BHO vs JFK
April 1, 2009 - 09:16 ET by JustAlThe media continually brings up comparisons of BHO and JFK. Yet very little attention is being paid to the most obvious comparison of all.
Russian strategic bombers are going to be based in Cuba and Venezuela, since I'm sure those bombers can launch stand off cruise missiles as ours can, this is de facto another Cuban missile crisis.
So how will His "O"lliness measure up to JFK? Will it be another "toe to toe" face to face, confrontation for the security of the US? Or, more likely, a "heal to toe" get together in an entirely different posture?
Re JFK
April 1, 2009 - 12:06 ET by slickwillie2001I'm afraid Obammy will measure up (or down) to JFK. It was JFK's weakness and vacillation on Cuba and other cold war issues that led the Soviets into their Cuban missile adventure. They saw him as a weakling that would fold under pressure. His incompetence that led us into the Cuban missile crisis and a lot of luck that carried us through it without starting a war. He was also easily the most corrupt President we have ever had. This is exactly what Russia, Iran and North Korea see in Obammy today.
Wars start because of sloppy and inconsistent diplomacy. God help us if Obammy is another JFK.
I actually did mention that
April 1, 2009 - 12:51 ET by motherbeltI actually did mention that in another comment; to wit:
JFK was "cool" and "sophisticated" (Chris Matthews' description of Obama), and Nikita Kruschev ate his lunch. He assessed Kennedy as having no backbone, which led to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
If Obama projects a similar weakness, we will be there again.
I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows. -Bart Simpson
The More Things Change
April 1, 2009 - 13:52 ET by NoJellyThough I pretty much agree with this assessment, the one thing besides luck that got us through in 1962 was the fact that JFK's Administration wasn't rife with an agenda-bent sycophancy. JFK had a few hawks in his office. How do you suppose he could have started the VietNam War without them?
The kind of "backbone" that exists in the present Administration is the kind that allies with Soviets...
TERM LIMITS-THE ONLY ANSWER
April 1, 2009 - 09:19 ET by JIMMY1660we need the rein in those in office-and right now. To have a $169,000.00 retirement along with full medical at retirement after one term is crazy!!we worry about AIG when those in the Senate and House are stealing our money daily.
Barney Frank-Chris Dodd-Maxine Waters can not be the best we have to run the country-fresh blood , new ideas-get the old boys out.
We need a national referendum on TERM LIMITS..
BHO- POTUS, is a Liar and Socialist
Re the only answer
April 1, 2009 - 12:28 ET by slickwillie2001We also need to totally remake the way we investigate ethics complaints against Congress. We need career prosecutors assigned to fixed terms, -a team to investigate Republicans and one for democratics. Each is nominated by the other party, and must be confirmed by a supermajority in Congress. Once confirmed they answer to the people, not Congress, and they investigate ethics complaints made to them by citizens. The current self-investigation process is worthless.
We also need a law that everyone in Congress, immediate staffs, and Presidential administrations must have their income taxes audited as a routine annual process and that process overseen by an independent accounting firm hired by the Auditor-General.

Price of gas/Biden
April 1, 2009 - 09:50 ET by ricklailHas anybody noticed how the price of gas has been creeping up? Right now it is 1/10 of a cent from being $2.00 a gallon. I seem to recall everytime it went up just 5 cents under Bush there was holy hell raised. Any price increase now would be the fault of Chairman Mao-Bama. Can't blame Bush for this. Is anyone hearing blame being put on the ONE?
**********************************************
Biden is going to be in Faison, NC, home of Vlasic pickles, today and Pikeville which is northwest of Goldsboro. Both of these towns are very small. I wonder if Chairman Mao-Bama is hiding him. You don't just go to Faison or Pikeville. They are not on major highways. I don't why he chose these 2 areas. Mt. Olive is better known for pickles than Faison.

Re Netanyahu
April 1, 2009 - 13:06 ET by slickwillie2001Yes, the Netanyahu-Obama dynamic will be interesting to watch, and unfortunately we will have to depend on foreign press to give us the whole unbiased story. Netanyahu (and in fact no leader of Israel) will kiss Obammy's butt like the Euros. I fear that the Bamster's appeasement policies mean that a short but furious nuclear war between Israel and Iran/Syria/Lebanon is a certainty. Hopefully it can be contained to those few countries and a body count to <100m.
But that will let the genie out of the bag and make others more likely, like India-Pakistan, or North Korea-rest of the civilized world. I expect that at that point the messiah will be in a fetal position underneath his desk.

