For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Senate GOP must follow House brethren and vote unanimously against stimulus package.

Although the Obama-loving press cheered the House vote Wednesday night approving the new president’s economic stimulus package, the end result was a resounding defeat for a man who promised on the campaign trail to bring a new era of bipartisanship to Washington. There’s no getting around it, not ONE Republican representative said “Aye.”...[I]f they seriously want to win back either chamber of Congress in 2010, and/or the White House in 2012, Republicans in the Senate must follow suit by casting 41 opposing votes next week when this issue moves to their side of the Capitol.

Do you agree?

A big resounding YES! And

A big resounding YES!

And it would probably help some moderate democrats chances if they do the same.  I have one in my state, and he's been put "on notice".

I doesn't matter, though.

I doesn't matter, though.  The GOP only seems to get a backbone when they have no power.  As soon as they win, they go RINO....

Even "conservative" pundits and media people can't seem to avoid this strange trait.  For example:  The Dow Jones Money Report - a radio branch of the WSJ (supposedly conservative media outlet) reported on  Jan. 28 that the DOW was up in anticipation of passage of the stimulus plan.

But the next day (After passage of the "stimulus" plan) the DOW was down more than it went up the previous day - but they blamed it on jobless claims etc. with no mention of the possibility that it was due to the passage of the stimulus plan...

When the Wall Street Journal starts geting tingles up its leg, you know we're in deep do do.

This may come as a suprise,

This may come as a suprise, but the WSJ news part of the paper is largely liberal in its take on most issues while its editorial section is clearly conservative.  Most people don't realise this.

Nevertheless, I agree that Republicans have this awful trait.  They can't seem to stay in power because they are compelled to act like dimocrats once in power.

We'll have to wait and see if they vote as a block.  I will be pleasantly suprised if they do.

Meanwhile, I have e-mailed both my North Carolina senators of my misgivings on this bloated turd of a bill.  I suggest all that read this, do the same.  If we make enough noise, we could defeat this or at least alter some of its most disturbing aspects like we did the immigration bill.

yes, i emailed my senators...

...although, if previous experiences are an indication, bill nelson will not pay any attention to me, but will write back with some double-talk about "knowing what's best for the country".  i also contacted my representative and thanked him for going against the "stimulus" package in the house vote.

clinging...lotsa luck

I e-mailed both Nelson and Martinez yesterday....no reply, natch.

I e-mailed John Boehner earlier this week, and at least got an acknowledgement....which reminds me, I need to send a follow-up thanking the man for doing such a good job keeping the House Republicans in line.

yeah, blonde...

...i think it actually does help to remind them when we agree with what they have done.  i'm sure they hear plenty about when we don't!

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." Edmund Burke

Clinging...absolutely

I just sent John Boehner another e-mail thanking him, immediate reply.

Still nothing from my two senators, though.

John F'n Kerry said today........

"If the republicans wont vote with us, we'll just ignore them". I say to F'n Kerry, great....you idiots can hold the bag all on your own, and when it blows up, and it will......it will be ALL your fault. The "OAF" doesn't want that.....as in wealth, he wants to spread the blame around too.

Yep.

I cannot speak for the Republicans, but I would encourage them to not approve this horrid plan, definitely.

Consider:  Democrats are Democrats because they don't want to be Republicans.  Republicans are Republicans because they don't want to be Democrats.  So we have an election, and the Dems win.  At what point, knowing that Dems and Republicans are idealogically opposed, are the Republicans supposed to just say, "oh well", and side with the Dems?  Or vice-versa.

These parties are enemies, period.  If the GOP sides with the Dems on this issue, that would be an affrontage to Conservatives everywhere.  I fully expect the GOP to oppose Mr. Obama and the Dems at every turn, and to never relent in their pursuit of morality and common-sense Conservatism.

Saying that unity is possible within Congress amongst Dems and Republicans is kinda silly.  I'm just saying...

There is an editorial in

There is an editorial in today's Raleigh N & O on this subject that had to be one of the most uninformed views I have ever read. Here is just a taste:  House Republicans chose political pettiness and self-interest over constructive action on the stimulus package.

