'Media Mash': Egypt Protest Edition

By NB Staff | February 04, 2011 | 11:57

A  A

"These reporters are going to eat their words in a big way,"  NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell predicted on last night's "Hannity" regarding the mainstream media personalities who have credited President Obama with the popular uprising against dictator Hosni Mubarak in Egypt:

What happens when the government crumbles? What happens when this country is reduced to utter anarchy? What happens when the killings begin and the death begins? Are they still going to credit Barack Obama's soaring oratory for that, or are they going to separate them? What happens if an Islamic caliphate takes over? Are they going to credit his soaring oratory at that point? No they won't.

Indeed, Fox News host Sean Hannity noted during the February 3 "Media Mash" segment, the media have glossed over the radicalism of the Islamic Brotherhood, portraying the Islamist movement as a benign force for democratic reform, not as an extremist group that would impose sharia law in Egypt.

"Sean, it's embarrassing, isn't it?" Bozell reacted to a montage of reporters praising the Muslim Brotherhood. Reporters like NBC's Richard Engel  "are useful idiots" when it comes to the threat of radical Islam taking the helm of the Egyptian ship of state:

HANNITY: There's a very good chance that the radicals get in charge of Egypt now, and I wonder how these people making these proclamations will feel if in fact that very real danger becomes a reality.

BOZELL: Easy. They'll blame it on Bush.

Not sure how it'll play out in the White House, but this is one thought.

I like it.

Makes one ask if the expression on Obama's face is an edgy satisfaction with events so far, or maybe just a contemplation of how far he has yet to go.

The Egyptians

just finished translating Pr Obama's speech from 2 years ago, about a month a go and that is why this is happening. It has nothing to do with rising food prices worldwide.

After all this time,

Submitted by Ashrak on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 1:21pm.

Those so doubting that an Islamic caliphate is the goal should actually, for once, read Bin Laden's 1996 and 1998 fatwas. They might actually learn something if they did.

It may be 10, 15 or even 20 years late, but better late than never. It is time for the American people, especially those in media, to takea good hard look at things. They need to see that Bill Clinton's "containment" policy had everything and then som to do with 9-11. That Iraq had everything and then some to do with it and Binny boy was very clear about that years andyears before the attacks of that day took place.

Readers would learn that Sharia law is as real as it is brutal and that imposing it upon the entire planet, on every man, woman and child, is indeed part of the stated goals openly espoused by the enemy we fight this day. If they open their eyes they will see the source of it all as the enemy touts it openly.

As ugly and not politically correct as it is, the source is the Koran itself. Islam. Submission. Slavery.

No more should it be hidden. No more should it be avoided. No more should it be pretended. It is what it is and the time to accept it for what it is is now. Denial serves nothing but the enemy of freedom.

Folks who take the time to read Bin Laden's fatwas will see why, in part, some accuse Obama of being Muslim. These Bin Laden diatribes read quite a bit like an Obama campaign stump speech. The similarities are striking when read with an open mind. Social justice, one world government, the educated elite deciding for everyone else what is best and allowed and what is not and prohibited, it is all there in Binny's own words. The same mindset is found in Obama's words and actions.

Might the Muslim Brotherhood come out from under its rock in Egypt? Sure. That is a good thing. One must be able to correctly identify the barbaric enemy in order to destroy them in search of self preservation and defense.

All my life I have heard about the "mighty arab street" and how it will "rise up". Well, let's see it then. Do it. Progressives talk about "endless war" as a means of justifying not fighting back, as a reason to submit. Please realize, it is they who truly fear the Muslim Brotherhood being out in the open as leadership. Those who understand what it really is don't want it in power but sometimes make mistake in trying to keep it out of power.

Seeing it out in the open kills a great deal of debate about their real goals. See Hamas in Gaza.  Hamas rising to political power has facilitated the entire world seeing just exactly what Hamas is all about. A reading of its covenent goes a long way toward undertanding just like Binny's fatwas. Read them, absorb them, share them and realize the true nature of what is at stake.

That an individual right exists requires that some policy positions be removed from the table of debate.

what happens....

Submitted by jon_torlin on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 2:33pm.

When I saw the questions in the inset paragraph "what happens when government crumbles" and "what happens when this country is reduced to utter anarchy," I thought those were rhetorical questions that could apply to the US.  It happened to Greece already.

I love Brent....

but surely he knows that the lamebrain media has invested everything in this marxist moron and they can't allow him to fail, so expect spin, lies, distortions, fraud, and every last drop of deceit in their commie bodies.  There is going to be a 2nd Civil War in this country pitting those of us who love America, value our freedom and liberty, and defend the Constitution versus leftists of all stripes;  DemonRats, union thugs, illegals, Jews, environmentalist-wackos, anarchists, abortionists, anti-military useful idiots, and last, but certainly not least, islamic supporters, activists and terrorists.  Since these groups are all sub-human I like our odds.

American Jews Vote 85% for DemonRats.

Submitted by BBallleaper on Fri, 02/04/2011 - 7:46pm.

I'm not bashing anyone.  Just stating a fact.  When Jews start voting for freedom and liberty instead of socialism and communism I'll gladly drop them as a constituent group of the DemonRats.  They are no different than blacks who vote 96% for DemonRats.  They are simply a voting block helping to destroy this country.  The amazing thing is that there are many Jews in America who are anti-Israel.  There are several new books as well as published papers out attempting to figure out why American Jews vote and act this way.  I'm just pointing it out.  I welcome all Jews and everyone else to join Conservative thought, ideals and to help us stop the destruction of this country.  You, my friend, are attempting to read a little too much into a minor comment, not to mention you're a little touchy!!  Snow got you down????????????????
