Shut up, Dick. Let's wait

August 25, 2009 - 09:06 ET by spmcintyrethe libs don't back off all this proposed spending.
The only way the libs can save seats in 2010, is to repeal the stimulus bill, shred the cap and tax and health care bills and cut taxes. If the economy is still crap in 2010, the libs are gone, maybe for good this time. I hope that lady was right when she told Arlen Specter, you have woke the sleeping giant...
If the conservatives, libertarians, republicans and right leaning independents don't lose interest before this time next year, I think there will be record numbers voting against the libs.
When it comes to government, its not whether the glass is half full or empty, its that the glass is to big by half.
I wish you were right, but
August 25, 2009 - 09:26 ET by BruzillaI wish you were right, but sadly these things seem to be cyclical in nature. Over time, people forget what's happened in the past, and what was once old and failed becomes new again. The appeal of getting something for nothing will never go away, so the Libs will always be in business.

August 25, 2009 - 09:42 ET by celatorDan, I know you're pulling Blonde's leg here but, interestingly enough, the Brits actually have a parallel system--something US media never talks about. They have a public system and a very very very expensive private insurance system.
Obama's right when he says he doesn't want to create a Brit or a Canadian health care system. He wants to make our health care system MUCH worse. ;=]

August 25, 2009 - 09:34 ET by Georgia GirlLike with everyone, you have to know a person's strengths and weaknesses -- and discern for yourself what you can gain in listening to what they have to say. The reason I will listen to and reflect on what Morris has to say is that he is often right about the players. Yes, he over-reaches & wants to sell his books. But he has experience with the behind-the-scenes Washington machine, and I think there is value in understanding that better.

August 25, 2009 - 09:25 ET by pwozI hope he's right, but the stimulus was specifically crafted to artificially improve our economy during the 2010 elections. The statists will do whatever they can to prolong the eventual collapse of the dollar, which will be after the 2012 recoronation.

August 25, 2009 - 09:28 ET by Dan The Man 2Saw that last night and like all Dick Morris comments it seems over the top. It is a long time between elections and depends on the elctorate and ACORN. It is also btween Presidential elections which usually means the more politicaly astute will vote. And these days its a crap shoot .. so come on 7 .. baby needs a new pair of shoes.
I say a significant portion will go but 100 is quite a bit. Perhaps enough to sorta even things up? But, then they will really start blaming the GOP and it might stick.

August 25, 2009 - 13:06 ET by Dan The Man 2I should think the first step would be a civil rights violation lawsuit aimed at the treasuries of the New Black Panther Party and ACORN.
I think using past incidences as an example the best way would be mega violence. Take matters into our own hands. We need to tape the incidents making sure they start it, which may be easy the first few times but harder as they catch onto the game.
Drastic measures may have to be taken to ensure our rights. If John Law aint there then we must make our own.

How long do you think it
August 25, 2009 - 10:23 ET by NL207How long do you think it will take or Americans to grasp that widespread voting fraud by Democrats is in part responsible for the current state of affairs?
Many people have heard abount the 'Franken' election in whcih 25 heavily Democrtatic precincts that voted overwhelmingly for Franken had more votes counted than voters who actually voted. Another precinct reported more votes than registered voters in the precinct, also going for Franken.
More recently, the special election in NY20 to replace Kirsten Gillibrand has revealed vote fraud. Numerous admissions have surfaced that owners of vacation and summer residences in Saratoga and Columbia Counties are registered to vote in those counties and did vote in that special election despite also being registered to vote in NYC, where their principle residence is located. These same voters voted in the city on Nov 4 2008. They will most likely vote in NYC in Nov 2009. New York has declined to prosecute these people citing a lack of intent on the part of these crooks. That special election was decided for Democrat Scott Murphy, by a few hundred votes, and these criminals are those votes.

