Bozell Tackles Media Bias in Wis. Protest Coverage, Slams Media for Ignoring Docs Handing Out Fraudulent Sick Notes
"The mainstream media was late to the party when it came to covering" the Wisconsin budget protests, Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney noted as he introduced NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell earlier today on the February 21 edition of "Varney & Co."
But are the media now skewing coverage in favor of the perspective of the public sector labor unions, Varney asked.
Most certainly they are, Media Research Center founder Bozell answered.

"You've got Christiane Amanpour trying to liken [union protesters] to freedom marchers in Egypt. You've got the same media that condemned forever Sarah Palin for having that cross hairs on her website, that same media have the opportunity to show the actual video of these marchers in Wisconsin with cross hairs on the governor's face, and nobody's covering that," Bozell complained.
What's worse, the media have ignored or excused doctors who are handing out sick notes like candy to protesters, Bozell noted. "[N]obody's covering that because, Stuart, it goes against the narrative. The narrative is that these are noble people doing noble things when in fact they are lying and doctors are committing fraud."
A transcript of portions of the interview follows. You can watch the entire segment by clicking the play button on the embed above:
STUART VARNEY, host of FBN's "Varney & Co.": How did the mainstream media cover this fake sick-out by 1,000 teachers and these fake sick notes issued by doctors over the weekend. How did the mainstream media cover that angle of the story?
BRENT BOZELL: Stuart, let me ask you a question. How do you think the media would cover the story if doctors were giving fake medical excuses for Tea Party people to leave work and march in a Tea Party protest?
VARNEY: Headline in the New York Times. Yes.
BOZELL: They'd be leading the news, every network would be leading it in the evening, calling for investigations of the doctors. In fact this is what's happening in Wisconsin. The only thing I've seen, I may have something wrong here, the only thing I've seen is CNN, and CNN is acting like it's a noble thing that they're doing, that doctors are also sacrificing on behalf of the workers by possibly getting themselves into trouble.
No, this is fraud. And it's something that should be newsworthy. Stuart, the whole coverage of this is fraudulent on the part of the press. You've got Christiane Amanpour trying to liken them to freedom marchers in Egypt. You've got the same media that condemned forever Sarah Palin for having that cross hairs on her website, that same media have the opportunity to show the actual video of these marchers in Wisconsin with cross hairs on the governor's face, and nobody's covering that.
VARNEY: If you wanted to cover the other side of the coin, which is, perhaps, the people, the taxpayers of Wisconsin who've got to pay for this stuff. If you wanted to cover that side of it, how would Brent Bozell do it?
BOZELL: Well, taxpayers aren't victims [to the liberal media] that's why you don't cover them. No, what you do is you simply look at the reality of the situation... the state is going bankrupt and it is either this or nothing for the unions, because there is no money. And the taxpayers are being asked... the people who are being asked to pay for these pension plans for the unions, and you ask the taxpayer their opinion, and what you would get uniformly, I expect, for the evening news is the public being outraged at these unions that are bankrupting their state.
[...]
VARNEY: Have you seen anybody pick up on Fox's story about the doctors handing out sick notes to anybody and everybody in Madison over the weekend? Has anybody else covered that that you've seen?
BOZELL: No, I haven't. I've seen CNN mention it and just be dismissive of that's interesting, but they haven't gone any further than that. No, nobody's covering that because, Stuart, it goes against the narrative. The narrative is that these are noble people doing noble things when in fact they are lying and doctors are committing fraud.

Look at it this way, we know that the MSM has such a dismal ratings compared to Fox News, which has the largest viewership. That means a lot more people are seeing this stuff about the doctors' handing out fake notes.
The bottom line is that the teachers are doing the wrong thing and so are the democrat senators who fled the coop to another state on the taxpayers' dimes.
There must be consequences for their actions and I don't mean a slap on the wrist.

The Dems that fled the state
Submitted by Beukeboom on Mon, 02/21/2011 - 2:17pm.
The Dems that fled the state should be charged with dereliction of duty (and if no law like that exists in Wisconsin then it should) and recalled.
The doctors should be charged with fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud. Maybe RICO.
The teachers should be fired like Reagan fired air traffic controllers.
And the Unions involved need to be investigated.
But of course none of that is going to happen because too many people lack the cajones to actually do so and many of those in position to do these things are in bed with the cowards and protesters and doctors in Wisconsin.

Hear! Hear! And it always amazes me how "teachers" can stop what they're doing at the drop of a hat. They can run to some left-wing rally or establish some left-wing assembly in a school, without regard for their curriculum or their students. It just goes to show what is really going on in classrooms across the country---not much, I'm afraid.
BTW---I once had a couple of teacher acquaintances who used to joke about their "jobs". One told me he took his check "with a mask and a gun". The other, a guidance counsellor, told me he made as much as Don Mattingly --- since he worked only one day a year. BTW, Both were big "liberals". Sad.

