Your Picks for Worst Media Bias Quotes of 2010 Unveiled

By NB Staff | December 17, 2010 | 13:00

A  A

More than 8,000 participated in the public online voting for the Best Notable Quotables of 2010 (8,403 to be exact), weighing the idiocy and outrageousness of dozens of quotes from liberal reporters and celebrities. We posted the results a few hours ago.

You can see which ones won and how many votes each quote earned by visiting: http://mrc.org/notablequotables/bestof/2010/publicballot/

For example, for "The Audacity of Dopes Award for the Wackiest Analysis of the Year," 1,691 of you picked none other than MSNBC's Chris Matthews (video after page break):

“You know, I was trying to think about who he was tonight, and it’s interesting: He is post-racial by all appearances. You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour.” — MSNBC’s Chris Matthews during live coverage following the State of the Union address, January 27.

If you didn't vote, you can still see the worst media quotes in 15 categories, most with matching video clips. Amongst the award categories:

– The Poison Tea Pot Award for Smearing the Anti-Obama Rabble
– No Wonder It Sold For $1 Award for Newsweek's Priceless Bias
– Dumb and Dumber Award for Matthews and Olbermann's Leftist Blatherings
– Obama's Orderlies Award for Prepping America for ObamaCare
– The Crush Rush Award for Loathing Limbaugh

This online public ballot matched the one distributed to our 46 official judges — media experts including columnists, magazine editors, editorial writers and talk radio hosts — who are picking the official winners, as they have for 23 years.

Those official results will be released on the morning of Monday, December 20.

Thanks to Brad Ash for creating and posting the online ballot based on video clips and images provided by Michelle Humphrey and Alex Fitzsimmons.

Well, I still like my choices best

Submitted by Blonde on Fri, 12/17/2010 - 1:30pm.

What dolts these media talking heads are.

Chrissy has to be the head dolt.  He won so many categories, and of course, the "thrill up his leg" comment was bias gold.

We racists

Submitted by GW on Fri, 12/17/2010 - 2:38pm.

...forgot that we were supposed to care if he was black or white or red or green or purple or cylon.

Instead, we judged his ideas and policies.

“Instead, we judged his ideas and policies.”

Guilty as charged.

If you fail to worship him, you’re racist.

Time to Enshrine . . .

Submitted by OzarkGuru on Fri, 12/17/2010 - 2:47pm.

some of the repeated winners.  Let's place them in a Worst Media Bias Hall of Fame  and move on to recognizing the lesser deadbeat biased reporters who are impacting America with their idiotc viewpoints.

Many of these repeat winners are probably encouraged by the attention they receive from right minded people because there are more of us than they have listening to them.  Somehow we are encouraging their lunacy verses just mocking their stupidity.  Enshrine them and ignore them except in blogs etc.

Of course, this is just one new media bloggers opinion who has more readers than many of these biased leftist media types have listening to them.  :)

Tingles wins again

Submitted by Scottyb4292 on Fri, 12/17/2010 - 7:23pm.

It's hard to beat Tingles at saying dumb stuff. But he's got some pretty good competition in today's lamestream media. The mind swims in absurd statements from Ed Schultz and Olby and Baba Wawa and Goldie and Diane Sawyer and (gasp)(pant pant) oh there is just so much competition coming from so many morons in the media.

Tingles is the belle of the ball. Give it to him. He always works hard for it as is evidenced by the spittle on his chin.

This is NOT thrilling

Submitted by needle on Sat, 12/18/2010 - 12:56am.

I imagine Chris Matthews resents Keith Olbermann getting first place in category 8.

When Keith Olbermann gets first place for being obnoxious, it must be truly insufferable for his colleagues just to be around him.

- Looking forward to the self-annihilation of the Manipulated Stories Machine.

Is Barack Obama the Messiah?

Submitted by Retired Geek on Sat, 12/18/2010 - 1:26am.

Barack Obama is a 'Ticking Time Bomb' of Narcissistic rage, ready to unleash the True Barack Obama.

Barack Obama 'Truly Believes' that he is 'The One' the World was waiting for, 'The One' who would begin Healing the Planet and stop the Oceans from rising, provide jobs to the jobless.

Barack Obama believes the Only Thing stopping him are those who simply do not recognize and acknowledge his magnificence - they stand in the way of the Barack Obama redemption.

How a lunatic can actually believe such madness about themselves is perplexing - how millions believe the madness along with him - is insanity in its purest form.

Louis Farrakhan was the first to state that Barack Obama was the 'Messiah', other crackpots immediately began following suit.

"...Barack Obama isn't really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway.
...A Lightworker -- An Attuned Being with Powerful Luminosity and High-Vibration Integrity who will actually help usher in a New Way of Being"
Mark Morford
San Francisco Chronicle

"Many even see in Obama a messiah-like figure, a great soul, and some affectionately call him Mahatma Obama."
Dinesh Sharma

"He is not operating on the same plane as ordinary politicians. . . . the agent of transformation in an age of revolution, as a figure uniquely qualified to open the door to the 21st century."
Gary Hart

"This is bigger than Kennedy. . . . This is the New Testament." | "I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often. No, seriously. It's a dramatic event."
Chris Matthews

Tingles sees color

Submitted by Jerry Mack on Sat, 12/18/2010 - 3:37pm.

You know, I was trying to think about who he was tonight, and it’s interesting: He is post-racial by all appearances. You know, I forgot he was black tonight for an hour.”

By admiting that he forgot that The Messiah was black says that he first judges a person by their skin color. Question for Tingles: "Do you think that he would be a better man or President if he were white?" Imagine if BOR or Rush had said  this!
