Video: MRC's Bozell Addresses Left's History of Politicizing Tragedies
Jared Loughner was in no way a conservative or inspired by alleged conservative talk show "hate," yet the media have been quick to blame conservative talk radio and Sarah Palin for his assassination attempt on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Arizona), all in an effort to delegitimize and demonize the conservative movement.
This stands in stark contrast to how the media have been silent on the real political motivations of crazed left-wingers, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell noted on the January 11 "700 Club."
"What about the shooter at the Discovery Channel last year.... He said that he had been inspired by Al Gore," Bozell reminded viewers.
"There's an awful lot of intellectual dishonesty taking place" in the liberal media, Bozell argued, pointing out that while the media have reported the federal judge killed in the Saturday shooting spree was "at the wrong place at the wrong time" and in no way Loughner's target, the New York Times editorial page claims that "there was all sorts of hate mail aimed at the judge and this is an example of why you have to control talk radio."
Bozell also reminded host Gordon Robertson that the media are just being true-to-form with earlier instances of blaming conservatives for political violence or terrorism such as the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

I swear I heard this somewhere

Within 48 hours of the shooting the Tea Party had already massed mailed their supporters in an effort to politicize the shootings as an attack against conservatives, while asking for donation funds to counter the attacks. Independent Bernie Sanders sent a fund raising letter in the name of the Tuscon shootings as well.
From afar I feel that anyone and everyone in politics is hoping for political gain from this tragedy. Whether it's fundraising or passing a new arms law, the lawmakers are giddy with misfortune.
I can guess where this nonsense came from...

Liberal politicians, pundits, bloggers, and the press...Take your pick. Well, let me reassure you...I am a member of the two largest Tea Party organizations, and I get mail from them just about every day, and I have yet to receive anything like what you are talking about...Nothing. So, take what you hear "somewhere" with a really big grain of salt when it concerns the Tea Party movement. There are those out there who do nothing but conjure up lies and misrepresentations about it every day, so beware.
As for Bernie Sanders and his fund raising letter, we know that to be the truth...All media outlets have reported and verified it...So, there you go.

None of the above

I don't know which media outlets are considered liberal, but Yahoo has this story published with a transcript of the fund raising letter your Tea Party sent to supporters. A sample:
"We have nothing to do with this awful, tragic event in Arizona. Our prayers are with Congresswoman Giffords and the victims and families of this massacre.
But we will still fight just as passionately for this country we love, and the vision of our Founding Fathers as outlined by the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.
We’re taking our country back through the ballot box and in the public square – through peaceful means. And we will prevail, because our ideas and ideals are stronger than the scare/smear/defame tactics of the leftists we face.
We ask you to please stand with the Tea Party Express and show your support for our efforts.

Now perhaps I'm reading into this too much, but it sure sounds like a fund raising attempt in the name of Tuscon.
Excellent Brent ... America needs to hear more like that!

Honest talk like that during the "news" or "talk news" would do wonders for our Country. An amazing 19% (I think it was) of REPs thought the violence was associated with "vitriol" talk. That is REPUBLICANS getting brain washed by the media. We need that 19% back plus the Dems. SPEAK out with the truth whenever you can! Don't let the LSM ruin our REPUBLIC!

Within TEN MINUTES of the shooting, lefty news anchors and bloggers were blaming the tea party and talk radio for this senseless tragedy. Anything the tea party did within 48 hours was not to take advantage of the situation, but to raise money to defend it's members from being slandered and libeled with baseless smears. Had the "news" media been as unbiased as they claim to be, the tea party would not have made a peep, other than to condemn the real perpetrator of this heinous crime. The left-wing has gone completely insane and anyone who disagrees is either blind, stupid or intellectually dishonest...or an insane leftist tool.
If that asteroid we keep

If that asteroid we keep hearing about finally collides with the earth, we know who will get the blame: the Tea Party, talk radio and, eventually GWB.
Chrisy Matthews was setting this up for months

Long ago, with the Tea Party and with Palin and others, that if something happened (ever) that the Republicans would have blood on their hands.
I am surprised that nobody has posted some clips of this....of course I have not dug it up either...but memory does serve

God Bless Mr Bozell. Makes me a little more comfortable there is somebody keeping track of all this left-wing bias. I don't have the stomach for it anymore.
