Happy Father's Day to all
June 21, 2009 - 10:32 ET by motherbeltHappy Father's Day to all fathers here!!
God bless you, every one!
I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows. -Bart Simpson
Coffee, tea or Diet Pepsi spew alert
June 21, 2009 - 11:11 ET by ricklailUSA Weekend has an article on Mika Brzeninski. Boy what a farce. They tell the reader that Morning Smoe beat Good Morning America. What they don’t tell is the viewer’s ship was like 608,000 to 598,000 or about 10,000 viewers. The coffee spewing comment from Mika, “On our show, I found an outlet where I can be a little imperfect and a little bitter -- but be a little smart, too. I used to have to hide.” (I think be a little smart is to be a smart ass.)
To brag that you beat Meredith Verara is not saying a whole lot either.

al NYT Bias Alert
June 21, 2009 - 11:24 ET by slickwillie2001Al New York Times in an obvious attempt to make it appear the public is in favor of a socialist system of healthcare: NYT Oversamples Dems to Find Support for Nationalized Health Care: http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com
"The poll found that most Americans would be willing to pay higher taxes so everyone could have health insurance and that they said the government could do a better job of holding down health-care costs than the private sector."
Al New York Times is not to be trusted, anytime, any topic, any writer. Ever.
slick - polls are indeed a funny thing..
June 21, 2009 - 12:13 ET by Gary HallKeller's poll gets what Keller wants. Of course, he's asking uneducated folks (uneducated on the issues at hand) questions they really don't understand. For instance, from the NY Times (my bold):
"Something like Medicare?" How many of this 72% understand that Medicare is not a comprehensive medical plan - never has been? That's why tens of millions of older Medicare recipients all run out and purchase a Medicare supplement plan - a private insurance plan to cover what Medicare doesn't cover.
How many of the 72% clearly understand that in broad slices of the country - one cannot find a physician who will take Medicare. "Hey - I love my new Medicare for all plan -- but I don't have a doctor?"
How many of the 72% heard that SC nominee Sotomayor's brother, Dr. Juan Sotomayor, runs an asthma clinic in Sycamore, NY which does not accept Medicare (or Medicaid) patients. Think EE. Empty Empathy.
How many of the 72% heard, or understand, that Obama just announced that he's proposing to slash funding for Medicare and Medicaid by some $400 to $600 billion --- oh yeah - that will make it more comprehensive and bring in more primary care physicians to that failed and corrupt system. Note: He's robbing Peter to pay Paul.
If the NY Times gave the respondents a brief education about Medicare and then asked the same question - I can only imagine that the numbers would crash.
For a little more of a compehensive look at current views --
Last weeks in depth polling from the Pew Reasearch Center, provides a heck of a lot more detail of how the American people actually think.

The Gary Hall Pesky Fact Lecture
June 21, 2009 - 12:25 ET by BlondeSlick....now your life as a poster here is now complete....Gary's delivered your own personalized "pesky fact lecture".
Too bad we can't administer same to the media....and make it stick.
I wouldn't believe those cretins at the NYT if they said the sky was blue.
I hope he fails, too.

June 21, 2009 - 12:46 ET by Gary Hall..one of these "pesky" days - I'm going to get ya for that. Hee hee.

June 21, 2009 - 12:10 ET by ThisnThatObama: I share the world's "deep concerns" but it wouldn't be productive "to be seen as meddling."
Ahmadinejad warned the United States and Britain Sunday: Butt out. I advise you to correct your interfering stances. The "possibility of organized and comprehensive disruption and irregularities in the election ... is almost close to zero."
Soon to come, I'm sure: Obama's apology for meddling, along with an announcement that Iran will soon be placed on the "Favored nations" list. BTW true fact: He's already doubled the amount of exports to Iran this year.

June 21, 2009 - 12:27 ET by ThisnThatNote how CNN always questions non-authoratarian sources of info coming from Iran?
Yet, here's how they portrayed an Iranian report:
CNN didn't question these numbers, or the statement, at all. Wonder why? What makes CNN accept, without question, any and all statements from the Iranian Gov as fact; yet pro-actively questions any and all data coming from non-gov sources?

Re CNN
June 21, 2009 - 12:37 ET by slickwillie2001CNN seems to be pro-Ahmadi/Khameini, look at this: CNN's Shocking Suck-Up to Iran's Fascists: http://pajamasmedia.com
"The decisive margin of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s victory in elections last week stunned many observers and angered his opponents’ supporters, who in the ensuing days took to the streets in protest by the hundreds of thousands."
Decisive margin? In a fake election? Sounds like they are taking talking points from Politico re 'Ahmadinejad Won, get over it'.
Here is a Father's day

Iran-Where are our feminists???
June 21, 2009 - 14:09 ET by slickwillie2001This is the first attempted revolution I can think of where women are playing at least an equal part, fighting in the streets with the islamothugs. They are even more suppressed than men in Iran, and they are fighting for rights and freedoms American women take for granted. Where are Western feminists to support them? Waiting for an okay from the democratic party? Still going through dumpsters in Wasilla?

