NewsBusters Publisher Bozell Discusses NPR President's Push to Tax Americans to Fund BBC-Style State Media
The National Public Radio (NPR) executive who fired Juan Williams is behind an effort lobbying for a new tax to be levied on private media outlets in order to finance a BBC-style state media, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center Brent Bozell told viewers of Fox Business Network's "Varney & Company" at 10:45 a.m. today.
NPR president Vivian Schiller is "part of a group which wants to essentially tax existing media companies... and use that tax money to create a national network of public broadcasting companies to put out a news broadcast on a national basis, like an American BBC," Varney noted.
"Let's put it another way, the attack on Juan Williams... wasn't really an attack on Juan Williams," Bozell replied.

"It was an attack on Fox News by Vivian Schiller," Bozell added, noting that Schiller "i]s part of a [left-wing] group that is meeting in Washington... with the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission officials" with an eye towards propping up money-losing and generally liberally-biased media outlets like print newspapers by taxing profitable media outlets.
"Think about this, Stuart. This is the free market. The market wants Fox, it doesn't want these other networks. So these socialists in Washington are therefore going to tax the market and tax the successful ones so that they can get their message that the market doesn't want," Bozell concluded.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
A BBC model is unnecessary in the Information Age. No media need be subidized by public funding.

Here is a better, more substantive description of what this woman, NPR, and George Soros is all about. A key quote from this bitch (don't worry, I have Joy's permission to use the term): "This is not your grandfather's radio. We are nimble, we engage our audience, we work with partners, we are eager to bring ever more like-minded partners into the public media."
I have a real problem with the "like-minded" phrase. I think she demonstrated this very aptly with the firing of Juan Williams.