It is no wonder people want buy their damn paper with views like this.

Ricky Joe the Plumber

That's their

That's their story.

Democrats stand unified; Republicans march in lockstep.

Democrats stand firm on principle, Republicans choose political pettiness.

They are without shame, from the big names like NYT down to the locals.

Fox & Friends

McCain was on Fox & Friends this morning and he said that he wasn't going to support this pork bill.  He even commented on the lack of partisanship by Pres. Obama when he proclaimed that he won.  Now if Collins, Snowe, Grahm will follow his lead then we'll be OK.  Heck, it'll be great if Liebermann fell in on the side of the GOP with this vote.

Local papers are reporting today that our Dim senator, who lied to beat Elizabeth Dole, Kay Hagan, said that she was wavering because of the lack of infrastructure funds. In the end she will toe the party line and vote for it.

Who cares WHY she opposes it?  Hope she stays the course!!

Ben Nelson was saying

Ben Nelson was saying similar things about how the bill doesn't help bring in jobs and is leaning against it...he's more of a moderate democrat. I think calling or emailing them about the fact we are watching how they vote and threating to take our vote away from them, might make them think twice about toeing the party line.

I hate that we lost Liddy Dole. She could be depended on.
I already told Hagan she could kiss re-election good-bye if she voted for this bill.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

I think we all knew Obama's

I think we all knew Obama's claims of bipartisanship were empty rhetoric, just like all the rest of the sales pitch he made during the campaign.  If you noticed Queen Pelosi made all the choices and then rushed the legislation through with no hearings or debate. Obama is nothing more than a 5th wheel, Pelosi and to a lesser extent Reid are making all the decisions while Obama flaps his lips.

I agree with Tom Blumer on this one, the Dems are rushing this legislation to be enacted lest the economy recover on it's own and they don't get any credit for it.  If the Senate GOP members have any modicum of strategic thinking, they will tie this legislation up in knots for several months by publicly making issues of each pork item one at a time to get the maximum play.  The economy will not get better passing this pork barrel legislation so they really have nothing to lose in opposing it, the Dems on the other hand have much to lose by it not passing.  But then McCain and Spectre were never ones for strategic thinking outside of their own self interest so I imagine it's too much to ask for out of those two.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.

Of course it was rhetoric

Of course it was rhetoric and disingenuous rhetoric at that.

He said he would  "cobble together a coalition of people who agree...."

Are we supposed to be amazed by that?

Heck, any sixth grader can do that...it's called a "clique!"

dan & mb,

I am beginning to see some evidence that perhaps our economy is not quite as bad off as the government has led us to believe. The fact that this same government is in such a huge rush to "fix" it is not a little unsettling.

I heard Thomas Sowell on the radio the other day. He brought up the point that, following the Crash of 1929, the unemployment rate in this country stayed below 10% for an entire year. It wasn't until the federal government got involved in trying to "fix" things that it began its climb to 25%.

Our clueless political leaders are about to drive us all over a cliff. The time to HITM is now-before we go over.

Senate vote

I agree 100%.  I was impressed by the House Republicans for the first time in a long time.  Hopefully, the Senate Republicans will not cave to Democrat pressure.  Everyone can see and smell what this stimulus package really is....pork for Liberal special interests that have not one thing to do with stimulating the economy.  Let the Democrats wear this stimulus package around their necks exclusively if they think it's such a great idea.

Agree!! but....

The downside is there is a 80% chance that Judas John McCain will gum up the works. If sticking together-voting together is a wonderful principled thing for democrats then the same applies to the Republicans. Right?

What I like is the seeming re-appearance of Newt-like tactics...the frequent press conferences and alternate ideas...SO THEY GET TO THE PEOPLE...where have they been?   Answer: Victims of Bush-McCain mush mouth wrongheaded positions. If only JM had gone home.
Thank God we are over that!

Now IF the Repubs continue to do the economic research and speak publicly over and over and over...time is always the enemy of the secular socialists...as is truth.  I like.

