10/10 for effort. Comedy is hard. It's all in the delivery. Many of the best quotes from the serious newsbusters journalists were when they were delivered as serious journalists. Not all wanted to be followed by laughter. Some should have been followed by an "mmm". Some serious/some funny. Some of them are better as serious. That's a lot of material too. 3.5 minutes & I was ready for a break.
I'd never seen Ed Shmultz before. Is that seriously on TV?

Personnally if it was me running the show I would have just emphasized the silly comments made by the liberal loons and demphasized the MRC staff comments - perhaps cutting it down to the one that rates the best and only if they really spear the subject matter.
After all, the comments made by the loons are what is really humorous anyway....
But that is just me.

I kind of thought that's what it was going to be. The Rush people do awesome audio montages that really illustrate when they are all following the same template. But they don't have them every week, just when it's really relevent.
Perhaps that's the way forward - this is just one part of a bigger, more general show

9/10 for me...
October 12, 2009 - 10:09 ET by Border FoxReally enjoyed the comic takes on the quotes... A few quick suggestions...
1) In the textual description of the latest video, put the full quotes that are being examined/ridiculed and who said them.
2) cut the "out takes" part entirely... The humorous take on the selected quotes is good, the outtakes are overkill (at least for me)..
3) Place these on Youtube too..
That's about it... overall I scored your efforts 9/10... Thanks for all the effort and humor it's appreciated and enjoyed!

October 12, 2009 - 21:01 ET by RescuedByRushI think yours is a good summation, FS. I wanted to love this and forward it to everyone on my list. But it just didn't hit the mark. I have no skills in this area, (media/entertainment), to offer legitimate suggestions, but I'll still second your comment.
This is a rich target, but this effort missed the mark. I guess the best way I can sum up my disappointment is to say, (again), that I would've liked to have sent this to my wife or other left leaning friends that I have in order to help open their eyes.
I don't think that it would work, though, as it presupposes a level of knowledge/engagement that the target audience probably does not have. In saying this, I'm presuming that the target audience is libs that are in denial.
As FS said, the concept is good, keep working at it, it's a worthwhile endeavor.
Not bad
October 12, 2009 - 12:45 ET by jon_torlinI liked it, was a nice few minutes of entertainment, truth being stranger than fiction and all that.
Just one audio suggestion, try not to use background music that's got a snap-sounding beat, that one segment in the first minute's background music that had it was a bit distracting, but that's just me. People with hearing problems might have a hard time focusing on the speech. Just a suggestion!

No. But have no fear, I know how to fix the problem... All of you get together about an hour early and tap a keg of beer. You should be loose as a Goose by the time the cameras get rolling. October 12, 2009 - 15:06 ET by BlondeI was kind of thinking about the wardrobe thing, too.
Maybe mix it up (from week to week?). Someone go ultra button-down conservative....to the real dressed down look. Also, think about your hair cuts, guys.
I know you just put this together, but the Olympics is old news...keep it really up to date.
Also, focus on the BIG media talking heads.
And please, don't forget to include Brent Bozell, laughing (clips from F&F would do)! He has one of the best laughs in the business, (I'm thinking of his mockery of J. Garofolo last week)....the leftists hate being laughed at.
Also, I liked the suggestion to perhaps take some of the more pointed comments here, and read them (with the comment printed in the background). We have so many media bias stories, and so many spot on comments in the threads, not to mention certain *ahem* jokers.
Just my $.02.

October 12, 2009 - 15:08 ET by jon_torlinThis is the first episode, right? Makes it a pilot, which means you show it to some people, look at their responses, make a few tweaks as you see fit and try again and hope like hell that the audience likes it. If not, try again!
You guys got a lot of responses that were pretty constructive, heck, if you'd shown this on Kos or Huff, the typical response would have been "you suck!" or worse. Shows what kind of people you have here, wouldn't you agree?

Here's 2 cents worth. Have some guest commentators that are conservative critics who've perhaps had some face time and are more comfortable in front of the camera. Could even be old school conservatives that have been out of the limelight that could use a little dusting off.
Sounds kinda like TMZ
October 12, 2009 - 18:12 ET by RedRepubIt's kinda distracting when the commentators are looking off camera. Who are they talking too? The laughter off-screen reminds me of TMZ's late night TVshow. (All of the staff just sits around the actual office and give funny comments.)
The jokes are kinda funny. If they are too long, they seem to bomb. The delivery needs to be better. (A few times it sounded like they are reading from cue cards, almost like Ben Stein (who is dead to me, btw).)
The big guy with the hair sounds like he is doing an impression, not using his actual voice. There is only room in this world for one Paul Vogt (from MAD TV). Be yourself.
