Open Thread: Are Comedians Like Porn Stars?
Well, not all of them, but there's a troubling trend afoot, claims Steven Crowder in his latest video, embedded below the break. Crowder offers the vicious attacks against Trig Palin of late as evidence that comedy has, largely, devolved into a contest over who can best throw decency to the wind and offer the most vile, base "jokes" in the most gutless fashion. I agree fully with your comments. I love a good comedic routine or a witty story... so I am constantly disappointed with the filth and shock-value debasement that we see far too often (almost constant, really) passing as "humor."

But much of it, by the very nature of that genre of humor, will push the envelope of 'acceptable' mockery--which makes lines, already blurred, especially at risk for being crossed. In any event, the line was clearly crossed in this case, and Wonkette seems to be paying a heavy price for it, as it should.

I, too, forgot all about that melanin clause in the hate crimes statutes. As you know, the one that states that hate crimes can only be perpetrated AGAINST those with higher a melanin count.

-We live in a society where the perception and the attitude proclaims: “We are all victim’s. So no one is really guilty.”
-Try to help… get accused of “Rushing to Judgment” and open yourself up to a charge of vigilantism.
-Train, as best we can, our Police… send them out to protect us but then establish policies that prevent them from really stopping the bad guys or otherwise interfere with their basic duties.
-Pass a reasonable law… Get it overturned by a liberal judge.
- Arrest a bad guy… Wait two or three years for their trial… but let ‘em out of jail on their own recognizance or an ‘affordable bail’ based on their personal circumstances.
Convict someone of murder with the death penalty… wait 20 years to fry them… or “commute” the sentence and let them get parol.
-Make sure the people on social programs do not have to take a drug test to get the money.
- Let illegal aliens get the full benefits of social programs… let them stick around for a few years while they await a “deportation hearing” and can whip-out a few more anchor babies or take a citizens job.
- Ignore uncomfortable facts.
- Make sure that “Justice is subservient to Tolerance.”
- Instruct people not to be “judgmental.”
- Tell people they are somehow “special” because they are in a minority and make sure they get to stick-it to majority at every turn.
- Teach the kids to “feel good” about themselves… even when they screw-up big time.
- Institutionalize “self-empowerment” to the point that even a bum get’s the benefits of the works of others.
- Penalize involvement, chastise and ridicule morality and moral principles and traditional marriage, make sure “charity begins with government… not at home,”
- Praise defeatism, abortion, cowardice, sexual deviancy, paganism, etc. everyday.
- And for goodness sakes… never allow the slightest hint of the Judeo-Christian philosophy to enter into the debate.

I am sorry but had I been the manager, those women would have been laid out on the floor in a nice neat row when the police arrived. One warning to stop and move on or I was simply protecting the life of the "victim" in all true good faith. If the court didn't see it that way then so be it, it would be worth going to jail over. Here is a simple plan, prosecute each of the women for attempted murder, all of the bystanders for whatever you can possibly charge them with. The victim should at a minimum be the proud owner of a new McDonald's franchise, and do an ad campaign that gives people permission to get involved and take action, and if they don't they can be charged too. In the upper midwest it is illegal to pass someone by on the road during a snow storm, same principle.

Week before last Aunt Esther, Jill Bite Me and Martha "inmate # 9876450, Stewart came to Camp Lejeune, pronounced Le-Jurn, to host a baby shower for 40 wives of Marines and sailors who were expecting. You would have thought that these were wives of enlisted men. They weren't. My daughter informed me this AM they were all officer's wives. The ones that didn't really need the gifts that the 3 amigos passed out. As most of you are aware, the enlisted men and woman are, especially those that are not non coms, are struggling.
Remember 23 month old Evan Salenro. He was critically injured when a tornado swept through Tarawa Terrace and down Piney Green Road in Jacksonville last Saturday evening. The Navy will relocate the ones that lost housing on the base but they have yet to say what they will do for the Marines and sailors that lost their houses on Piney Green Rd

There is very little evidence of it being true. It was an assertion by the kid who took the video who has since been deleting his Facebook and other accounts. That claim--as well as his claim about the seizure having stopped before the police arrived--is flatly contradicted by the police report.
And the victim in the video clearly has the physical characteristics of a famale There may be some possiblity of a hormonally-treated transgendered former male [very unlikely], but cross-dressing male? I'm not going to say it's an impossibility, but it's highly improbable.

Such laws really serve no useful purpose. If there are studies which show they have a deterrent effect, I haven't seen them--and would be skeptical of the methodology anyway.
The accusation and additional charge itself acts to inflame while injecting far too much subjectivity and passion into what should be a "just the facts, ma'am" procedure.

Such laws, even if they were to have a deterrent effect, are, IMO, dangerous, as they seek to criminalize sociopolitical motives, which is an infringement on the essence of "liberty": The freedom of thought (even if they are evil thoughts). It is difficult enough as it is sometimes to establish guilt in a crime based upon tangible evidence. To somehow establish guilt on the motive, in addition to the act, is, well, a bit Orwellian to me.

A video has appeared on Worldstarhipop.com of four teenagers beating up another teenager to the point that she eventually suffered an alleged seizure in a McDonald’s.
The video shows the manager and employees of the McDonald’s trying to stop the fight, but the group of girls continued pounding on the teenager.
The girl began twitching on the floor a few minutes after the girls left the McDonald’s.
1) I actually counted two possibly three.
2) Alleged?? Huh?
3) The employees tried to stop it? Where? I know one of them snagged her cell phone that fell from her purse.
4) THAT was twitching? Unbelievable

Reminds me of a time when the wife and I were in N.O. , I attempted to break up a fight between 2 black "ladies". I was suddenly assaulted from behind only to feel a body collapse behind me. Turns out my 3rd degree Shotokon 115lbs wife had knocked out the assailant, and had cleared the way for our victim to receive the treatment and the evacuation she needed.
We Believe in self defense. My Son, 17yrs old just qualified for his concealed weapon. This incident has convinced us, we all need protection