Gee..where were these
Submitted by Beukeboom on Mon, 02/21/2011 - 2:46pm.
Gee..where were these high-paying teaching jobs when I graduated from college? For one year I taught math in Georgia and then Florida, got paid very little and did more work at home grading papers, updating curriculum and schedules and a lot of other stuff, plus having all sorts of school functions I had to attend. 40-hour work weeks NEVER occurred. I would not have had time to strike.
Reasons I got out of teaching? There are too many horror stories to tell here. Suffice to say the breaking point for me was when a 14-year-old pulled a knife on me and the school superintendant (who was more worried about being re-elected) did nothing.
There isn't enough money, gold, silver, platinum, gems, stocks, bonds, land, et al to get me back into the education field.
You got out too early
Submitted by ArcherB on Mon, 02/21/2011 - 3:17pm.
See, that's how these union jobs work. They start you out low, keep you around for years, and then pay you more than your worth.
I remember when I lived in Michigan. Many of the jobs there were for the auto industry, of course. I looked into those jobs. Most started out very low, maybe $10/hr. But if you did the same job for 10 years, you'd be doing pretty well. If you did the same job for 20 years, you'd be doing extremely well and ready for your pension. Now, imagine standing on a line, attaching the hood to a Gran Am over and over and over for 8 hrs a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year for 20 years!!!! No wonder these union people are nuts! But that's half the point. There is no incentive to get promoted or change jobs because you are paid for your time in service, not how well you do you job or how motivated you are to improve yourself. So people stay in the same job, doing the same thing for years and get paid more for the longer they do it, regardless of how well they do. Someone who has been attaching hoods to cars for 20 years may be able to do the same job as the 18-yr old just starting. It doesn't matter that the 18-yr old can do the job just as well or better than the guy whose been doing it for years, the veteran will make 60k/yr with awesome benefits while the 18-yr old will make 20k/yr and almost no benefits.

The "systems"

Right, that's the union system. On the other hand, I have a few Wall Street "workers" in my family who look at the big board all day long, don't ever work an eight-hour day, and average about $600,000 /yr. One of them is 83 years old. He makes millions and lives in a mansion.

I work on "Wall Street" myself (and have since 1995) and cannot remember the last time I did not put in a 60 hour plus work-week.
Ask yourself...how long and hard did this supposed 83-year old toil to get to the point (s)he is now at? Are you 84 and thus know? If not, I do not believe you are in a position to judge.
In my best year, I made over $600K. Since the financial crash of late '07-early '09, I am averaging about $100K. Big difference, and I work the same, if not more, hours than I did then.
I can point out jobs in all professions where there are people hardly working and making the big bucks. College professor....politically connected community organizer...baseball player...need I go on?

There are certainly those on Wall Street who be doing what you say, but there are many others who aren't living in mansions. Also, some of those wealthy people have earned that money by their ability to pick stocks, getting both in and out at the correct time.
My father made a lot of money on stocks before his death, but it required work and discipline, not to mention risk. Risk is something unions don't have to deal with.
I can tell you now...

they make more than any $10/hr starting out... I deal directly with the Big 3 as a supplier and I know how they work. Our HR manager is incharge of 6 other plants dealing also directly with Detroit and their contracts came up in the last couple of years. Those people there make almost twice what I do and have worked half the years.
It's the reason our country is bankrupt. Unions are killing us! Bleeding the taxpayers dry. We are not Union here, was back in the 70's and got it out and never looked back.
My 2 cents

Thi story will flare when someone FOIA challenges sicktime payed out on these doctors notes. I know HIPPA comes into play here, but so too does the right to know where taxpayers' dollars are spent. 9-12ers and TEA party groups have been active at the school board level and I predict this issue will be a target of these groups.
The MSM is making a big mistake ignoring this story. They will again be shown that Citizens will do their job for them - because the MSM isn't doing it.

Teachers...
Submitted by uhohshortsonthe... on Tue, 02/22/2011 - 7:34am.
I saw a lot of good ones when I was a kid-and we moved around quite a lot. I also saw a lot of crappy ones as well-lazy, overly opinionated, hostile to change. The one thing I remember about teachers then was: the older, tenured teachers were sure more likely to take sick days at the drop of a hat. And, then (in the 70s-80s) competency testing for teachers was met with fierce resistance from the teachers' unions. It's almost as if they were afraid of something there. One school I went to in south Louisiana had people with incomplete or nonexistant degrees teaching 7th and 8th graders.

One thing in MSM that I think is glaring to me, why don't they ask the people of Wisconsin what they think of what the gonenor is doing? The MSM focus on less than 300,000 people are doing and ignore the millions of other people in Wisconsin. Don't they have a voice in this? I guess not, according to the MSM.

What nothing about Walker being the Koch brothers play toy, how he is raiding the state coffers for his corporate clients (no bid power plant sales), or the $46 million he is costing the state in his union busting gambit? Brent Bozo does a great job of carrying water for his corporate bosses all under the guise of protecting the masses.
Talk about being busted. Walker is up to his chinstraps as he is caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Actually if you had bothered to listen to the 20 minute conversation (instead of just accept right wing talking points) there was quite bit of new information. Willingness to insert plants in the protest crowd, plans to trick Dems into the room for discussion and then hold a vote, accepting a trip to California to celebrate union busting on Koch's dime, junior high style bantor about his conservative street cred, not to mention the eagerness to which he spent 20 full minutes playing up to his benefactor when he won't give his own employees 2 minutes of his time. This guy is crooked to the core but some people have to much vested in this outcome to recognize it.

An expression (sentence) has cognitive (or theoretical, assertive) meaning, if it asserts something and hence is either true or false. In this case, it is called a cognitive sentence or (cognitive, genuine) statement; it has usually the form of a declarative sentence. If an expression (a sentence) has cognitive meaning, its truth-value (q. v.) depends in general upon both

Your consistent use of incomplete sentences and poor grammar make it difficult to decipher your meaning.