The get-a-long shuffling spineless fossils in the Senate are always the problem...so there you go.

Doug Schexnayder, Ph.D. (theconservativecrawfish)

So far, McCain is with the

So far, McCain is with the Republicans, according to a comment above that says he was on FNC this AM...and he even took a little dig at the President for his "I won" comment.

We shall see....

I say let the Democrats own this monster.

I was  listening to Glenn Beck a bit ago, and he commented, while talking to
Rudy Giuliani, that a lot of people think this $825 or $900 billion or
whatever includes the bailouts.

If that's true, as more info
comes out and people find out that this is all in addition to the
bailout money, there is going to be a revolt!

"Everyone can see and smell

"Everyone can see and smell what this stimulus package really is....pork
for Liberal special interests that have not one thing to do with
stimulating the economy."

You are correct. This Oink-Oink Bill will forever be the emblem for institutionalized corruption.

I am unfortunate enough to have two of the most notorious RINOs in the Senate. I will email them (again) and urge them to vote against this most massive theft of the public treasury  in the history of the planet.

For liberal Democrats and the Old Media, everything is crisis, chaos, calamity and catastrophe. That justifies stealing your property and liberties.

Vote against

The Senate GOP should vote against the package for 2 reasons. 1) because they need to stand with the House GOP and 2) because it's a Horrible Bill with PORK everywhere and won't help the economy anytime soon.

This isn't a stimulus package. It's all the pet liberal projects and a reward for supportting President Obama during his election. There's more money for ACORN that is targetted to provide mortgage reliefs for those people who got houses they couldn't afford from Chris Dodd and Barney Frank. Talk about pouring money down a rat hole. If you really want to stimulate the economy, give tax incentives to viable startups. Maybe some of those people who can't afford a house can get a job and pay for that first little house like all the rest of us did.

Senate Republicans need to stand for fiscal responsibility

...someone sure needs to regain some sanity on this issue.

 From the International Herald Tribune

http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/01/29/business/borrow.4-419037.php

On Thursday afternoon here, a top White House adviser, Valerie Jarrett, promised that once the stimulus plan achieved its intended effect, the United States would "restore fiscal responsibility and return to a sustainable economic path."

What a startling admission. So she admits that the "stimulus" plan is fiscally irresponsible? and NOT sustainable? I bet you that we don't hear too much about this quote in the MSM.

They. had. better.

period.

Obama's running his mouth again

Its bad enough that the very politicians who helped put our economy in the crapper, and who are about to hit the treasury a second time for nearly $1 Trillion, are going to see that some of the loot (and that is exactly what it is) is going to be dolled out to people who shouldn't even be in this country.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am about ready for a revolt.

-Dave

Our clueless political leaders are about to drive us all over a cliff. The time to HITM is now-before we go over.

Revolt?

The politicians and the MSM are revoltingly stupid.  So count me in and let's have another Boston tea party.

Think about how much of the money they get won't even stay in the US.  Money sent from US to Mexico to support the people back home = second largest industry in Mexico, behind Oil and ahead of Tourism.  How is that money going to "stimulate" the US economy?  Maybe more will stay in Mexico, alleviating the load on our welfare rolls and public schools.  That would help, actually.

It's very amusing that the

It's very amusing that the MSM was wondering aloud if the Repubs had lost their cojones.  And now that the House Repubs have voted en masse against the Obamatron's Pork o'rama bill, they have become mean and un-bipartisan.

For the MSM: In your pomp and all your glory, you're a poorer man than me.  As you lick the boots of death born out of fear.

Ian Anderson "Wind up"

The House Reps slapped him down

Do I think the Senate Reps should automatically vote nay? Not necessarily. They can amend the bill there. Will these amdts pass? Can they strip out the nonsense and major policy changes needing more debate and keep the fiscal fixes, maybe some state aid, and safety net stuff to help the citizens? Ah--that would be a wise legislature indeed. But only things that differ from the House bill can be horse-traded and discussed...so the Sen version needs to be different. By the way--the banks want another two trill.

