Great Headline
October 4, 2009 - 10:41 ET by ricklailJust a word on college football. The Charlotte Observer had a great headline this morning. Tar Heels offense just offensive. If I was writing I would have said it flat sucked. Three turnovers and 9 first downs. Tell me that don't suck.
Poor Lame Kitten lost another SEC game. As much as I dislike Auburn, I think they will give Bama and LSU a run for their money in the SEC west.
On to the pros. The Panthers and Falcons are idle so we get to watch the Washington-Tampa Bay game. OH GOODIE. Crap. The AFC game, Tennesse-Jacksonville, is not a lot better. . The second game is Dallas-Denver. That should be a 100% better game. All is not lost. The NASCAR race from Kansas is on.

October 4, 2009 - 10:47 ET by 411best game of the day: ravens/patriots
worst game of day: bills/dolphins
expect Rivers to play well at Pittsburgh as the Bengals exposed the Steeler pass defense last week. I predicted 10 wins for the Bengals before the season started and after today they could very well have 3.

October 4, 2009 - 10:57 ET by ricklailI must disagree. Redskins/Bucs. Then Bengals/Browns (not because of the Bengals) then the Bills/Dophins.

worst game of day
October 4, 2009 - 11:24 ET by 411i can see your point but i think we can agree there are a few terrible games on today. if you're a fan of 1 of those teams you may want to take a 'mall trip' with the mrs. and put some coin in your bank. hahahahaha

October 4, 2009 - 11:30 ET by ricklailThe Panthers are idle today. Even though they are crummy they are still my team. Next week's worst game will be the Redskins/Panthers. No debate needed on that.

Baltimore - New England
October 4, 2009 - 11:12 ET by KC MulvilleI'm not a native Baltimorean, and the Eagles are still my team, but the Ravens are a quality football team. I like the coach, I love the defense, and Flacco is looking better every day. The Ravens-Patriots game should be a lot of fun.
My only question this week is how many stories ESPN will focus on Michael Vick, since the Eagles are on the bye. Last week infuriated me. The Eagles were solid, and Kevin Kolb had a great day. Kolb led the offense, distributed the ball smartly, and the running game actually looked effective. Michael Vick was on the field for about 7 plays, and accumulated about 7 yards total. So who did ESPN focus on? Michael Vick. Unbelievably bad sports coverage.

Picks
October 4, 2009 - 11:31 ET by BKeyserI'm a Baltimoron- so my picks reflect not only my best guess, but my hopes for the Ravens' sake, as well:
Bears over Lions
Cleveland over Bengals (Cincy letdown + Law of averages + better for my Ravens)
Colts over Hawks
Giants destroy KC (not you mulville)
Skins over Bucs (score: 3 to 2)
Titans finally win one at the expense of the Jags
Texans take care of the black hole
Saints win at home
Miami gets #1 over the Bills
Niners (yeah Noel!) over the Rams
the Boy's end the Broncs undefeated season
the Bolt's steal one in Pittsburgh
Vikes at home over the Pack
and of course- the Purple and Black make Brady look injured.

Reggie Jackson
October 4, 2009 - 11:27 ET by ricklailReggie Jackson is wanting to be an analyst for the Worl Series games. As I recall he never had anything to do with the media when he was playing in the Series. Shannon Sharpe was the same way. CBS hired hin and now he won't shut up. Would Reggie be the same way? I assume that it would be hard for Joe Buck or Tim McCarver to get a word in edgewise.

Keep forgetting to tell you, J - my daughter-in-law is from Titusville and L-O-O-OVES Tebow et. al. She attended SFU (sorry if abbrev. is wrong). But she has Gator everything all over her house (along with Broncs cause of my son). We have become Gators fans because of her.
Edit: We are praying the Broncs get Tebow in the draft next year. Sh-h-h-h-h... (like most of the NFL isn't praying the same thing!)

Defense
October 4, 2009 - 18:08 ET by nwahsDefense is the difference between this team being 4-0 instead of 2-2 as it would have been last year. I said it in the beginning of the season, if they can get a top 10 defense against the run, top 15 overall, they would be a top seed in the playoffs. Its panning out much better than I expected.
Last year, the Saints would have lost this game badly as the offense was sputtering. This year, it was a little close, but not much.
The only thing we have to worry about is another team scooping up Gregg Williams as head coach :(
Barring a rash of injuries - 12-4 to 14-2 would be a good bet.

October 4, 2009 - 17:30 ET by BlondeMany here were shocked when I posted that Chris Evert and Greg Norman married last year.....so I'm sorry to have to tell you that the SPORTS DREAM MATCH IS OVER.
I'm sorry it failed....but WOW....$60 million to dump your wife for a legend? Color me stunned. How stunned is the Shark?
And just so you all know, I admire Chris, alot. I've been watching her since I was a little kid and she was 14 (doesn't she look great for 54?), playing at the Yacht Club here. Chris & I have the same Ft. Lauderdale accent....any local could tell you that.

They were both LIONS in their own sports...and apparently friends (with their respective spouses) before.
The whole thing is incredibly sad. Truly.

And as a final point. It doesn't matter how much money anyone has. Values matter.
