.

6. Romney, in violation of at least 8 articles of the oldest functioning constitution in the world (which is a constitutional felony), the Massachusetts Constitution authored by John Adams, falsely claims the court (who possesses no law making authority) “legalized same-sex marriage” and that he had no choice but to obey the “new marriage laws.”

I would have liked to have been able to follow this claim up with some greater detail with regards to what Romney said or did.  I would think this would have been pretty big news and pretty easy to source.

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Wed, 04/11/2012 - 10:06am.

I'm not a Romney Bot and don't want to come off as defending everything he does. I'm just searching for the truth, which is oft times impossible to find, particularly when it comes to clever politicians.

I wish we had a more Reaganesque candidate running for President as a Republican.  Romney's record as gov of Mass does not sit well with conservatives and the left will use his time as governor to try and force wedge issues among conservatives and independents.  We can't afford to have another four years of the worst thing to happen to the oval office, (with he possible exception of Wilson).  The primary is over, so it's time to focus on getting Obama out and transforming the Republican party into a Constitutionalist party that respects the limited powers of the federal government.

It is not going to happen in 2012, but we need to start the process as soon as we can. Have you noticed how Republican presidential candidates have become the Democrat candidates of old? Every election cycle, the ball is moved further and further left. We have to start making a stand and looking at the bigger picture beyond the next four years.

I am not implying or stating this about Jman, but bank on overt and covert Leftists using arguments similar to Jman's to demoralize the Right into voting in November. Of course it is a fallacious argument as Anyone But Obama is the key sentiment this election.

With Romney, we might get some of what he says he's for and will do on the (more) Conservative side. With Obama, we know we will get all of what he says if he can on the radical Leftist side.

If Romney and his people will fight as dirty and hard, if not more, that they did against other Republican candidates, then Romney will win. If Romney goes the McCain way and does not use and attack the weakness of Obama and fellow Leftists, then Obama will win.

The campaign is going to get very dirty quickly.

This is how Republicans lose elections. The sore losers get all huffy refuse to support the candidate if it isn't their preferred one, or go third party (if his name is Ron Paul) and feel 'virtuous' about themselves for voting their principles while they hand over the country to the enemy.

Democrats, no matter how much they hate the nominee, go out and work for him and vote for him.

Does anyone think those PUMA's who supported Hillary until the last dog was hung in '08 stayed home and didn't vote?

We can't fix the country's problems in this election no matter what. That is a fact. Where are we (assuming you are a conservative) in four years when Romney gets beat and the Red-dog Republicans are still firmly in control of the party? In the same place we are now, praying some liberal can win 50.1% of the vote! We will not have advanced one inch! There is something achievable in this election. Conservatives need to make a move on the Republican Party. We need to send a message that Democrats calling themselves Republicans are NOT acceptable as candidates. The country will still be increasingly liberal, though. Yeah, that sounds like a REALLY smart way to go, sell out any chance at a future so we can put a band-aid on a brain hemorrhage. Hey, get out your "JED BUSH 2016" shirts, that's the next guy the Republican Loser Establishment will be pushing!

If you had the ability to see the true condition of this country, you would know we are already half way there. Study the number of people on the dole compared to working folks from 1960 to 2011. Then look up the total number of jobs that have ceased to exist with the countless new regulations, mandates, laws, penalties and taxes designed to destroy capitalism. Look how he wants to go to socialized medicine. Look how the government has taken over the housing industry. Then compare the racial and class division that has escalated in the last 4 yrs. Then look at how the justice system is being attacked from the radicals and from within (AG) in order to remove all power, credibility and trust in our justice system. Look how he has given himself the power to call for martial law while fighting citizens rights in the 2nd amendment. Look how this POTUS has relegated congress to a meaningless group of faux representatives. Then read a history book or two. Especially the ones about Stalin and Lenin.

And according to Gary Younge, the idiot who writes for The Guardian, from Chicago, the Republicans' problem was that  (all emphasis mine):

Its pragmatists could not produce a candidate with a proven appeal to moderates outside the party.

The nature of the Republican party these last few years is such that some potential candidates would not enter.  lAnyone who has said anything sane about climate change, evolution, gay marriage or the economy took aook at what it would take to be nominated and bowed out. Romney stayed in because he was prepared to renounce all the sane things he had done, thereby winning the nomination and losing what integrity he had.

My reply to Someone Said was accurate. Reagan was the guy in 1976 who wasn't good enough to beat the guy who wasn't good enough to beat Carter. Just like Romney wasn't good enough to beat the guy who wasn't good enough to beat Obama in 2008.

The repubes did it again, just like they did in '08

They allowed the MSM to select their candidate for them, and just as before, they had plenty of help from a vapid, compliant party "leadership."

We're so screwed you can forget the KY, as I just don't see most conservatives voting for Mittens RINOmney - Obama or no Obama.

And when you throw in the massive voter fraud we all know is coming, and the 50% of the electorate that is too stoopid to tie their own shoes and/or wipe their own asses and...

God, my head hurts.

If Conservatives

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Tue, 04/10/2012 - 9:21pm.

If conservatives stay home and not vote against Obama, then I agree with you. We are screwed. When a conservative can't understand the importance about keeping Obama out of office for next four years, even if it's just Supreme Court nominations that should be considered, then we are doomed. The conservatives would be dumber than the people who are voting for Obama because they believe in Obama.

Where's the resident hater?

Submitted by Unsane on Wed, 04/11/2012 - 6:48am.

cbeyer has GOT to be celebrating right now. Either that or he is begging for Romney to declare Santorum an Enemy of the State right now, to be captured by cbeyer, who will personally treat Santorum in ways that would make Beria vomit.