I hope they do...

They need to follow the Rush Doctrine and destroy any hope of pulling out of this economic downturn. The GOP lacks any type of real leadership and has become marginalized by its own faults and misguided goals. Even Mitch McConnell said Bush was a burden to the Party! Gotta love the truth when spoken by the Senate Minority Leader!

What are they thinking? It's not as if they can control anything at this moment, I would have thought they would have at least tried to get some of the funds to their constituents in their hometowns. Now, the Democrats are going to be doling out the money to these cash strapped communities like a relief worker handing out bread to the starving masses and the Republicans are going to look like a bunch fools in the process! Great way to get support from your base as they starve to death. The Republican Party will suffer the same as the Whig Party and other failed American Parties...too bad, so sad, good riddance...Next!

Maybe the two Party system will turn out to be the Democrats vs. The Progressives!

Keep up the good work, Rush! Thanks for your support! Heck'va Job! You sure you are not on our side?

The economic genius weighs in

Great thinking, OJ.  Bring on the pork, yeah, that'll fix it, while saddling every man, woman, and child in this country with debt for years...not to mention the "cost" of each job "created"....somewhere around $210 - $290K per job.   You're a freaking genius.

We need dog parks and equestrian trails, and a $150M program for honey bee insurance, dammit!

I see you have great hope in the Fearless Leader's ability to "solve" something...he couldn't even solve a gazebo.

Lotsa luck with that.

You are so right...I was mistaken.

Blonde,

I forgot about the looting of the Stock Market and the Banks in the past year, no oversight, no leadership, heck'va job. You're right as always, the rural segments of our society won't need any help. They can depend on themselves...plenty of jobs in the Heartland. They vote for the people who look out for their best interests. Who am I to say otherwise? From a city to city, state to state allocation of monies, the feds should only help the ones who have put the most money into the system...That's why California, Texas, New York, Md/Va/Dc, Illinois, etc. are going to reap the rewards of being bailed out! Long live the Republic! Praise the Lord for the fortunes he has bestowed upon the wealthy! If your poor, you're not working hard enough.(sarc on)

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is Not Pollution

OddJob, if you think raiding the treasury to the tune of $800+..

...Billion is going to pull this country out of the economic crapper, you are more of an idiot than I previously thought.

The $700 Billion they raided it for a couple of months ago did absolutely nothing. Why will it be any different now?

Our current predicament was mainly brought about because a bunch if idiot politicians (Dodd, Frank, etc.) thought they knew how to run the mortgage industry better than the people in it.

Now, these exact same idiot politicians are telling us that they can "fix" it if we just allow them to take $800+ Billion of OUR money out of the treasury and doll it out among their constituents.

In the 1930's, government was going to "fix" things exactly the same way they are trying to do it now, and drove the unemployment rate from under 10% to 25% in the process.

I wonder how high the government, run by idiots, will push the unemployment rate this time around?

Maybe 30% this time? 40%?

-Dave

Our clueless political leaders are about to drive us all over a cliff. The time to HITM is now-before we go over.

Not to mention

And this is important, a very large chunk of that money will be used to start up Gov. programs that will require further funding. This bill starts at 825-billion.

There are very few and limited opportunities in this bill, unless you have ambitions to be dependent on the Government. And as we now know many folks feel that the opportunities that are in this bill should only go to unskilled minorities, but were the racist. Go figure.

This is big time scary stuff, for everyone. Buying votes and keeping the poor dependent.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

gc, this bill is nothing more than a government power grab.

And the more I think about it, the more I am beginning to wonder how much of this current economic downturn was an accident.

The actions of the government to date suggest to me that, just perhaps, it wasn't.

-Dave

Our clueless political leaders are about to drive us all over a cliff. The time to HITM is now-before we go over.

I think you are on to something Dave

I have often thought that big wigs like Soros, and others, and the media puppies tanked the ecconomy porposly. The constant doom and gloom from the media certainly took its toll. Lemmings like OJ here dont seem to understand that this Adminastration does'nt care if they are succsesful, this is about dependency and keeping power. Has nothing to do with helping the citizens.

