With the college football season in full-swing today, as well as the U.S. Open -- not to mention baseball season winding down before the playoffs begin!!! -- it seems like a good time to bring back the sports open thread.

So, what games do you like today?

Can anybody beat Roger?

Can anybody beat the damn Yankees?

Who's looking to go all the way to the Super Bowl this year?

Did I forget anything?

What games do I like today? Most of them. I guess the marquee game is Bama-Va. Tech. You know I have to pull for the ACC. If Va. Tech can win that helps put the ACC back into the national spotlight.

My Heels play the Citadel. Not even interesting. To be fair neither is FL-Charleston Southern.

I am going to predict that Ga. Tech will win the ACC championship and play Pitt, Big East winner, in the Orange Bowl.

How about Florida/Texas in the national championship?

I wonder if this will be Charlie Weiss final season at ND. They are expecting a lot out of ND but I don't see it.

Appalachian State is here today to play ECU. I'll never forget what they did to Michigan.

Watch out for the Jorja Bulldogs. Even though they haven't gotten the press they had at the start of last season they still have one of the best defences in the nation.

I am just glad that football is back. What I saw between NCSU and South Carolina was crummy football. By the way, even though SC didn't look good I didn't see the visor hit the ground one time. He took it off several times but I didn't see the Ole Ball Coach throw it.

The Longhorns shouldn't have any problems with the Big 12 North teams. We are going find out tonight how good OK State is. I think A&M is supposed to be better but the game there will always be The Sooners and the Longhorns.

In a 7 games series no one can beat the Yankees.

However, if Burnett continues to decline in his starts and Joba Chamberlain cannot improve as a starting pitcher, they can lose.

But in terms of hitting, 1 through 9 is as good as it gets.

It's an experience I'd highly recommend for any college football fan. Tailgating is out of this world; it's like an all-day party. Plenty of good Louisiana cooking and lots of cold ones to go around before the game.

To clarify, the game is in Seattle, not Baton Rouge, hence the late kickoff. But we'll be at home next week to play Vandy.

I thought the game was in Baton Rouge. I had a Captain in the Army who was a grad of Ole Miss. He said that Baton Rouge on a Saturday night was like no other for football. That was over 40 years ago. I think that Charlie Mac was the coach at that time.

I was lucky enough to catch an LSU football game in Baton Rouge about 40 years ago. Was the best crowd, the wildest fun I ever had at a football game. And got to see the tiger! Whatta night.

Blonde is still soaking up the rays on the west coast of Coasta Rica. She woant be back until the week that that the Gators play Lame Kitten and the girls from Knoxville.

I am big Tarheel fan but I have to agree with you. The Yellowjackets look good to win the ACC. I was watching a bit of their game and they look like they are hitting on all cylinders.

As far as the Dawgs go I think they are going to surprise a lot of teams-maybe not the Gators though. Last year there was a lot of pressure at the start of the season being ranked # 1 and all. This year they are not expected to do that good so they can pin their ears back and let loose.

I can't watch it. Michigan-W. Michigan is out of contol. Looks like they'd switch to that game.

Best game all day so far that I got to see was Appalachian State/ECU. ECU won 29-24 but ASU game them a run for their money in the last 2 minutes.

Wake/Baylor-battle of the Baptist, is on ABC. Wake is making too many mistakes. Highly touted QB of Baylor, Robert Griffin, is carrying Baylor.

I was just looking at the Tarheels schedule. They play the Yellowjackets on the 26th in Atlanta time to be announce. My son is getting married that day so the whole day will be tied up with that.

The Yellowjackets sure did look good even if was against Jacksonville St.

Wake me when the games are played within the conferences in another month.

The pros are going to suck for me this year, with that idiot McDaniels and his trading of Cutler, so I will need some college games to watch on the side to ease the pain.

We still parade Mike the Tiger around the field before the game. LSU gave him a large, state-of-the-art habitat a few years ago, and it's a big attraction for visitors to the campus.