Hmm...
August 25, 2009 - 10:15 ET by Meredith1966I'd feel more confident in this prediction if it were August 2010 instead of August 2009. Still lots of time between then and now and who knows what may happen in the interim. Not that I would mind seeing the Socialist Democrats get kapowed next year, but it's way early for making that kind of forecast. I remember Morris saying with certainty in early 2008 that Hillary Clinton would be the next POTUS. He, like many, had no way of predicting our Life of Brian-style Messiah coming on the scene to mess up Hillary's coronation with his own. So, while Dick's 100-seat prediction sounds great, I'll wait until closer to November 2010 to put any real faith in it.

Losing Seats
August 25, 2009 - 10:33 ET by GothampcAs much as I would love to see large amounts of Congress voted out, I think it's too early to tell. Right now people are angry. But anger has a way of disappearing until the next time. (During the Carter administration, we had to ration gas. Everyone was angry, but was anything actually done?) By the end of 2009, everyone but conservatives will have forgotten the disaster of Cash for Clunkers, Healthcare, stimulus, cap and trade, etc. Those time bombs aren't set to go off for another year or two. If Obama can keep things tranquil between Summer 2010 and November 2010, few seats will be lost.

August 25, 2009 - 10:36 ET by taterNot that I was surprised but when Glenn Beck exposed Obama's Green Jobs Czar Van Jones as a self-proclaimed commie that made my blood boil. Then I went to Van's wiki page and the quote is plainly stated right there how he became a communist. This should be enough grounds to impeach Obama in my opinion. You are winning hands down, not that hard as they all support an quasi-socialist ideology with over two centuries of failure with which to call upon as proof.
Then it comes, in that whiney sanctomonious voice that liberals all seem to possess...
"Well you don't like Obama cos you're a racist. Only racists could fail to see the brilliance of Obama... blah... whine... blah..."
"Not true," you respond jovially...
Re Disappearances
August 25, 2009 - 13:45 ET by slickwillie2001It's sometimes worthwhile to save articles in the liberal media if you think they might be disappeared. The guys at NB often write articles on headlines that have been PC-modified or articles that disappear entirely. You can send them stuff on the tipline email address when it works. Screenshots or an entire firefox-save where it creates a folder with every component of the webpage works too. That's how I saved the entire webpage of the first appearance of the Obama Joker, now disappeared.

Barney Frank can't even get his lies straight...
August 25, 2009 - 14:17 ET by Jack BauerRush has just played a clip of Barney Frank yesterday on a Boson Fox affiliate...
He was being pitched softballs (no pun intended) by the Manbo interviewer... I paraphrase his reply...
"You know I'm werrry surpwised that my Wepubwicann fwends are suppworting (okay that enough with the written lisp) Lyndon LaRouche supporters in calling Obama, Hitler. And by the way I disagreed when some used to call Bush, Hitler...
Why ould he disagree with calling Bush Hitler?
After all, in 2007 Barney accused President Bush of organizing "ethnic cleansing" in N'awlins to help the GOP win elections.
Mmm, isn't that a phrase for "Genocide." Some Austrian guy was quite famous for that. Mmmm, oh yeah.
HITLER.

Bamster's Books
August 25, 2009 - 15:01 ET by slickwillie2001Slate has the mandatory snarky article comparing the Bamster's summer reading list to President George W. Bush's:
Barack's Book Bag: http://www.slate.com/id/2226142
The Bamster could spend the summer reading Doonesbury cartoon collections and listening to 2LiveCrew on his walkman, and the liberal media would praise him for his common touch and his connection with the popular culture.

This just irks me, as we have lost so many historic, and not just Civil War related, areas in this country as it is:

We are heading down the toilet so fast, is there ANYONE, any GROUP of sound MINDS out there, that knows how to deal with and reverse such astromical numbers? BY GETTING GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE WAY!!!! The numbers are off the charts, out of anyone's realm of complete understanding. We are being setup for something I don't think we even can fathom until it hits us. When that is, I don't know, but it's coming because the spending trend continues out of control. The spending MUST STOP, and reverse. Forward movement of the current spending pace will end America. Period!!! The world will not continue to buy our debt, and we cannot continue to print useless paper.

