For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Cap and trade in jeopardy -- Gore to the rescue!

Former Vice President Al Gore will meet with House Democrats Thursday to appeal to reluctant lawmakers to approve the controversial climate change bill on Friday, FOX News has learned. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is rolling the dice with her plan to lug the bill to the House floor without the full confidence that the legislation will pass.

Does Gore have the juice to sway enough Democrats to get this travesty passed, or do enough people on the left understand what a charlatan he is and will vote based on the merits instead of the myth?

Just a placation exercise.

Even the dumb dems realize Gore got no juice now.

OBMA: WILL MAKE U MORE "MISERABLE"

OBAMA: WILL MAKE U MORE “MISERABLE”

MISERY INDEX = Unemployment rate + Inflation rate (lower is better of course)
Check the highs and lows by Party in the WH and Party controlling congress…

Gerald Ford…..1974–1976…14.93 that reached 19.90 by Jan 1975 (Dem congress)

Jimmy Carter (D)…1977–1980…12.60 that reached 21.98 by June 1980 (Dem congress)

Ronald Reagan (R)..1981–1988…to 7.70 in Dec 1986 from 19.33 in Sept 1981 (despite a Dem congress)

George Bush I (R)…1989–1992 ..9.64 from 12.47 in Nov 1990 (Dem congress)

Bill Clinton (D)……..1993–2000…to 5.74 Apr 1998 (Repub Congress 1994-98) from 10.56 in Jan 1993

George Bush (R)….. 2001-2008…from 5.71 Oct 2006 (Dems took Congress 2006-) to 11.47 in Aug 2008

B. H. Obama (R)…..2009 -from 11.47 Dem congress to ???…9.4+ jobless + inflation 1.3%? for 2009 = 10.7 minimum (dem congress)

(The Consumer PI for All Urban Consumers rose 0.3 percent in May before seasonal adjustment, the Bureau of Labor
Statistics reported today June 17. Over the last 12 months the index has fallen 1.3 percent. This is the largest decline
since April 1950 and is due mainly to a 27.3 percent decline in the energy index.)
REALITY CHECK: Gas prices are up about 50 cents a gallon with drilling blocked many places so this rosy figure will fade fast.

There is no denying, no juking, no spinning…the pattern is clear.
With trillions of new debt…anyone wanna bet the MI will be under 12 for Thanksgiving?

It is what it is…we are in for a very rough ride the next couple of years at least.

My Sides Are Splitting

Anyone who follows the AGW debate knows that former Clinton lackey Joe Romm had a serious incident with a stupid stick shortly after birth. Not to be outdone by his amazingly alarmist 'Global warming contributed to the Minneapolis bridge collapse' nonsense, Romm has now embarrassed himself further by blaming global warming for the fact that Tiger Woods did not win last weeks U.S. Open. All this despite the fact that it was cold and raining in NY last week.

Will MSM go after Kerry?

Sen. Kerry jokes: ‘Too bad’ Gov. Sarah Palin didn’t go missing

Think the MSM will go after him? I didn't think so.....

What a joker!!!

Wow, so when Letterman goes off air for being stupid, they can substitute F'ing.

He tells such great jokes, like the one about getting stuck in Iraq.

We need to not take this one seriously, just turn it around and make F'ing the butt of his own joke....which he obviously is as long as his mouth keeps moving.

Thanks for sharing that.

I hope he fails, too.

Blonde...Oh yeah...Isn't Kerry...

just a scream??? Lord, I loathe this guy...

Seems to me what's a real side-splitter is the one where after seeing some early exit poll results on election day 2004, one of Kerry's aides (very prematurely) called him "Mr. President", and the yutz ended up losing!! Now, that's funny! Wonder if that brings on a chuckle from "Lurch"...

Here you go Prairie

Whenever I think of F'ing....I have to think of these pictures (always makes my day).

Kerry dines alone in Iraq (so beloved by the troops).

I hope he fails, too.