BTW, I have been talking with some of my liberal co-workers and Obama voters, and even they are shocked about the contents of this bill. Although I should add, the liberals here are not the loony left. Doesnt stop me from telling them "I told you so"!!

As for the Democrats, it looks like God answered their prayers, Obama and a Democratically controlled Congress. Yeah, God!

Have the lights come on, yet?

The GOP doesn't realize that God likes a winner and supports the winning side. I guess the Democrats prayed harder!

Your knowledge of how and who's prayers the God of the Bible answers is sorely lacking.

Praying the hardest doesn't do much if they aren't even heard...kind of like writing a check against an account that has not even been opened!

Because I  have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke.... Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me (Proverbs 1:24-25, 28).

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

One thing to realize...

ChL3x,

...you assume way too much that Marines are all the same. I fought and almost died. I'm an American and can think for myself, thank you.

Peace and Love!

Odd Job

I just don't see anyone

Who ever fought for their country supporting someone who pisses on the military like he does. How do you justify your support for him? I'd love to hear your reasoning on the matter.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

You might want to ask some of those...

CL3x,

...who do not support the war in Iraq. Ask the those who came back pissed at their leaders...Check out IAVA.org. You'll find plenty of us. It's obvious to me...you only read and hear what you think is true. How about seeking the truth and stop following the rabbit down the rabbit hole, Alice. Some are calling me a "kool-aid drinker", when they are marching lockstep with the rest of the sheep and spouting out Rushisms. Baa-baa.

Odd Job

OJ

I asked for YOUR reasoning, not a link to other people's.

(I'd never listened to Rush in my life till this Monday. I tuned in to see what was upsetting Dear Leader so much) Baaaaa...yourself. Express your own opinion instead of linking.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

CL3X, Did you expect

CL3X,

Did you expect anything more?  A troll will:

Never provide evidence for their assertions.  Respond to demands for evidence the way Dracula responds to a crucifix.  Change the subject. Pissed on the Military? Your opinion not mine.

CL3x,

Depends on your perspective, doesn't it? I find the Military full of good people. It doesn't mean they are all good people. It's funny to see the conservative rail against socialism. They are more than willing to support Hundreds of thousands of troops, giving them free medical care, pensions and a host of other services for the service to the state. I went into to serve, not for handouts, just felt it was the thing to do, give back for all the things I enjoy, so to speak. Could careless whether anyone else did the same. The one thing that is disturbing is the cost and blood of those who are sacrificed by those who do not understand war. War is hell. I'm ramblin' and will stop...who gives a shit? The GOP and their stooges hide behind a facade of National Glorification and screws everyone in the process...they deserve to be thrown into the dustbin of history.

Peace and Love!

Odd Job

Yes, you were rambling

And you still haven't answered my question.

He openly sneers at our military's service in Iraq, implies that they are honourless civilian killers, and dissed the Medal of Honor winners.
FACTS.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

Geez OJ

They are more than willing to support Hundreds of thousands of troops, giving them free medical care, pensions and a host of other services for the service to the state.

You realy should stop, you are prooving to be a lot more then just uninformed.

Here's the difference between the Millitary and Socialism

Socialism is forced poverty, forced substandard care, forced service to the nation, and forced dependence for all.

Serving in the millitary is a voluntary action and while one serves they receive benefits like many jobs.  Once you leave before being eligible for retirement the benifits end.

Brilliant idea, OJ!  Steal more money from the productive taxpayers to hand out to non-taxpayers and make yourselves "look good" in the eyes of the non-taxpayers.  Then steal more money from productive taxpayers to give non-taxpayers free cable boxes and jimmy hats.  Then steal more money from productive taxpayers to re-sod the Capitol Mall...this after stealing hundreds of millions of productive taxpayer dollars to build an edifice in D.C. because Harry Reid doesn't like the smell of tourists.  And this is supposed to grow the economy, how?  Do yourself a favor, before making a complete ass out of yourself again, try breaking open a textbook and learn some Economics.  Provided you can read, you might learn something valuable...and you won't sound like such an economically-illiterate, arrogant buffoon.  Or, you can simply continue to marinate in your ignorance and expect those of us who are productive to continue giving panhandlers like you more of our hard-earned money.  Good luck with that plan.

