After the 1st half I almost did not have the heart to watch the 2nd half. Different game entirely in the 2nd half. Somehow they rallied and Miami folded. Either way a win is a win.
I watched a lot of the Race in the first half, that was hard to look at. Completly out of sync, getting Drew clobered. The defence really came back and did a nice job in the second half after giving up the long run to Ricky. Bell was a monster.
You call it game of the weak and I call it crummy game of the week. From here on out the distinction will be between the Panthers, Deadskins, Bills and Bucs.

To commissioner Goodell,
This is just my opinion, so you may treat it as you see fit. I am a conservative. I believe in free enterprise. I am not a racist. I used to get excited about the NFL, but since your misguided statements regarding Rush Limbaugh and his attempted ownership I find the fire I used to have in my belly is just not there anymore. If you truly analyze your main fan base, you will realize that it is conservatives who believe as I do that pay for your league and your alienation of them is not a good move. An apology to Rush and a clarification of his status would go a long way toward healing this rift. Your rush to judgment in this matter is bad for your fan base, bad for the NFL and bad for race relations in this country.
An observation on the Bucs/Patriots game in London.
I've noticed in the past few years that Americans are becoming more and more disrespectful during the singing of the Start Spangled Banner. The professional sports organizations perpetuate this by having pop singers sing, who mangle and adlib the music. It's a performance, not the reverential singing of our national anthem. Add to that the cheering that starts long before the end of the song. Just awful.
In contract, I've noticed that the Brits and other countries always sing their anthem straight, no adlibbing, and the entire crowd sings along. They also wait until the song is over before cheering.
Not to mention that they usually have a "real" singer lead the singing, like today's Katherine Jenkins. Toni Braxton couldn't sing a single phrase without taking a breath in the middle of it.
I very seldom listen to someone singing the national athem. NASCAR is supposed to be based on country traditions yet they get those freaks like Kid Rock to screw up our song-not his. NASCAR is the worst as far as I am concerned.
The greatest redition I think I ever heard was the Friday night after 9/11 when the combined bands of Havelock High School and West Craven HS marched onto the field and performed prior to the game. I think the whole crowd was singing before it ended. I will never forget that night. Many of the kids in Havelock's band had a parent(s) in the Marine Crops. Theses kids had to have thoughts as to where mom or dad would be going in the coming weeks and months.
They pulled it off because the band directors at both schools were good buddies and had written the arraignment themselves.

I like that folks add their own personality, style, and heart into the Anthem. It is a very difficult song to sing and the folks are usually cheering for an outstanding performance (or the fly over). I have heard versions, from Whitney Huston, The Grateful Dead, Aretha Franklin, and many others that have stirred me still. The National Anthem is a song of celebration, not of solemn reflection,,well not yet anyway.
I have got to see the Broncos play several times and I have really been impressed by Knowshawn Moreno. So much so I was ready to hand him the Rookie of the year award in the NFL. So the fix is on. Everytime the Saint's challenge a call, The crew in Miami is going to unplug the replay machine. What a crock.
Edit: I guess it doesn't matter, it looks like the Saints spent the week reading about their Giants win. Well if the Saints have to lose, this is the one to lose - its meaningless. They look pretty bad right now.
Edit 2: So the Saints have no replay available when Miami is awarded and obvious incomplete pass. But Miami gets two replays, taking one touchdown from the Saints? Where the hell was the booth on the Saints challenge?
The moment the replay was unavailable for the Saints it should have been removed from the rest of the game. That is cheap crap.
I hope the Saints come back and shove the ball straight up their Everglades.
