The swine flu pandemic could kill millions and cause anarchy in the world's poorest nations unless £900m can be raised from rich countries to pay for vaccines and antiviral medicines, says a UN report leaked to the Observer.
Is this just another "crisis" the UN will use to redistribute wealth, or are they right? Should "rich" nations pay for the world's vaccines in order to prevent a pandemic?

Not a conspiracy, these are facts. There was an article a while back that officials (various kinds) were scratching their heads as to why the swine flu isn't making waves like they thought it would, and looking at that, you'd think officials were disappointed about that.

They are saying that, while this is a real flu, and we ought to take sensible precautions, it is not as virulent as "normal" flu, apparently. About 1,000,000 world-wide have been infected thus far, with about 3,500 deaths.
There are about 36,000 deaths annually from regular flu, about 100 a day. So they seem to be backing off this "we are all going to die from N1H1 if we don't get a vaccine shot" scenario, and trying to bring some calm and real data to the matter.
It's very interesting to watch the media go in panic mode over the issue. They cry "wolf" all the time, it seems, don't they?

Send that job to China, where the worker gets maybe $2-3,000 per year. In turn, that worker maybe buys $50-100 of goods from the U.S. per year. Who can argue with that sound reasoning?

I'm for Pawlenty, and he rocked the place. It's early.

The WH is now denying any meddling. But after Chris Wallace's revelation of crybaby messages from the WH regarding news content, is there any doubt whatsoever that Patterson has been receiveing direct calls from the WH? No doubt in my mind at all!

Nothing at all to do with the good of the country, or the best person in Congress. Nope. It's simply about getting the rquired number of votes so that Congress doesn't have to think about what they are doing.
Here's the key, open phrase: A month after a White House spokesman labeled the issue a state matter, Patrick said he and Obama spoke about changing the [Massachusetts] law as they both attended Kennedy's funeral in Boston last month. He also said White House aides have been in contact frequently ever since and pushing for the change so they can regain their filibuster-proof majority in the U.S. Senate. "He [Obama] and his whole team have been very clear about that," Patrick [Mass Gov] told reporters.
So, here we have the President cherry-picking State laws that he wants to have changed. Why is this man the president? He has no moral compass whatsoever. Chicago-style politics, on the National level.

No, it's because Patterson chose Kristin Gillibrand rather than Caroline Kennedy for Hillary Clinton's Senate seat.
I understand why Obama would throw Patterson under the bus. Patterson has said that people don't want him (Patterson) to run for re-election because he's black and he blames his 30% approval rating on the white-dominated media. New York is a high profile state and Obama doesn't want a loose canon in the position of governor.
There is a rumor floating around that Obama wants Hillary Clinton to run for NY Governor. I don't understand why Hillary would agree to that, but stranger things have happened.

In a study of the last "Pandemic" Flu incedent in the 1900's, they said it was suspected that the Flu virus killed very few people. It was was bacterial Pneumonia and other respiratory infections ( such as Staff ) that killed millions. We now have antibiotics to prevent that.
Many Doctors treating Swine Flu patients so far, say that the effects are milder than our usual Seasonal Flu. They do not even reccommend the Vaccines this year except for the very old, and people with COPD, and other ailements. The finding is that the Vaccines cause more bad side effects and have not proven to provde protection.You can Google or Bing this.

I think the real story here, would be to take a look at statistics to see when past flu virus' have started to take hold. That, I believe, would tell us a little more as how concerned we really should be.