Economic Illiterate OddJob Strikes Again

Your economic illiteracy is astounding OddJob. Government spending cannot help the economy, "stimulus" has never worked in the past, it did not work in the '30s, it did not work when Japan tried it in the '90s and it did not work when Bush tried it last year. The only thing that can work is to reduce the size of government, cut taxes and remove regulations.

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." Edmund Burke

I know my Senators are split

The only real question is if the Repub. will roll over. Sherrod Brown is so far in the tank he will vote for "re-education camps" when they come up. George Voinovich is always a moving target, and one hopes that, since he has already declared he will retire, he votes his guts..but who knows?

Either vote as a 'conservative'

and show the difference between the philosophies or between now and the next election cycle the RNC should find and FUND a replacement for the RINO.

I don't donate because the RNC keeps funding RINOs instead of finding BETTER PEOPLE for the position.

Bipartisan No Vote

The best we can hope for is not a NO vote from Republicans, but a bi-partisan NO vote from the Senate. To do that we need to get at least a couple of Democratic Senators to vote NO as well as all the Republicans.

That will be the equivalent of what happened in the House.

Whole-heartedly!

Whole-heartedly!

Cable news ratings

I was looking at the cable news ratings over at Drudge if I remember correctly. Can anyone tell me if Hannity's ratings have gone up since they dumped that nimrod Alan Colmes?  I know he beat the crap out of Madow and Larry King on his debut-something like double the ratings of both shows combined.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

I AGREE

There has been no more blatant attack on the American way of life from a legislative and executive level in the history of the country, at least to this magnitude. I don't wish to get into the magnitude of liberal tendency to exagerate issues, but I do consider this initial financial vote equivalent to a "Financial 9-11" that we have to negate just as vehemently to as we did in 2001. I would go so far as to filibuster this particular legislation if we don't get any democrats to come to our side. Thank GOD Chambliss held out.

No Republican should vote for this obscene spending bill

Republicans can send a message to the new President that he doesn't have the support of the Republican representatives.  Still doesn't stop the Dims from pushing this obscene spending through.  Alternatives need to be put out there or this will be swept under the rug.

We can't afford the spending that is being proposed.  Stop government excesses now.

Kevin... You are right of

Kevin...

You are right of course.

No real republican would vote for this Bill.

Like I said yesterday somewhere, we don't know that all Dem's are going to be for this either...

Going to be interesting to see if the Fearless Leader Reid can keep them all behind him...

Pelosi and the House had some dissenters.  ;-)

I can hope.

Let alone call when the time is right...more than once mind you, plenty of Senators to call when all the amendments come up for a vote, let alone we don't know yet what the final Bill will look like yet.

Going to be interesting.

Heard on the Senate floor

I heard that Dingy Harry commented that Obama needed to have more cocktail parties to win over Republicans. Ted Kennedy quickly stood and said "I'll drink to that!"

Ricky Joe the Plumber

I thought he said

 "I'll drink to that!"

 "Can I come too"?

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

I hate to change the subject but...

How come the MSM isn't focusing on this double-standard?  Also, why is it that every time a picture is taken of Biden near a woman it makes him look like he's hitting on her?

yeah, he looks like a letch in that picture, but i hear that makes her feel right at home!

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." Edmund Burke

Yes they shouldd oppose it and say exactly why.

Yes they should oppose it a state exactly why - its politics as usual. There is so much in the bill that has nothing to do with stimulus, and the Dimocrats are using the economy slump as a tool to ram this through.

According to

this:http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123332897909033591.html?mod=article-outset-box

Republicans have started to fiddle with the bill...I wasn't overly impressed with these approaches, though. They need to amend it to get stupid stuff out or worded differently so it's conference-able.

