Many of you are aware that

Many of you are aware that Sirius and XM merged awhile back.  They mergered some of the programming and dropped others. I now get Mad Dog Sports on Sirius 123. Suffering from a bit of insomnia I turned on the radio and there was a program on Mad Dog, 60/20 sports hosted by James Carville and Luke Russert. I listened for a few mintues and was about to puke. This was supposed to be about sports, not another avenue to praise the ONE.  (It is a shame that you guys at NB are going to have to monitor sports radio now. )

I found out last night that come March, even though I am a subscriber to Sirius, I am going to have to pay an additional $2.99 a month to be able to get it off the internet. It is free right now. I was going to write and complain about this anyway so WTH I may as well let them have it about Carville and Russert. I turn to the sports talk to get away from having to listen to all the crap about the Messiah and now I can't get away from it. If you are a Sirius/XM subscriber let them know how you feel about Carville and Russert.

By the way, I am not going watch all the crap leading up to the Super Bowl becuase of Overbite.

All that said, Go Steelers.

Noel there was some talk on  SNR that my Heels may move back to the # 1 ranking. It doesn't really mean anything. The true test comes in March anyway.

Pittsburgh by sentiment

Only considering the 21st Century these two Super Bowls were my favourites.

Super Bowl XLI Indianapolis v Chicago - Great competition and two terrific Coaches who are good friends off the field. I was rooting mostly for Dungy. Both coaches are Believers in Jesus Christ.

Super Bowl XLII New York Giants v New England - great game and I was rooting for the NYG and Eli Peyton . . so Archie Peyton's sons could make history in the NFL.

Out of sentiment, this year, I'm rooting for the Steelers. I loved the Bradshaw (also a Believe in Jesus Christ) years and I like Ben Roethslisberger. I would like to see another Believer in Jesus Christ win.

GO PITTSBURGH!

Isaiah 5:20a Woe unto them who call evil good, and good evil. . .  KJV

Arizona

. . .  and for only one reason.

Obama is rooting for the Steelers.

After Wake's win over Duke, what will new rankings be?

Obviously Wake Forest is going to be #1 for the week.

Since Duke only lost by 2 points as the road team to Wake Forest they will only drop to #2.

Then UNC should be #3, Clemson #4, and Miami #5 .  .  .  .

The Big East, Big Ten, SEC, and Pac 10 can stay home this year from the NCAA.

Gat

Gat,

Nice call on that traveling at the end of the game to basically give Wake the win, dontcha think? Guy gets mugged after making a tough rebound in the paint, and the refs call it traveling.

Would that have been the call at Duke or a neutral site?  ns

At Duke . . .

At Duke it would not have been (and will not be) that close a game.

You're right. Home team call.

Duke has bigger troubles this week with UNC. I still think UNC will be the only one standing after its all done.

Gat and Noel

It is DOOK. Took me awhile but i finally got Blonde and Roger on board with the spellling.

Ricky Joe the Plumber

Rick

Rick,

Umm, no. It's Duke, one of the finest universities in our nation, and one of the finest collegiate sports programs in history.

I know the UNC rivalry, but don't reciprocate by casting aspersions on Tar Heels, their fans, or this fine institution.   ns

Noel:  It's okay. Tar

Noel:

It's okay. Tar Heels call Duke "Dookies" and "Dookies" call Tar Heels when they need their car washed :)

By the way, strike that #1 for Wake. If Duke wins tomorrow they could remain #1 but it will probably be UConn as #1, Duke as #2 and #3 could be either UNC or Oklahoma.

Yeah

Wake lost to GA Tech on a last shot deal. The Heels  embarassed NC State.  Typical conference play. You never know what is going to happen in the ACC.

Ricky Joe the Plumber

Gat

Gat,

Hehehehehe.

You know, I don't get this hatred for Duke. Great school. Great coach. Guy that turned down many millions from the Lakers to stay a college coach should be revered. Clean program. Great grades. I don't get it.