However, why can't we, as individual private citizens, say to the government:
"Listen, I can't be a part of this any longer. I mean, I simply want to live under the government established by the principles of the Constitution. And you surely are not that government. So I will now secede from you, as a household, and govern myself and my family as I see fit. I will govern my household holding to the Constitution and the Scriptures. Please understand, and this isn't a threat, that I fully believe in the Constitution and I will defend it.
I will homeschool my kids, I will teach them how to handle firearms, I will conduct my business with the local community, and I will pay taxes on goods I purchase. I do not need your help, aside from delivering my mail.
As to taxes, I honestly do not believe I have to give you my money to use in ways that I do not believe in. If the money I gave you was used to keep the lights on in Congress, or used to provide better health benefits to veterans, than sure, I'd be happy to pay. But you and I both know this won't be the case, and isn't the case. My money goes to reprehensible and assinine activities that you, as the government, fully endorse and evangelize. You never asked me how I thought my money should be used.
So, thanks for, um, ...nothing. I am trusting that since I am seceding, you will see fit to leave me and mine in peace, and allow my household to live freely and in no danger of oppression. Thanks so much. God Bless."
If only...

April 1, 2009 - 13:21 ET by sherylsimsCan you IMAGINE if ANY of those gifts had been given by GWB during his time in office? We would have been subjected to nonstop parodies, jokes and reports about proper gifting. Now it is just being ignored or played off like it is what 'regular people' do. Not regular people I know. The regular people I know are far more considerate and generous and WE don't have the budget and resources the President and Michelle have. Sheesh!!! I am apalled!

Have you noticed that none of the skits that Saturday Night Live has done that have anything to do with the administration EVER poke fun at Obama (or Michelle)? They tiptoe around him, and never make him the butt of the joke or parody...They'll go after Biden, Geithner, Hillary or just about anyone else attached to the administration, but never Obamessiah...Lord knows he's given them enough ammunition, but they won't touch him.

April 1, 2009 - 14:16 ET by sherylsimsTheir "protocol people" (if they even exist) need to be replaced. I always pictured that the person representing the greates country in the world would at least take the time to LEARN how to behave in the presence of royalty. SHEEOOT even if they watched a few movies they might be able to figure it out... This HAS to be intentional to make America (and Americans) look like a bunch of uncultured backwoods dopes.
Re Protocol
April 1, 2009 - 15:24 ET by slickwillie2001The Obammys replaced the White House protocol office and the White House social director with some buds of theirs from the South side of Chicago. They probably saw these jobs as simply patronage positions that they could fill with those that supported them in the past. After all, what kind of experience do you need to zip over to Blockbusters and pick up a DVD collection.
I saw the names of the appointees on a blog sometime last month but neglected to save the links. The Bamster could have gone over to State and asked for help, but to do that you have to realize that you need help in the first place.
And since they have
April 1, 2009 - 15:29 ET by sherylsimsAnd since they have surrounded themselves with Chris Matthews-types who would NEVER say anything was amiss they never will realize they need help. Anything inappropriate that somehow gets brought to their attention will be dismissed as not worthy of their time.

I just don't understand...
April 1, 2009 - 13:13 ET by sherylsims... Where are the protocol people for this administration? This is getting to look like it is intentional. Are they really TRYING to give crappy and insulting gifts wherever they go? The queen is HOW OLD? I can barely see the screen on my little computer, I am SURE that the queen would NOT enjoy an ipod. Way to say, "You're ancient!" to the queen. When one gives a gift, one is SUPPOSED to think of what the recipient might like... NOT what the giver might want to get.
sheryl...That's EXACTLY what I'm starting to think, too...
April 1, 2009 - 13:25 ET by PrairieSkyI'm beginning to think that the stupidity surrounding the gift-giving are intentional slights directed at the Brits...Either that, or Obama and virtually everyone in the protocol office are all total morons (a distinct probability). I guess I'll have to write another note of apology (to the palace, this time) concerning this embarrassment...I sent an email to the British Embassy in D.C. apologizing for O's gift of the DVD's to PM Brown during his visit here...(got a very nice response, too). What an colossal idiot Obama is...FOUR YEARS of this???

April 1, 2009 - 14:43 ET by Morgan Wick...or a spammer, or anything like that. I'm not secretly working for a marketing firm or anything like that. I'm just frustrated at a lack of responses to this thread and my inability to find anywhere else to put it. I know I've posted on two other open threads looking for other conservative web sites to post such a thread, but I really, really want to get a list of as many conservative objections to the mainstream media as I can wrangle. I'm not going to ridicule them or even debate them; my ultimate goal is to give a voice to them. Okay, you're likely to say "NewsBusters already gives a voice to them." I just want to collect as many general objections to the mainstream media as I can in one place. What's the best way for me to do that?
Re I'm not trying...
April 1, 2009 - 16:18 ET by slickwillie2001Too broad a question, and no example to kick off discussion perhaps. As you ack, most every response to every thread here represents an objection to the msm.
Not sure if you are looking for a place to collect incidents of bias, or a kind of 'contract with the media' in order to correct the bias we see. A place that would tabulate examples of bias in a diary type format would be useful. Just a couple lines per occurrence, with links and a more tab. Also, there are so many threads here lately per day that it's approaching a Lucianne-type format where you can't possibly keep up or hope to notice someone that addresses your comment.
