'Media Mash': Post-Election Edition

By NB Staff | November 05, 2010 | 11:25

A  A

The historic "shellacking" that Democrats suffered on Tuesday night brought out the worst in Obama's acolytes in the mainstream media, giving NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell plenty to talk about on Sean Hannity's eponymous November 4 program.

Appearing via satellite for the popular recurring "Media Mash" segment, Bozell and Hannity first tackled who else but Chris Matthews. Clearly frustrated with the 2010 midterms and anticipating the 2012 presidential race, Matthews all but called former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) an illiterate.

"Would she look like an imbecile" on "Jeopardy!", Matthews asked Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska) Tuesday night during live election coverage on MSNBC.

"Have you ever been an eyewitness to her reading something. No, I'm dead serious about this," the "Hardball" host asked over Begich's laughter:

SEAN HANNITY: It's beyond silly now, it's like an obsession. Your reaction?

BRENT BOZELL: Even by MSNBC standards, the election night coverage on that network was beyond atrocious and beyond despicable. It's wasn't just that, Sean, it was [Rep.] Michele Bachmann and the way he insulted her. They were so insulting in their comments, so sophomoric, so childish, that I've got to wonder what Tom Brokaw and the executives at NBC are thinking? How much longer are they going to allow this to continue?

By the way, Sarah Palin, in House races, she won 66 percent of the ones she endorsed, 60 percent of Senate races, and when you consider virtually all of them are challengers, those are world records.

Hannity and Bozell also discussed the media's meme that the midterm elections were simply about anger:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

BOZELL: Sean, you and I could set our watches by this, and you knew it was coming. First of all the anger stuff, that comes up every time Republicans win. Remember Peter Jennings... in 1994 he said America can't be governed by an angry 2-year-old, that's how he described the electorate -- he apologized for that later -- it's the same thing going on. "Those idiots out there, how dare they have done this to us." The idea of compromise. Have you ever heard them say this to Democrats when they win?

When they win it's hope, it's change, it's a new tomorrow. It's, you know, out with the old, in with the new.  With Republicans, it's immediately, "now, when are you going to compromise?".... You'll never hear that said about Democrats.

Let them whine.

Submitted by NeoKong on Fri, 11/05/2010 - 11:48am.

They have been on a two year organized media campaign to smear Republicans and Tea Partiers and where did it get them.....?    The DNC's super huge majorites lie in the dustbin of history.   Coincidence ?   I think not.   If the White House and the DNC and all things leftie choose to make MSNBC their defacto media mouthpiece then I say keep up the good work.   It gives us something to laugh at as the new Republican majority takes over the House.

The "elites"

Submitted by iveseenitall on Fri, 11/05/2010 - 12:56pm.

As they have their temper tantrums, the so-called media "elites" are being shown for what they are---ignorant, immature adolescents in adult bodies. The curtain is being pulled back and they can't stand it. One of the worst things you can do to  "liberals" is  expose their ignorance and hypocrisy. When backed into a corner by the truth, they revert to the only thing they have-- sophomoric giggling and personal attacks. Matthews, Olbermann, Press, Maher, Behar---on and on it goes. Like high school cliques, they "think" they are better, while most eveyone else simply ignores ( and laughs at ) them.

P.S. What a shame that we've had to suffer these fools for so long. As have our "educators" and politicians, the media "elites" have squandered the opportunity to uplift the nation and instead have continued to drag it into the pit of the cruel ignorance and political correctness which will be our ultimate downfall. How sad for this once-great nation.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Can't agree more, but I'm tired of ignoring these cork shockers.  They need to get off the ladies' backs and get back on Barney Frank's back, which is more their style, and his.

So I'm putting the bar fight offer back on the table, all very friendly of course.  Wouldn't want this to be interpreted as a threat or anything.  It will all be in fun, just like the school playground!  The losers will buy afterward of course.

I can round up my Happy Hour buddies, and a few others who want in for our team, and Prissy Crissy and Special Ed can bring any of the panty waists on their network they want, with the exception of Maddow.

We are all old, crippled, mostly vets who want to give these young "men" a chance to work off some of their testosterone on us and not have to keep bashing ladies who can't hit back.  I've even had a few people on this site want to volunteer to let them beat us up!

So bring it on, Special Ed.  I heard you say recently that Obama should be smashing somebody in the mouth.  How 'bout you, lard ass?  You want to win a free beer?

The on-air "talent" (and I

Submitted by Beukeboom on Fri, 11/05/2010 - 1:19pm.

The on-air "talent" (and I use that term EXTREMELY loosely) on MSNBC revealed their true vitriolic selves fully and for all the world to see. I've read some liberal blogs and even liberals found their nonsense and unprofessionalism to be objectionable and offensive. From from I read from liberals, that night of election coverage has cost them more viewers. The Comcast takeover can't happen soon enough.

   I don't know if it's

Submitted by MidAmerica on Fri, 11/05/2010 - 1:56pm.

I don't know if it's really sunk into the Lefties yet but it wasn't the Republicans or Sarah who beat them  What happened was historic.  The governing policies of the democrat Left were rejected.  America doesn't want them.  All the Republicans had to do was say we won't be like them.