August 25, 2009 - 18:43 ET by GregEThey'll soon be forced to pay attention. The Great Depression caused people to pay attention, involuntarily. The current trend has to cease. If it does not, America's days are numbered. It's pure logic. Not doom and gloom talk, not an opinion. Pure logic.
On the debt clock, notice in the center, Est Currency and Credit Derivatives. That number is $644 trillion. I never noticed it until I saw Beck bring out the debt clock with Charles Payne and they pointed it out.

Remember, those elections are a year away and by then how many "Czars" will Obama have? A few dozen czars will probably outweigh a few hundred Congressment by then.

BREAKING NEWS TED KENNEDY DIES OF BRAIN CANCER

that sucks
August 26, 2009 - 00:33 ET by candanceEDIT: Want to be polite. I'm sure he was a nice person, even with a checkered life. May God have mercy.
That was really fast, though. Just last week he was pushing for legislation. Weird.
Yeah Candance
August 26, 2009 - 00:38 ET by shawn228This is what sets NB apart from leftist sites is people generally don't take cheap shots like KOS about Tony Snow and Charlton Heston in death. However some of the comments on Tiller surprised me though, I guess peoples POV on abortion always brings out the worst in them, pro life and pro choice.

August 26, 2009 - 00:47 ET by ckc1227Well, it's kind of hard to feel remorse for a man who made his living killing the most innocent among us for reasons as trivial as wanting to go to a concert. He earned any disrespect he received.
As for Kennedy, rest in peace, sir. Cancer takes far too many people.
ckc1227
August 26, 2009 - 00:51 ET by shawn228I understand ckc, just like I don't expect people to feel remorse for Kennedy, I'm just saying most of the times people on NB are very respectful. With Tiller people just decided to focus on the monster he was an how the the msm would react, rather than the fact he was gunned down in a Church in front of his family.

I'm sorry shawn
August 26, 2009 - 00:55 ET by candancebut as far as I'm concerned, Tiller was no better than Jeffrey Dahmer. I'm sorry for how it happened and that bystanders witnessed it. But Tiller gets no sympathy from me.
Like I said candance
August 26, 2009 - 00:59 ET by shawn228I don't expect anyone to have sympathy for him, but when Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer or Elizabeth Edwards was diagnosed with breast cancer I saw nothing but class from NB members.
It just threw me for loop on how people talked about the dead with Tiller and it was surprising. I also disagree with you about the "Dahmer" comparision, but I don't want to go down that road tonight.

August 26, 2009 - 01:11 ET by MrShyBecause Tiller is a different matter altogether. He was not a politician, he ran a business that many found to be reprehensible. Not sure why you're equating many NB'ers reaction to him vs. to Kennedy and others you're mentioning. How he was killed is irrelevant.
And R.I.P. Ted.
Like candance said...
August 26, 2009 - 01:29 ET by shawn228...it is old news. I can debate you on the how he was killed as being relevant, but you will probably use the scoreboard on me again and steal material from another poster. You still have not changed and love to speak for other posters.
Good night shy and R.I.P. Ted Kennedy.

Legislation
August 26, 2009 - 01:02 ET by slickwillie2001So it appears likely that those that brought up legislation regarding his replacement process suddenly in the last week or two may have had a heads-up on his condition, since the last public reports on his status from a month or two ago were somewhat optimistic.
Last I heard, changes to Massachusetts law had not made it through, which means wait until November. Anyone confirm?
slick...The timing of all that "replacement" talk...
August 26, 2009 - 01:48 ET by PrairieSkydoes make you wonder, doesn't it? Who knows?...
Now that he has passed, I hope that Kennedy got himself "right with the Lord" before he died. He had a number of things in his life that he likely is having to answer for now.