Feminism
June 21, 2009 - 15:54 ET by GothampcFeminism was never about getting equal treatment for women. It was about "Me first" and screw the rest of you. I've pointed out to some women that in Saudi Arabia an 8 year old boy can tell a grown woman what to do and she can be punished if she doesn't do it. They look at me and reply, "Yeah, but I'm getting paid only 75 cents for every dollar a man makes."

Happy Non-Fathers Day?
June 21, 2009 - 15:02 ET by Chris NormanI demand equal treatment under the holidays! As a non-father, I think my noble sacrifice should be honored with presents and a nice brunch. After all, I'm doing everyone a huge favor - the world is much better off without any of the kids I would have...this means quieter restaurants, higher grade point averages in schools, and later, a few less inmates in prison.... :)

June 21, 2009 - 15:55 ET by Chris NormanGood point - my mini-van was put to use last night ferrying my nephew and friends to dinner and the movies. I am the alternative driver, etc. to the full time job that is getting the kid to school and activities. Okay, why no Uncles and Aunts Day?

June 21, 2009 - 16:58 ET by Chris NormanWhen I realize I don't have to endure the slings and arrows of child rearing - I know that's true. The little crumb cruncher is an excellent student with academic and athletic awards out the wazoo, but not having to endure the battle of getting him to start his homework everyday of the school year is reward enough for me -oh, what am I saying, give me cash! :)

I'm a proud dad
June 21, 2009 - 16:51 ET by RukusTo all of you who have wished us dad's a Happy Fathers Day I say thank you and bless you!
I'm the proud dad of four. My oldest has finished his first tour with the US Navy and signed up for another, I am proud of him.
My second is just finishing his tour with the US Marines and is signing up with the Air Force, I am proud of him also!
My daughter is in college and is a very conservative young lady. She is doing well and has a good future ahead of her. I am very proud of her to say the least.
My youngest son just graduated high school with honors. He has a full scholarship to Troy University in Alabama. Good job son!
For all you dad's out there, Happy Fathers Day! Way to go dad's! Bless you all!
Sorry about the bragging, I can't help it, I am very proud of my kids!

→ Zycam alert!
June 21, 2009 - 22:16 ET by Cool ArrowI lost my sense of smell for three days back in April.
Now I find out it was probably the Zycam Gel that caused it rather than the flu symptoms.
Weird.
Cool~my "miracle cure" gone!
June 21, 2009 - 22:53 ET by Georgia GirlI was so in love with Zicam. I may be responsible for dozens of family and friends no longer being able to smell... This past cold/flu season, I read about Zicam. I checked out all the ingredients, and I thought it was a good product to try. So...whenever my husband, son or I got colds, I would go whip out the cold remedy sticks. It helped tremendously -- we've never gotten over colds faster. And then, as if that wasn't enough, when we felt just a twinge of a cold coming on, I'd whip out those sticks again -- and no colds came! I thought I had found liquid gold. It gets worse...
I kept two packs of the stuff in our medicine cabinet at all times, and I also touted its wonders to many family and friends (not to mention the UPS guy, the grocery clerk -- whoever brought up the topic of having a bad cold). Shoot, if I had samples, I would have passed them out. I could not believe it when that report came out saying you could use your sense of smell. Crap! To say I was bummed is putting it mildly. And then I had to strain my brain to remember everybody I told about Zicam.
Thankfully, none of us ever had a problem with losing our sense of smell, but I'm sure if they hadn't come out with this warning that we would have been prime candidates for never smelling the roses again. ^_^
I guess it's back to the standard chicken-and-noodle soup. Did I mention how bummed I am?
Zycam works - it counteracts the need for government healthcare
June 21, 2009 - 22:55 ET by spmcintyreIt actually does what it says its supposed to do, if you follow the instructions, I can not see how it could cause a problem, and if its only temporary, its a small price for not having a full blown cold,
there is no spoon...
Zicam or Zycam?
June 21, 2009 - 22:57 ET by Georgia GirlOK, now you both have spelled it with a "y," and it is making me think I've got the wrong spelling. Gosh knows we used it enough ... I could have sworn it was "Zicam."
?
ZICAM - and I use the oral spray version
June 21, 2009 - 23:15 ET by spmcintyreomg will I loose my sense of taste too???
there is no spoon...
LOL...
June 21, 2009 - 23:24 ET by Georgia GirlToo funny.^_^ At least you can still type!
OK, tomorrow I'm going online to find the whole spiel they gave on this because all I saw was this little news clip, but it showed the box of cold remedy sticks that we used ... and I went "Eek!" and tossed the box. I should know more about it. I don't even know if they pulled it from the shelves. Maybe it's people who were using the stuff all day long, every two hours. At least we did follow the directions on the box.
