NewsBusters Publisher Bozell Discusses Biased Reporting of Egypt Protests on 'Fox & Friends'

By NB Staff | February 04, 2011 | 19:02

A  A

Overall the coverage of the ongoing protests against Hosni Mubarak in Egypt has been pretty good, but it's when journalists get around to offering their analysis that bias has crept in, NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell told Fox News's Steve Doocy on the February 4 "Fox & Friends."

Case in point, MSNBC's Chris Matthews comparing the Muslim Brotherhood with the Tea Party movement.

"Mr. Bozell, he's shameless, isn't he?" Doocy asked.

Matthews is a pathetic parody of himself at this point, Bozell noted, arguing that the former Jimmy Carter staffer uses every opportunity he can to trash conservatives from his perch at MSNBC.

Bozell also reacted to journalists like NBC's Richard Engel benignly painting the Muslim Brotherhood as "nice people."

"This is a group that supports Osama bin Laden. This is a group that is agitating for Egypt to go to war next month with Israel," Bozell noted.

Journalists who fail to report their radical inclinations are "useful idiots," the Media Research Center founder argued.

The pale* must be getting heavy

How much longer can even MSNBC carry water for this administration? Can Chris Matthews continue to march lockstep with Mr. Obama's policies while this nation continues on this path of high unemployment, selling "green jobs" that might in a good month add .001 % to the work force? Seriously, how can this nation create only 34,000 jobs last month and see unemployment drop to 9.0??? Does this administration think the public is that stupid? Is Chris Matthews that stupid?

Mr. Bozell's comparison with the meteor hitting us and the Matthews' mentality of who's to blame is priceless.

I hate to say it but I

Submitted by Firmworm on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 10:18pm.

I hate to say it but I watched NBC evening news with Brian Williams suddenly reporting from the safety of the New York studio and could not believe what I saw and heard. They had several segments from different reporters claiming the pro Mubarak protesters were a bunch of thugs and they were the ones attacking reporters and crew. In one segment they interviewed some producer in a hotel room who said that as they were walking through the crowds if they ran into a pro Mubarak group that they would be threatened because of, and I kid you not, their 'perceived bias'. Perceived my ass! It is so blatant it makes me sick.

You got it right my friend, this is nothing more than another administration that is going to use every dirty trick in the book to get their way, legal or not. Look, the bottom line is that we the people are in a war, and liberals, progressives, marxists, etc. etc. are the enemy. What's going on in the mid east can happen here. All it will take is for us to do nothing again. We must forever be diligent of who we send to DC in our stead.

It explains why Obama is making bad calls. He watches CNN and Al Jazeera Network.

Who Does The MSM Serve?

Submitted by Boil It Down on Sat, 02/05/2011 - 4:16am.

How does it serve the public to steer them away from the warnigs the Muslim Brotherhood has given us themselves? Do they think soft peddling the Brotherhood's real intentions will make everyone play nicey-nice with one another? Please tell me they aren't naive. Passing on only the misdirection that the Brotherhood's leadership has given to the MSM has no semblance of journalism. When I can do a little digging around to find the videos and articles with the statements of these radicals it makes those on CNN & MSNBC look pretty foolish. More importantly it does not help protect the public, which is one of the main responsibilities of the press.

The average person should be able to trust any news outlet to present thoroughly researched new stories without bias. Tragically, we are made to search the web in order to get a complete view of what's going on in the world. The average person doesn't have the time, energy or inclination to keep abreast of the news. Of course those who wish to slant the news can make it sound plausible to those who can't or won't look any further.

"Bad calls" or intentionally inflaming?

Submitted by TexasMom0517 on Sat, 02/05/2011 - 9:16am.

It will be decades, if not a century, before the truth of Obama's actions are known. I think his "bad calls" are intentional. He has inflamed the situation in the Middle East from the beginning of his reign and disrupted our relationships with our allies worldwide. It is not by accident that he takes the actions he does.

It comical

Submitted by hayate1 on Sat, 02/05/2011 - 4:37pm.

to see Fox News types decry the statements and claims made on CNBC as radical and whatever for 2 reasons.  1-Fox is off the hook when it comes to radical, unquestionably biased commentary.  not to mention shallow and sometimes inaccurate.  2-Fox is the one who started this type of 'journalism' in the first place.  The others are returning it in kind.

Why waste time attacking CNBC?  If you want to make the media discussion more objective then better take a look in the mirror and start there.

Your statement about Fox news commentary applies to the commentary shows, but not the news reporting.  Where on MSNBC or even CNN can you find unbiased reporting?  ALL their programming is biased commentary.