Blonde...lol! Thanks for the...

great links...Geez this guy is such a geek! Kerry would do best to just keep his cakehole shut.

Good evening Blonde and Prairie

C'mon now. I know y'all just can't wait to hear of all his heroic war experiences and his daring hunting trips.

He did after all enlist in the  navy when he was only three.

Jesus Loves You so much He died for you

Afternoon coco!

I've heard quite enough of the fantasies that Kerry spun for all of us during the 2004 election, with him as the gallant war hero...

Don't get me started on Kerry...This guy just sends me into orbit! What a fraud and a phony he is...His entire life has been lived like that. His whole experience in the Navy was a joke...He has a barely concealed contempt for the Armed Forces and the people who serve in them...The only reason he served during the Vietnam War, was to enhance his resume' for when he ran for office. Period.

Shows you just how much the Dims fear Palin or any real conservative.  Of course Palin has some good ideas but she may not be uber conservative.

Maybe, just maybe....

Cap and Trade

Email, call, and fax your Congressmen and Women and respectfully ask them not to support the Cap and Trade bill. It will cause so much heartache on Americans.

r22weiss...Thanks...

for the reminder...I meant to email my congressman today, and your post reminded me! I just sent him an email urging him not to support Cap and Trade, although it was likely a futile exercise, because he is a Democrat who almost never misses an opportunity to vote the wrong way. But, I spoke my mind...We'll see what happens.

Go Australia!

Australia is straying from the politically correct path on the theory of AGW:

Australia Leads the Way in Rejecting Climate Change 'Solutions': http://www.americanthinker.com/blog

"The government of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has had a series of "climb downs" on climate change legislation that gives hope that sanity may prevail in at least one westernized industrial democracy. Take Australian Senator Steve Fielding who decided to investigate the evidence himself. An engineer by training, Fielding attended the recent Heartland Institutes Climate Change conference where skeptics presented about a dozen papers that exposed several myths about global warming."

What will our democratics do about Australia? Will Gore dare debate? Will the Bamster use foreign trade policy to beat Australia into submission?

'Gore will meet with House Democrats Thursday...'

Pelosi has told Gore to stay home.

DAILY WAVE

When people fear their government there is tyranny.

When government fears the people there is liberty.

This story stinks like last

This story stinks like last week's garbage.  Gore miss an opportunity to get face time?  Pilosi miss an opportunity to use Gore as a messenger?  I keep adding two and two and getting one.

I think the unspoken word going around inside Dem circles is that the Cap & Tax Bill is going to be DOA, and Gore doesn't want to be associated with its failure (Lord knows he's already associated with failure too often.)  I would bet that the truth is that Gore called Pilosi, and told her that unless she could guarantee the bill would pass... he wasn't coming.

Jobs

Cap-and-trade equates to green jobs. Before they are created those temporary stimulus jobs starting in 2012 and ending in 2014, temporary yet permanent unemployment for some 4M.

Maybe Gore knows more than he is letting on.

Buffett Gives Thumbs-Down

Warren Buffett seems to be in full revolt over the Bamster's programs, after supporting and endorsing him in the election. This is a big flip-flop; during the election he was quoted endlessly by those that praised the Bamster. Anytime the question was asked about business support for the Bamster's programs, Buffett was the next word. It will be interesting to see if this gets as much coverage as his endorsement did:

interesting?? Buffett was one of Obama's biggest supporters during the election...It always surprised me that Buffett did support Obama, because "O's" ideas were all so half-baked and ill-advised...Guess 'ol Warren has had second thoughts...As far as coverage goes, my guess is that the MSM will likely try to bury this turn-around...Should be interesting to watch...

A quickie Shrub Report

Happy National Catfish Day, everybody…

Just remember, the focus of the media is on adultery scandal of a governor, big-boob 70's blonde dying, and Iran, and not the insane Cap and Trade disaster and the escalation of violence in Iraq. It's almost as if that escalation is coinciding with the upcoming pullout of US forces. Naaah!

