A Dobson High School Advanced Placement government class with strong opinions about Barack Obama watched the president's speech Wednesday on a small, grainy TV in the corner of their classroom. Some of the students attentively watched the speech, giving questioning looks and comments, shaking their heads and laughing at some of Obama's words..."Overall I think it's a good idea, but he's not addressing the issues of the economic crisis," said Daudfar, a John McCain supporter who added he leans more toward being a moderate conservative. "The spending bill he just passed is just progressing the Democratic agenda rather than addressing the economic issues in the country."

As for public records…. I can go to the local courthouse or recorder of property records and pick up complete copies of my neighbor’s divorce file, dui criminal case file or probate file which often will include a will. I can pick up copies of state and federal tax liens which show tax IDs and addresses. Or I can pick up a copy of a deed of trust which will show how much my neighbor just borrowed on his home. I can go to the local traffic court and pick up a copy of traffic citations which show name, address, driver license number, tax ID, date of birth. These pieces of ‘public’ information often become a part of permanent data bases owned by corporate entities who sell the information.

I am sincerely surprised by the reaction to him. People are raving about him, ridiculously out of proportion to what he's doing. The stimulus bill is a perfect example. He didn't write the bill. He didn't manage the bill. All he did was demand the bill in the first place. And when it passed along strictly partisan lines, the media proclaimed it a brilliant triumph!
It might have been an achievement if he had persuaded huge numbers of opponents to succumb and accept the bill, but all he managed to persuade were three already-liberal senators. The Democrats and liberals already had a passable majority in Congress. This had all the suspense of an extra point.
What did this guy actually do? I honestly don't understand the accolades. He hasn't done anything. If ever there was a naked emperor, this guy is it. I just don't get the whole thing.

Our Founding Fathers understood well that if the masses obtained the right to vote themselves "money-for-nothing" they would do so. A Republic puts layers of isolation between the masses and the government that must make wise decisions. As soon as you give the masses the power to directly elect the government (called democracy), then socialism inevitably follows. This is what we're witnessing today. The oath-breakers are now in charge and America as defined by our Great Constitution no longer exists. Look around the Country and you'll see many examples of folks who were presumed on the right abandoning "their values" and going along to get along. Look at all the socialist programs to which Republicans must give lip-service to stay in office. They dare not say a word about the failure of Social Security, Medicare, etc., etc., etc.. What does this tell us?
Obama is determined to have his revolution and Congress is all too willing to oblige; nay, they are eager to particpate.

HS students (some) are mature enough to think for themselves. Not as long as Dems are in control. Ohio Gov. Strickland (D.) is sticking this ban into a budget bill. I heard an audio clip of Rep. Brian Williams (D.) on local talk radio this a.m. He stated that, with smaller class sizes in our schools, teachers no longer need the threat of harsh disciplinary methods in order to maintain control.
I don't want to debate corporal punishment. The point is that Williams for one, seems to be living on another planet. The planet where all it takes is a reduction in class size to change behavior. The fact is that class size has decreased and classroom discipline problems have increased. And those who grew up at a time where there were up to 40-45 students in a classroom and a single teacher was able to maintain discipline, are dismissed as living in the past.

Last night on our local news it was announced that about 6000 of the 17000 he was sending to Afganistan would be coming from Lejeune and Cherry Point. Why cut the defense budget and then stretch it even futher with more troops in Afganistan? Right now both of my son-in-laws, one Marine and one Navy Corpman, are scheduled to depart for Afganistan in the coming months. I want to be sure they have the beans and the bullets. Don't cut the budget 10% and then send troops out like that.

According to ESPN the Hornets are pretty much selling out each game due to Chris Paul. As far as the Saints go I don't know. The Messiah will probably force Gov. Jindal to take the porkulus money in order to keep the Saints in NO. Chocolate Nagin has already said he wanted the money so it will be forced on Jindal and then divided out by Nagin to the Saints and Hornets.
