Sunday Sports Open Thread

Well, sports fans, we finally got a great game in this tournament.

Was yesterday's Villanova-Pitt classic on par with the Duke-Kentucky semifinal in 1992? Probably not...but it was a humdinger, and a real delight from opening tipoff to final buzzer!

Do either of today's games show such promise?

2:20 PM ET (2) Michigan State vs. (1) Louisville
5:05 PM ET (2) Oklahoma vs. (1) North Carolina

Lest we not forget, for you racing fans there's a great battle brewing at Martinsville.

Anything else?

We in Michigan need something to cheer about....if you have noticed things are pretty bleak here + we are still a month away from seeing the trees turn green

So we need Michigan State to pull off an upset

Speaking Of Great Games

In one of the other NCAA tournaments, namely the men's hockey round, New Hampshire came back and tied North Dakota with a goal with 1/10th of a second left in the game. Unbelievable.

In overtime, it only took UNH 45 seconds to score the winning goal. They will play Boston University later today; the winner faces Vermont next week in the Frozen Four.

BTW, the coverage on ESPN2 of yesterday's UNH-North Dakota game was delayed until well into the second period-the college lacrosse game they were carrying went to something like 7 overtimes.

Woe!

This Shrubber is a-bumming today after witnessing Pitt's CHOKE JOB last night.

*heavy sigh*

ALRIGHT!

MY HEELS ARE HEADED BACK TO THE FINAL FOUR.

I don't have words to describe it. 100th NCAA tournament win.

Back in Novemember when the Heels played the Spartans in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge at Ford Field it was mentioned by one of the announcers that you may see these 2 play here again in the Final Four. I hope they do.

Ashley Force Hood just blew the doors off of Jack Beckman to win Funny Car at Houston. She also blew the doors off her dad, John Force in round 2. The Sarge, Tony Schumacher, drove past Cory Mac to win Top Fuel.

Jimmie Johnson won at Martinville.

A VOICE FROM VANCEBORO

Congrats, rick

Enjoy your triumph....and best of luck to your Heels.

I hope he fails, too.