News From Iran

I don't know why Iran seems to be off the old media radar screen, -maybe because that suits the Bamster's objectives, or maybe it's just their 2-3 day attention span. The gatherings are definitely smaller, but far more violent.

In Iran it was the Day of the Axes: http://www.americanthinker.com

What a weird week...

What a weird, sad week...Three big celebrities gone in the same week...I grew up watching Ed McMahon with Johnny Carson, and I loved them both. I was 15 when "Charlie's Angels" went on the air, and I remember watching it, and I loved Farrah's hairstyle! Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I remember watching and listening to the Jackson 5, and I was a huge fan of Michael's during his "Thriller" years...He was everywhere, and seemed to own the music business. Then he and his career began to go in a really weird direction. I have mixed feelings now about Michael Jackson, and what the truth is concerning the child molestation allegations against him, we'll probably never know for sure. What is for sure is that the world has lost, in less than a week, 3 very big celebrities.

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

I have to admit

For me, Fawcett's death is the saddest. I mean, McMahon was getting on in years and was in bad health of late, so that wasn't a shock. I do have great memories of watching him and Johnny Carson...nobody will achieve what they had.  And while Jackson's death is a shock, I can't say that I'm saddened by it, primarily because of the pedophilia thing.  I realize he was acquitted but as you said, it still left a lot of things unanswered about his behavior.

Kat...I know what you mean...

Ed McMahon's and Farrah Fawcett's deaths, while very sad, were not unexpected...They both had been sick for a long while, bless both of them. Michael Jackson's death was a shock because I don't think that most people knew that he was in such bad health...I didn't know that he had a history of heart problems. What saddens me about Michael's death, began a long time ago with his long, slow slide into the weirdness and strangeness that seemed to define his life for the last roughly 20 years. He was so talented and had so much going for him...At the height of his success, no one, and I mean no one, could touch him...He was IT...And then it all seemed to go in such a strange, bizarre direction. Like you said, he was aquitted, but there were many of us that were left with a lot questions unanswered and a gnawing feeling that something about all of that that still didn't seem right. Whatever the truth is, it all ended today. Ultimately, I wish that all three of these very talented people have found peace...

You don't have to be older and/or overweight to have heart disease. Plenty of people who are of average weight or less can have a variety of heart problems. In Jackson's case, who knows what the truth is, but I'm sure we'll eventually know the details of what caused his death.

First Lady is Creating Role That Reflects Her Passions: http://www.washingtonpost.com

"For weeks, Michelle Obama had been telling her staff and closest confidantes that she wasn't having the impact she wanted. She is a woman of substance, with a background in law, public policy and management, who found herself relegated to role model in chief. The West Wing of the White House -- the fulcrum of power and policy -- had not fully integrated her into its agenda. She wanted more. Judging from the type of person that Michelle Obama seems to be and the type of personality that she has, I can only imagine what "more" might mean, concerning what she wants. As you said, this "can't end well..."

So MSNBC, CNN, and Fox are

So MSNBC, CNN, and Fox are devoting all their air time tonight to Michael Jackson's death.  He had a sad life despite his success, but is all this important?  He was a gifted singer, dancer, and songwriter with many problems.  He didn't cure cancer or implement public policy.  I would much prefer to head discussions on the networks regarding cap and trade or healthcare.

This isn't news, it's entertainment for the weak minded.

Someone who deserves more respect than MJ

It's tragic that Michael Jackson somehow did himself in, prematurely, from his lifestyle, etc.

Someone we should remember, and honor, for his great life, and all of the happiness he brought us.

Colonel Ed McMahon.

Godspeed, Colonel.....and we'll all be waiting for you to announce us, when we join you!

I hope he fails, too.

John Kerry tried to be funny the other day.

"Too bad, if a governor had to go missing it couldn't have been the governor of Alaska. You know, Sarah Palin."

I just wonder how funny that joke is now that we know what Sanford was up to.  The consummate gigolo's first victim must really think that joke was funny.
