Open Thread: White House Admits There Are Few Actual ‘Green’ Jobs

By NB Staff | April 06, 2012 | 10:34

A  A

Today's starter topic: It's not often that you see an Obama Administration official admit to making a mistake, which is why stimulus creator Jared Bernstein's remarks on so-called "green" jobs are worth preserving. According to Bernstein, the Administration didn't realize before the stimulus money was being allocated that operating solar or wind plants doesn't really employ a large number of people. In other words, the promised green jobs turned out not to really exist.

Full quote from Bernstein is below:

BERNSTEIN:  I was very active in the implementation of the Recovery Act, and one thing we found about clean energy was that you build a solar plant, you're gonna hire a lot of people.  You run a solar plant, it doesn't take a ton of people to run some of these plants.  Some of these firms don't employ as many people as you might hope.

Video below courtesy of the Rush Limbaugh Show:

On his program yesterday, Limbaugh interpreted Bernstein's remarks as meaning that the jobs haven't materialized due to the large number of bankruptcies of such politically well-connected "green" companies, however, it's actually worse than that.

Even if the companies don't go bankrupt, Bernstein has admitted that they don't employ that many people once operational. That's a pretty stunning admission. And one would think that if anyone at the White House had bothered to do some adequate research before doling out the billions, they would have realized that solar power plants have consistently employed small numbers of employees over their entire history. Why would President Obama have to spend billions of dollars to figure out such a basic concept?

...fornication about 'green' jobs, or any other kind of jobs, for that matter, as creating jobs was not what the "stimulus" was about.

All Obama was after was a slush fund to enable him to get reelected so he can finish his task of screwing this country into the ground once and for all.

That is all his "presidency" has been about from Day One.

I wish, but....

Submitted by jon_torlin on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 4:18pm.

I seriously don't believe it, especially when these things keep happening like we fear it.  As to this government agency, it's the department of agriculture.  Why would they need to be armed like this?  As well as the IRS with the shotguns and so forth?  That is a lot of ammo, and I mean a LOT.

I wish I could agree with you that it couldn't come to pass, but look at the past 3.5 years and all the things, the unconstitutional acts he's committed, and then of course this week wherethe bogus potus threatened the SCOTUS(I don't see how else to take it, otherwise, he should have just kept his trap shut), these are the acts of a dictator.  There's no other way to look at it.

Each month we get closer to the election, and each month he gets bolder and bolder with a spineless Congress to watch from the sidelines and those departments are doing his bidding with very little oversight from Issa who someone apparently cut hit balls off and he's as docile as can be compared to how he was in the beginning when he started doing his hearings.

I wish it were just paranoia.  I keep thinking about history repeating itself instead.

Did anyone see O's speech this a.m.?

Submitted by Blonde on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 12:01pm.

The one about "women's issues"?

I swear, it may be just me, because I've watched so many of his little faux pas (pi? plural, LOL)....but his "tell" that something he thinks is cute and that the audience will like is just jumping off the screen to me.

He did it this morning, too.  He kind of tilts his head, and gives his fake shy smile (Di style, head down, eyes up)....and then he delivers his line(s).  While he's delivering the line(s), he gets a self-satisfied little smirk going, that he just can't control.  Today the first tell was "there are a majority of women in this country"....Followed by "there are a majority of women in my household" (Smirk gets started)...."including my mother-in-law" (Smirk Gets Bigger)..."and I NEVER forget my mother-in-law".  Then the grins like he just realized he said something funny.  Oh yeah, the plants in the audience then react!

I first saw this when he did his little Al Green imitation, and I blogged about it.  Check it out again, and then watch for it as you see him as he campaigns talks about anything & everything.  If you don't see it the first time as you watch that video, watch it again with the sound off (I do this often with both Obamas....for the obvious reason!).

Once you see it clearly, the tell will jump out at you every single time.  Then you can explain it to the liberals of your aquaintance....show them exactly how phony Obama is, our Emperor with No Clothes.

I seriously cannot watch Obama. I had a bad feeling (woman's instinct) the very first time I listened to him. My red alerts were screaming 'fake' and haven't stopped. I really hate his ideology and where he wants to take our country and most of all our culture. I don't trust anything he says and have come to the point where I can't stand the sound of his voice. He is against, or has tried to destroy everything I hold dear. I pray often for his conversion and against the success of his policies. I'm glad NB and you watch and report, because I really don't want to. My hats off to you.

I am just immune to the outrage any more, after coming up with 120 gaffes! It's actually been quite therapeutic.

As I said, try watching him with the sound off....it's even easier to find the little rehearsed moments of spontaneity...if you don't have to listen to him drone.

Make a game out of it, trust me, you'll feel better. Then spread the word. If you can open one closed mind to his fauxniness.....we win!

I couldn't watch or listen to

Submitted by killa37 on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 1:41pm.

I couldn't watch or listen to der Schlickmeister either, once I figured out what a low-life pathalogical liar he was - but he was around for so long that I forced myself to pay attention to him once in a while.

I haven't been able to do that with Boy Baraka, for a number of reasons. We allready know what a phony he is - even compared to Clinton. The guy's whole life has been a LIE, so he is basically a living LIE. But I can't stand his affected style of speaking - I still can't figure out how he came to where he is with that stupid small-town midwestern radio-host accent, except for when he starts tryin' to speak to the 'folks', or his homies back in the ghetto, where he NEVER has been in his entire life.

And his arrogance and condescension, which ARE a part of his DNA, are enough to make me want to kick my TV, and I can't do that - because I just bought a new one!!!

Plus, in reality - I find the guy to be extremely boring and tedious, and torture to listen to.............I have yet to figure out what all the hullabaloo is or was about this drone being some kind of world-class orater. Hell, he can't string together a coherent paragraph if it isn't written for him.

Romney Position

Submitted by djaymick on Fri, 04/06/2012 - 1:39pm.

This is exactly where Romney needs to hit the President. During the whole "green energy debate" most conservative pointed to the data supplied by Spain and their failures on green jobs. The report informs people that 2 jobs are destroyed for every temporary job created. It also can work with the ObamaCare argument, where he will say he was following a GOP idea. But, when the facts are presented and you still plan to go that same path, it shows you the type of idiot or ideologue this President is.
Romney needs to take ownership of RomneyCare, but point out that he never expected the highest insurance premiums in the nation and rationing that happens every year in Massachusetts. He should tell people if he was still governor, he would try to abolish it. However, just because it was passed by a GOP governor doesn't make the facts go away.