Obama Misteps

So far he has appointed a tax cheat as Treasury Secretary, an ethically impaired Secretary of State, a dimwit for Attorny General, a dedicated abortionist as his deputy, an activist socialist to be his Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, and a union organizer as Secretary of Labor. He has also proposed a trillion dollar boondogle that could damage the United States economy for decades. At a time when American business needs to become more efficient and productive, Obama is imposing obstacles to their recovery. He has now set government thugs to stand behind union thugs to intimidate non-union workers and businesses. He is set to nationalize the banking industry after government destroyed it. Obama is prepared to sign the Democrat's SCHIP bill as the first step toward government run healthcare and its destruction. Obama's proposals will prolong and intensify the recession.

Obama is poised to make every mistake Bush did and then some more.  Will the MSM notice?

Obama's policies are threats to America and if he succeeds, America will fail. If Obama fails, America succeeds.

My Senator's Reply to Porkalicious

This just in from Senator Bill Nelson:

Thank you for contacting me about the economic stimulus package.

The American people are hurting. They are losing their homes, their jobs, their businesses and their life savings. Economists across the political spectrum agree that the government needs to take bold and immediate action to stimulate the economy and curb the risk of a protracted economic recession.

The economic stimulus package will provide critical tax relief, shore up unemployment benefits and food stamps, improve access to health care, and promote energy independence. I believe the stimulus package is narrowly targeted to spend and invest in ways that will get the economy moving again.

I understand your concerns about the stimulus package. Last year I voted against spending $700 billion to bail out Wall Street because the bill lacked meaningful relief for homeowners facing foreclosure and didn't include adequate protections for American taxpayers. I am committed to reducing wasteful spending and improving transparency in Federal funding. For too long have we ignored the consequences of a burgeoning Federal deficit.

As Congress considers measures to put the economy on the right track, I will be sure to keep your views in mind. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future.

Well....you can imagine my reply to this liberal pap!!!!

blonde, i got the exact same canned response from nelson!

"narrowly targeted" my behind!!!

below is a portion of the response i received from martinez, and i cannot even tell where he stands.  fence-straddling at its best!

"As you know, our economy is facing a number of serious challenges--many of which involve housing, an acute issue in our state. As the Senate considers additional proposals aimed at growing our economy, including the possibility of a second stimulus bill, I will keep your thoughts in mind. I will continue to work with my colleagues to find ways to use the resources of the federal government in a reasonable and responsible manner in order to mitigate future losses and put our housing and financial markets on the pathway to recovery."

so my response to his response: "huh?"

I wrote to Mel too, but so far, no reply....he probably couldn't figure out whether I was a (R) or an enemy, LOL....cause I think he's a RINO and I probably wasn't very nice.

THROW THE BUMS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he's seen the handwriting on the wall and is not seeking re-election.  who do you like for his seat?  jeb says he won't run, but i think he could take it if he did.

i have not and would NEVER vote for bill nelson, astronaut service not with-standing.

Nothing good.

Maybe Ileana Ros-Letenin (sp?).

Of course, the dem candidates are coming out of the woodwork like cockroaches for Martinez's seat....Meeks, Ron Klein....the ever yucky and gross Rob Wexler (D-Md).

Bill Nelson was a Senator when he rode the rocket....not the other way around.  He's a democrat, pure and simple...took advantage of the system.  He deserves the astronaut suit about as much as John F'ing does.

Florida has turned into a wasteland of dems....and Charlie Crist better just STFU!  RINO trash.

yeah, i know he took advantage of the system to go on the ride.

it's just that when i was a little girl, astronauts were heroes and i have a hard time getting past that, lol!

we simply cannot let a dim have martinez' seat!  that's why we need a really strong candidate.  i wonder if katherine harris could take it.  i can't remember, but i don't think her numbers against nelson were too shabby.  (i'm a little prejudiced; her grandpa and my grandpa were good friends and i thought my grandpa hung the moon, lol!)  i need to do some research, i suppose.