BTW: Besides my affinity for Duke, I feel the same way about the Heels. Great program. Great school. Great coach. Love 'em both. ns

I think the jealousy of

I think the jealousy of Duke is "success" - not just academically but consistently on-the-court. I think a lot of people look at Duke as rich kids (i.e. Duke lacrosse) when it fact it is the opposite. They also ignore the Duke football program (although I'm not sure it comes into the category of "program").

UNC student definitely has a rivalry with Duke but it is not the hatred you see nationally at all.

I have friends from UNC, Maryland, and Wake Forest. The competition is all good fun.

Bah

I would assume UConn, Oklahoma, and Pitt might contest your rankings... :)

Let them take their best shot . . .

Actually after Wake lost today it will #1 will probably go to UConn with Duke at #2 (assuming they win against Virginia tomorrow). #3 could go to either Oklahoma or UNC or Pitt.

ACC this year is rich with top teams with 4 in the top 10 now, so they are just going to be knocking each other off this season. March will be when it counts.

And with the men's win over Providence last night

Expect Husky Nation, both men and women's teams to claim number 1 rankings.

But the men face Pitino and Louisville...undefeated in Big East play, along with Marquette.  And you know, ever since Georgetown beat UCONN, they have been fallling and falling.  That's what happens when you get a Husky angry.

Thabeet had a triple double in the win over The Friars, which at the end of the 1st half was going to be a close game.

Oh and to all the Big East haters out there...WHICH CONFERENCE HAS MORE TEAMS IN THE TOP 25 WITH 8 INCLUDING THE NEW NUMBER 1 HUSKIES OF UCONN?

THOUGHT SO!

No distemper shot for these Huskies!  HA!

No football = no sports

-Dave

Our clueless political leaders are about to drive us all over a cliff. The time to HITM is now-before we go over.

You better RECOGNIZE

Louisville Cardinals Basketball

Big fan of the Cardinals. I

Big fan of the Cardinals. I have alot of respect for them. They stomped on the 'Neers today!

Gotta love the Big East! My Panthers just stuffed the Fighting Irish. In typical Pitt fashion, Jamie Dixon made adjustments at halftime. ND hit ELEVEN 3-pointers in the first half, but only hit 1 in the second half, wiith 2:20 to go in the game! DuJuan Blair was a force, with 23 points and 20 rebounds.

I like ND's center (I cannot spell his name). He had 27 points, I think. Good player.

Napoleon

Shouldn't there be a pic of David Stern next to the definition of "Napoleonic Complex" in every dictionary?

the Aussie Open (and the ESPN2 spoiler)

(Dave, I respectfully disagree ;) The Nadal/Verdasco 5+ hour, 5-set match was absolutely riveting - shame that the high caliber of play was in a semifinal and not a final match, meaning that Verdasco will not receive some hardware for his effort.

[pardon me while I get on top of the soapbox]
I recorded only 4 hours of the original ESPN2 broadcast, so I had to watch the remainder of the match on the afternoon ESPN2 rebroadcast.

Late in the 4th set of the rebroadcast, ESPN2 announced the outcome by running a promo for the Nadal/Federer final. 100 suicide runs for the idiot who did that.
[stepping down from the box]

Looking forward to a great Nadal/Federer match.

Well, I love the Steelers,

Well, I love the Steelers, but I love the Cards and Warner more!

Go Cardinals!

Can't wait for tomorow, should be a great game.

CARDINALS

Most of the "experts" I read and heard are picking the Steelers so the Cards have a good chance to pull off the upset...plus I like that Fitzgerald guy...<:~)

As to the best in Hockey I agree with San Jose, but the other team I would put with them (I hate to say this being a Ranger fan) The Devils...

The Devils are rolling along without missing a beat minus Brodeur and that to me is quite impressive...

I gotta find a new planet...

9-AFC, 7-NFC

Personally, I'm rooting for scores that end in 9 for the AFC and 7 for the NFC :) ($2500 a quarter!)

I do hope Arizona pulls it off!
